He Told Me He Wants $10,000 For His Morgan Dollar Collection
This is one of the most expensive and sketchy things I've bought at the same time. A guy brings in a the whole collection of Morgan Dollars from 1878-1921. This also includes one of the most rare Morgan Dollars minted the 1893-S Morgan Dollar. He wants $10,000 but the authenticity is hard to confirm on some of the coins. Check out the video and see if we can come to a deal.

This is why I have been working on grading every one of my Morgan Dollars. I had held back a few of the key dates due to being either cleaned or in lower grade, but even an 1893-S with only VF details is better than a unauthenticated one sitting in a book. Sweet video. I enjoyed watching it.

Hi Rob. I agree. Not having them graded and authenticated means getting a much lower offer. It would have been tough to put a value on these as they were. We know it, but watching the video just reinforces how important authenication can be when it comes time to sell. Cheers!

I watch a LOT of resellers on KZread, but this channel and The Hoogs are the two I resonate with the most with BY FAR. A lot of other channels buy SOOO MUCH stuff that I personally would never waste my time buying and listing. Or they just overpay for stuff. Paying $6-$10 for something to sell it for like $24 (I see deals like that all the time) is just not the move. After fees and my time and energy…it’s just not worth it. Anyways, I like this channel because they know what is worth their time. Any other suggestions of channels that any of you guys like that have people who do REALLY well?

Around my area, nobody pays out less than the Pawn Shops. Also, if he is a viewer of the channel, why blur out your face? The whole thing seemed sketch to me.

Thank your for sharing such "risk" information. Being a newbie to coins... well somewhat, I inherited my late father's coin collection, that I received many years ago, but have started going through them and reminiscing the memories of my father pulling out his chest of coins and sharing the history with myself and my 8 siblings. I personally love the "old silver" coins because of their beauty in design. After perusing many YT videos and researching online, I'm learning that there's more to the beauty of a coin... which is quite fascinating. There are no coin shops here on island, so I'm constantly online researching each coin that I find curious. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge... take care.

Really nice collection of Morgan's! A couple looked like they may have been cleaned? Always learning from you gents! Thanks!
I can't even imagine owning a full album of Morgan Dollars, absolutely stunning! Just a heads up, you'll want to test the specific gravity of those coins in conjunction with that Basic/Original Sigma Metalytics PMV because 90% silver and some alloys have the similar resistivity which is the only test being performed with the Original PMV. The following words are directly from a Sigma Rep: "Whenever testing with the PMV Original, and especially when testing 90% silver, it’s critical to confirm the density of the sample in addition to the resistivity testing performed by the PMV." I felt the need to pass this information along so everyone using these machines to test their silver, is aware. I hate seeing people get ripped off with fakes. Sigma Metalytics have other models that will test specific gravity/density for you, but if you don't want to dish out the extra cash (these models are much more expensive), you can easily perform this test using a fairly accurate scale with a resolution of 1 mg or even 10 mg and distilled water (but it will be a long process lol). Hope this helps and great buy!

Very interesting video! That was an impressive collection, consisting of some rare/key dates, including the 1893-S, but a significant number of those coins were cleaned, some harshly so, and would not be straight graded by PCGS. I thought your offer of 9K was a very fair one, especially with the caveat that if you could command a lot more for a few of the toughest dates, that would add to the purchase price.
Great videos. Great getting to meet you today at Summer FUN!
Extremely informative video and you should be applauded for this educational video!!! I can't wait to see the results!!!
A lot of those marked Mint state that have a dull look to the luster on the cheek and other high points or breaks in the kart wheel effect would come back details if graded. They have either been dipped or polish. Detail coin prices usually drop by a grade in value depending on how harsh the cleaning was. 9 grand seems safe though as long as there's no fakes on the key dates.

Hi Anarchist Greg! Yes, I would never do this, as the coins could be cleaned. At the same time, this is the business local coin shops are in. The dealer can grade them and make a mint on these coins, they also know exactly what they are looking at. They can estimate the grade better than anyone.

Nice collection. Can’t wait to see the results or more info on this collection..
Nice pickup, I'll be curious to find out when you end up getting for that collection.
I'm glad I came across this. This proves why I feel grading is soo important. There is a huge amount of fake morgans, people often over grade their own coins. If you have a collection like this "Graded" then you're better off. You'll get closer to the amount it's worth cause it's guaranteed to be at least that grade. Sure grading is subjective and everyone has their opinion on grades, but it's also protecting your investment.
A lot of those Morgan’s were over graded. Some were cull, and others were fine to ef yes. Key dates were in lower grade, but still have value. The collection though was not worth near that which he was asking.

Love this channel! I collect so this is really a big info on coins! Thanks guys!
This guys story of how he got these seems very shady. Glad to see you putting them on the laser to test metal content. Morgans range incredibly widely in price. Having cleaned coins labeled mint state is a huge red flag in general on whoever gave these coins their amateur grading . There are 3 categories of Morgans according to the greysheet. Those with mirror finishes and frosted edges being worth the big money. (these look like proof set coins.) I cant say whether this was a good buy or not at 9 grand. Without grading, its a risk. Be careful with the words of morgan collectors. They all think themselves as experts. The price they pay for fakes is why fakes exist. For some of these key dates, there are probably more fakes than real circulating in the coin trade.

I concur. Most collectors want stabbed and graded for the ones over $500 in value. Also, too many cleaned here. And the CCs seem to all be about the same average circulated...them looking the same is a red flag as far as authentication

SUB added, hope I’m entered for that giveaway. Outside of that , some of those definitely looked tooled, cleaned, and one even had a counterfeit look on it. On the other hand one of those rarities you hit could be worth the whole cost of doing business. Great breakdown for new collectors. ALSO, REMEMBER DONT BUY THE GRADE BUT THE COIN, EVEN IN SLABS. Grading is also extremely subjective

I'd personally be extremely leery of someone bringing such a collection of 'presumably' valuable Morgans to a 'pawn shop' rather than first trying to sell those coins to true experts who routinely deal with such coins every day! Nothing against pawn shops. I'm just smelling a rat who knows better than to try and sell these things to anyone who truly knows how to properly grade and price them! Perhaps they are actually what the seller claims them to be, but probably not. Valuable coins are rarely found bound in silly books like that, at least not by intelligent owners/collectors. Valuable coins are typically graded and properly housed within nice cases that proudly display the name of the grader and also the details of the coin. There's also the chance that they are 'exactly' what the seller claims... but also 'stolen' and "hotter than a two-dollar pistol"!!!
@nickspiroulias3651

The seller knew a few things about Morgans , so might be hot if he went there instead of trying the coin shops first , Like don,t take the albums there , take a few with and grade some higher end ones to prove that they are real to anyone with questions . . To me who ever had these seems odd that they kept the real good ones together like that to be touched by greasy hands and or dropped and dent them up on a hard surface it,s odd . I have some and I know about grades , like the 1895 O there if it,s not in ms state it,s like $800 , but if it jumps to ms 60 it,s 20 grand but if cleaned then half of that also , hey but good luck with them hope all works out for you guys !, cheers!
