He's a Legend! The Royal Enfield Classic 350 searches for Robin Hood in Yorkshire

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 takes me on a ride through Yorkshire in search of Robin Hood.
Nottingham has claimed Robin Hood as one of theirs, but the evidence suggests he was from Wakefield area in Yorkshire. The forest of Barnsdale is where multiple stories and evidence points to.
Grad your cuppa and let’s go hunting.
Ride safe,
Dave

As a child I shot thousands of arrows pretending I was Robin Hood lol Now in my 70s I still love and enjoy archery

According to another legend, Robin Hood married Marian at St.Mary's church in Edwinstowe. The town has a statue of them in their honour. Various parts of the country lay claim to Robin Hood. I doubt we'll ever know the truth as the stories have been changed so many times over many centuries.

No doubt in my mind, Robin was a Donny lad! We even have an airport named in his honour! lol. Although I’m pretty sure Finningley village was in Nottinghamshire until the boundary changes around 1974, when South Yorkshire was invented 😱. A great ride around the area. I believe Oldn goldie did a bit about that dilapidated house in one of his vlogs. Looking forward to further adventures.

Lovely combination of biking and interesting history, we have a Robin Hoods chair at Ennerdale Water in the Lake District, it’s a rocky outcrop at the lakeside.

Well, I've lived in the area for over 25 years and I never knew any of that! Been over the went bridge thousands of times, never noticed that blue plaque! Will stop next time. I often ride round that area, love that lane to Burghwallis! Great video.

I often go through Norton, on my Norton !! At 19.16 there's a lane off back to your left, it's the drive down in to a redundant quarry with a house nestling in the bottom, you would have got a glimpse of it if you had been coming the way. Also at 7.36 there is a house in front of you where the entire corner on both storeys is green glass, looks a bit weird in the daytime but beautiful when the rooms are lit at night as it nullifies the green considerably.

That was a nice meander, Dave. Interesting to hear the historical fcts, legends and myths - not to mention pure conjecture - about Robin Hood.

I enjoyed this video. My first two-wheeled vehicle was a Robin Hood brand green bicycle I got for Christmas when I was ten years old. It had a working speedometer and I attached a clothes pin to hold a playing card against the spokes so it sounded like a motor when the wheels turned. 50 years later I had a Bullet 500 which sounded a lot better!

Enjoyed the video. In fact I was thinking of somewhere to go today and although I’ve been to the places you mention that’s where I’ll go on this sunny Sunday! Funny enough that little diversion you took via Skelbrooke I often use when going up to Campsall and beyond!

Great (and interesting) video. I know this area quite well as I have friends in Campsall and South Kirkby. By the way next time you are Peak District way an interesting tie in to the Robin Hood theme is that Little John is buried in Hathersage churchyard.

Thank you for this nice video. I have a black and maroon RE Classic 350 also here in Thailand but my seats are brown. Mine is a 2023 model. I love seeing the English countryside and really appreciate your history about Robin Hood. It makes me want to study it more myself. I am subscribed to your channel and will be looking forward to future videos. Thanks again....Sal : )

There are currently around 17 different places claiming Robin Hood came from their area, I even heard a Scotsman saying he was actually called Robin Mc Hood, I guess we'll never know for sure. But he was often refered to as Robin of Loxley, so where was the village of Loxley, is that the way to go ?

Do you know I was up Nottingham in Sherwood Forest the one day when a man in green tights , green tunic and brown hat and he said in a broad Yorkshire accent hand over ya money I said no and chased him all the way back up Yorkshire 🫢🤓🧌
