    You made some good points about working in a corporate environment, however, I too am presently working at a corporate pet grooming store. (Not Petsmart) I hate it. For all the reasons you talked about good and bad. I have experience working for a private salon and it is sooo much better. I'm putting out my resume to many private groomers now. Hopefully someone will pick me up soon. Good luck with your new job! Look forward to new videos!

    OMG!!! You don’t work for Petsmart anymore!! 😱😱. You were my favorite groomer there. You are why I looked at that company differently! Glad to see you are happy where you are and moving on to bigger and better things. Maybe you’ll have your own shop one day! Sounds like Petsmart didn’t deserve and it was good that you got out! Good for you! I’m happy for you and excited we finally get the new content 😁

    I am just about addicted to watching you groom dogs. I have 6 rescues and can no longer afford to take the dogs to the groomer. So far I am getting the hang of some things. I have not yet bought clippers. I can’t really find a recommendation for the best cordless clippers.

    Glad to know that you are more happy now. But my experience is the opposite from yours. I moved from a private salon to a corporate salon, because the private salon is all about money money and money, putting my safety and the dog's safety aside, while the corporate salon gives me the right to turn away a dog if I think not safe to do the groom that day. And the private salon told me if the pet parent claims a vet bill even just because of skin allergy from the shampoo which is not my fault at all, I am the one to pay everything, I feel so unprotected. So far I am happier working at the corporate one. I think at the end doesnt matter it is a private or a corporate, just that specific salon is suitable for us or not, depending on how the owner/manager run the business.

    being terminated for a dog biting you sounds like grounds for wrongful termination suit. had you reported it and been injured that would have been a worker's compensation suit. I don't know the specifics. But, this sounds very fishy on the company side. Congrats on the new job and totally understand just wanting to move on.

    I definitely had grounds for multiple suits. There were a lot of things that were extremely fishy once I moved down to the south. There was A LOT with this company but for me, once I had clarity of all the doors opening up for me, they weren’t worth my time. Thank you so much! I truly appreciate it. It really was the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I’m so much happier and stress free I think everyone should do it 😂

    Hey, why do companies like PetSmart and Petco grooming prices are so much cheaper than private salons? My miniature poodle is $70 at PetSmart but at private salon he’s over $140. And he’s never matted so what’s the deal.

  • @TheLuvOfDogs

    @TheLuvOfDogs

    11 күн бұрын

    Private Salons are more expensive because they have to foot all of the bills and expenses them selves (I.e, utilities, shop rent or mortgages, if something breaks and needs to be replaced). We use better products whereas places like Petsmart and petco skimp on their products and are not nearly or close to as good for the dogs or quality as a private salon. Also, the shop owner has to make a profit in order to keep the business going and open and also to be able to live their lives. Like buying groceries, car notes, their house rent or mortgages etc. I hope this helps. Supporting a private salon is significantly better than supporting a corporate shop from my experience.

    Was wondering how long can a clean washed dog go with out washing before it smelling like a dog again? The thing is most dog ownes i find they dogs alway have a bad dogie smell i dont like how dogs smell they always have a bad or damp smell .i wonder if the dog owners get use to that smell?

  • @TheLuvOfDogs

    @TheLuvOfDogs

    Жыл бұрын

    So it depends on the products the groomer uses but with high quality products it can be up to 2-3wks that the smell will last from the grooming appointment. Some owners are use to the smell and can’t tell when their dog needs a bath

    I know what you mean about wet dog smell! It’s tough with bigger dogs I believe, because I’ve had both Labrador retriever’s and now Yorkshire terrier’s. Bigger dogs are just harder to give a bath in the cold months, especially. But I never had a smelly Lab! My Yorkie, she smells like Coconut’s 😊 but she only weighs 3.5 lbs vs my Labs at 60 - 70… My Son has a Lab- Coonhound mix! 😅 He’s 80lbs and he smells sometimes in the colder months! 🤷🏼‍♀️ and they are wonderful doggo parents! He is a very spoiled baby 😂🤗🥰❤️

I guess it can happen but you really know your stuff, just hard to imagine is all… PetsMart? I’m a home groomer but before I was I never thought about using a Corporate dog groomer. I wouldn’t think about it but I worked in the Corporate World 🤷🏼‍♀️ totally different business but I loved the fact that we were a franchise because other than Corporates inspections and such but I always worked for what felt like a family owned company 👍🏼 Corporate Sucked and wanted a Franchise operate so strict it was impossible to Operate! Gotcha there!!! Love and Prayers, glad I found you! Great Personality +++❤ You’re awesome! I can tell you love the babies you care for and I know they love you 🤗🥰❤️

    I like that you didn't shave this dog down, and left him some hair. I've seen groomers that shave them totally. Say that the dog is matted. Do you shave when they're matted.

    Thank you. I do not like shaving dogs short unless absolutely necessary or the owner requests it. I have had to shave a dog really short before but it depends on how bad the matting is.

    Do you make clients drug there dogs? PetSmart always wanted me to drug my dog because she was very nervous when groomed and I always had her groomed every 8 weeks from the time she was a puppy I found a groomer at a dog school and she’s fine not being drugged

  • @TheLuvOfDogs

    No I don’t make anyone drug their dog, if the dog tries to severely hurt themselves or me I’ll make recommendations for alternatives like CBD and if that doesn’t work I’ll recommend they speak with their vet but I’m always willing to try other options because I know vet cost are very high.

    Wow! I have been watching your videos recently and just heard about your change of jobs now. Having worked at corporate companies all my life (though in a totally different kind of business), I can share with you what I feel may have happened with you based on what you tell us. 1) not reporting a bite that happened a while back, sounds like an excuse, not the real reason 2) your KZread videos being more and more popular, you may be attracting attention in related businesses. E.g. petfood business 3) What I remember seeing you say in a video, if I am not mixing up with other videos that is, was some negatif stuff against a particular brand of petfood, causing yeast infections and asking people not to use it... correct? 4) Again, a total guess, speculation is that, the supplier of petfood may have complained about you to petshop and you may have been considered a liability... That is how things work in the corporate world...

    Having coming from 2 corporate salons myself with almost 20 years of grooming experience, that is not how it works at all. Petsmart and Petco literally write you up and/or terminate you for injuries like being bitten, hence why most groomers just grin and bear it rather than report it for worker's compensation out of fear. Most groomer's report it if it's a SERIOUS injury. A dog got away from SOMEONE ELSE while I had my back turned just walking in the store and they knocked me over and I fell on my wrist, causing a fracture. I got a writeup for that even though NOTHING about it was my fault, it didn't even happen in the salon. ANYTHING they have to make an incident report for, they will write you up or terminate you. Also, Petco and Petsmart literally train their employees to not recommend certain brands or types of foods to customers, so food recommendations have nothing to do with it either. And they do teach us that certain foods cause skin infections, immune responses to allergies and poor quality skin/coat. They still carry the 'low quality' foods anyways because they need to make money and not every person can afford an 80+ dollar bag of food but they still make us steer people away from it to upsell. That's literally all they care about is money. Groomers are forced to work through their lunch breaks and they change their punches so they don't get reported. They have had about 2 or 3 lawsuits for not paying their groomer's overtime and for their PTO. So no, it's literally none of those reasons. I wouldn't speak on it until you become an experienced groomer in a corporate setting.
