If you haven't checked the story out before a great "true crime story to cover would be the "Boy in the Box" which took place in Philadelphia. The local PD FINALLY gave this poor kid a name after his death over 50 years ago! My grandmom followed this story religiously up till the day she died. It's really heartbreaking what happened to this child, and he deserves to be honored and recognized:) You never know maybe by covering this it may help find who this child belonged to and find out what really happened to him.

I had never heard of the Boy in the Box, but I've just looked it up on KZread and there's heaps of videos that have been uploaded within this week about how they've just solved the case. Thank you for bringing the case to my attention I'll definitely be looking into it but I'm honestly a bit shocked that it's been solved after 65 years. I hope your close to where your grandmother is at rest so you can finally let her know the news, I'm sure her spirit already is aware but im sure she'll be delighted to hear it from you ❤️

The case of HH Holmes has always both intrigued me and absolutely terrified me. Thank you for covering it though, and the Devil in Me is so incredible too!

Read the book “Devil in the White City” by Eric Larson. About the 1894 Worlds fair and HH Holmes.

The idea that he was hiding bodies under floor boards does not make sense. There would be a horrific smell throughout the hotel. Even if he encased them...bodies that are not refrigerated will expand and explode if not taken care of...even a day or two, you'd definitely notice it. *Excellent job w/ the research though...well done :)

Unless he used tons of salt or something to soak up the moisture. Which is what the Egyptians did to the dead prior to mummification -- they put the fresh dead body in the sand so it would soak up all the moisture, before they mummified it.

Honestly the most interesting part of this entire case is the hotel itself, like i want to see the floor plan, its just so creepy to think about

I thought this was pretty crazy but my Dad used to work for a company called "Mudgets" and apparently the owners claimed they were related to H.H Holmes. As a result me and my Dad researched this case a bunch!! Great video as always love 💖

Loey, I think DR Norman Baker pre dates this serial killer. I searched your profile and found nothing posted about him. He opened the Cresent hotel here in Eureka Springs Arkansas in 1886, we just found jars of human remains in 2020. You should check it out and really check into it I would love to see your work done on it and educate everyone about him. He was also a conman and this case reminded me SO MUCH of him that I had to goggle it to make sure that the names were different doctors.

I actually am very interested in the HH holmes case not only because one of my favorite podcasts covered it and it’s a murder case but because I live in Chicago, and have been to some of the remaining buildings from the worlds fair. It is just such an important case that feels special to me because of where I was born and raised and currently live.

H.H. Holmes was the jigsaw killer before we had a jigsaw killer today. Escape rooms are definitely inspired by this SK. The saw movies as well you could say

I don't remember if she mentions the Netflix documentary right now on HH Holmes about him being the Jack the Ripper.

I think it would’ve been cool if they fixed up his hotel (closed trap doors, seal off the stairs that when no where, etc) and let people tour the place. Kinda like the Queen Mary or other places like that. Also, you should bring back “The Disturbing KZread Iceberg” and “Face the Makeup” videos. They are some of my favorites, and haven’t been updated in a year

True, but the building was demolished long ago. Now it’s a post office in a bad neighborhood.

I've been to the location in South Chicago. Very eery vibes when I stepped onto the grass of the property.

I've watched playthroughs for The Devil in Me, knew exactly what this video was as soon as I saw the thumbnail.

Man, HH Holmes has been in my nightmares for a long time. I fear people like him. If I was alive back then, I would look into why people don't go out of his hotel. I wished the police looked into the hotel he ran. And insurance companies caught on faster. I swear he is the worst serial killer ever. And pure nightmare fuel.

There's a few books about this too! One of them I read recently is called "the perfect place to die" it's a good book

But I also wanted to point out (idk if anyone else did) there was a funky audio glitch at minute 3:01 (word contraptions). Probably unintentional and just that, a glitch, but it added to the spookiness.

Been near the property where the House was. I had a bad vibe of the area when my family was near it. I kept looking across the street @ the post office & could see a different building almost ghost like over & around it. I'm not playing when I say I can't describe the reality of the situation. My Dad picked up on it, & asked all the what, where, why, when, how looks that were coming off of me. I told him the Post office had been another building, it was bigger, & what I was looking @ was giving me super weird vibes. My Dad was born in Chicago proper, his family had been there for years & Yes we are talking the knew/ met Capone & others in his "circle"! So needless to say he told me about what the post office had been. I had obviously heard the stories about the Murder house/hotel, but I was born & raised in the Suburbs so personally that place could have been anywhere in the city & I wouldn't have had a clue. & tbh this wasn't internet time period, so it's not like I'd have had immediate access to even see it. I'm sure in old news articles or some book publications, but I'd have had to do all the footwork to have known it beforw were there, & obviously where we were going that day I had no reason to consider it. Lol

I would HIGHLY suggest looking into his great great great grandson. Much of what’s said to identify the body as Holmes such as the dental casts are highly questionable at best and down right laughable when really looked into

Hi Loey! I have a video suggestion that i don't think you've mentioned it before on a previous video (if you did then oof on me😅). It's about the Villisca axe murders. It's a very interesting case and really sad in my opinion. There used to be a website with virtual tour of the house in which you could take a look around with a narator telling the story of each room of the house, but i can't find it anymore.🤔I loved the video! Always the best storytelling! 🧡

This reminds me of the hotel session from American horror story, I think it was based off of this cases

Oh my gosh, I remember first hearing about this from the Erik Larson book "Devil in the White City " and looking it up like this can't be real, he's gotta be exaggerating it. Nope, it was even toned down in the book because he was relating it in terms of how the world's fair affected his ability to find new victims and less on the murders themselves. I highly recommend the book if anyone has the patience to get through the sometimes thick prose.

as my mom’s #1 fan, i have to clear up the stenography thing 😭she’s been a court reporter for longer than i’ve been alive, and it’s pretty much the same thing as what Holmes’ stenographer would have done. they do real-time typing out of people’s words (nowadays it’s usually in court) with a special stenography machine. the machine has less keys than our reg keyboard does, which makes it more efficient, but also means every stenographer knows their own little shorthand language! anyway, next time you see a court show or a court reporter irl, appreciate them a little more :) they are in charge of the entire record of what’s said im a trial :)

Great coverage of this! I really enjoyed it! You didn’t mention this, but there’s also a theory that H.H. Holmes was Jack the Ripper and it’s pretty convincing. His travels line up with the murders and the fact that Jack the Ripper was likely a medical student - definitely look into this! Also, a good read: The Devil in the White City 🏙
