He's No Wemby: What To Expect From Alex Sarr

Спорт

By now, you've probably heard that the NBA's 2024 draft class is ... weak, to put it mildly. But even still, there's always talent to be found, and the consensus among scouts right now is that the top talent in the 2024 class is French big man Alex Sarr. So, what will the Hawks be getting in this relatively unknown seven-footer?

The 2024 draft is equivalent to a normal draft if you remove picks #1, #2, #3, #7, #12, #16. So the #1 picks is like a #4 pick, 2 is like 5, etc. To the ppl bringing up 2020, it wasn't considered that weak just that the top 3 (Ant, Wiseman, LaMelo) was worse than you'd expect and after that Patrick Williams, Okoro, Okongwu, Killian, Avdija were all weak for a top 10. Guys like Haliburton, Maxey, and Bane ended up hitting, but that's somewhat rare. this is more comparable to 2013 or 2000.

Can we stop calling classes weak before they play? Just because scouts can’t easily project a star doesn’t make a class weak, and they shouldn’t be scouts then. I remember ppl said same abt 2020, AE was a “inefficient shot chucker”, Lamelo had hype but shot 38% fg, and the draft “fell off” after Wiseman. Now Maxey, Melo, Hali, AE, Quickley, Bane, Vassell, etc all came out of that draft.
