Just a theory: what if Woods was hearing voices coming from the walls way before the others did (he just happened to have a homemade listening device at the right time) and didn’t want to let on because just like Ben, everyone would say he was “hearing things” or “being crazy”? Maybe Woods and Ben have a connection that hasn’t been discovered yet? Maybe that’s why he wanted to leave before he ended up like Ben and when the voices followed him back to his apartment he was reluctant at first to let Matt investigate further because the voices might of told him to take the file?

I think woods didn't actually "quit" because of the ghost lead them to his apartment. As shown in this episode he stole a file and hid it in his apartment. To highly reduce the possibility for him to get caught, he "quits" and the ghost leading them to his apartment happen to be a very good chance as it's a sensible reason for him to quit. But at the same time, it's a double edged sword as they then searches his apartment (in this episode). And maybe the ghost didn't lead them to the apartment but the files itself.

Imagine Matt just says "we'll miss you woods!... now let us in your apartment!"

Yea it's actually very uncomfortable especially in this one. He even says "Woods got freaked out rightfully so" and then goes on to say "Ok plan A we convince him to stay. Plan B we get the law involved" and they way they were talking while setting up the party just sounds so manipulative but not in a "Let's convince our friend not to leave" more of like a "Let's make him feel so bad and guilt trip him into staying" It just made me uncomfortable

That true but to play devils advocate here I think it for the best some times a leader got to play a villian. Mike case there was no other choice since nobody had mike skills and mike could have very easily processed the recording with out listening. I supposed it on both of them. And for woods case I get that woods scare who wouldn’t be but as Matt said the situation connect to them. Quitting before fixing a problem doesn’t change anything. Also having a legal investigation is just messy. Maybe I’m a Matt simp but i think it the right call

Matt's behavior recently reminds me of... Someone like Syphus or the Phantom. First, he forced his friend & employee (Mike) to do something he wasn't comfortable doing, even after he initially refused. Now he coerces a friend & employee (Woods) to stay. We understand why he did these things. Someone else brought up Matt was Mike's boss & everyone was being a little manipulative to get Woods to stay. Matt has just been... going a little further. It's like it has been becoming easier for Matt to push (maybe cross) the line with people he cares about, at least when it comes to anything relating to 863. Remember he was dosed with serum, it was stabilized due to the radiation, but not neutralized. He was also forcefully injected with something by those sketchy... Doctors? What if these things are slowly affecting Matt's behavior? The Phantom seemed to focus hard on a goal & do anything, sacrifice anything, justify anything to achieve it. He was very extreme, but the serum has been affecting him for years. Matt's just barely starting to act like this, but the serum hasn't had nearly as much time to affect him. That's just a theory, a KZread theory... but even if I'm wrong, something is up with Matt.

I love how Bailey is now one of the main characters, although very unacknowledged. Her character also gives me a bit of suspicion. Why was she randomly/suddenly included? 10/10 the most awkward 863 episode they’ve made. Even more awkward than back when they were trying to do “vlog style” in season 0. Also Matt has started becoming more aggressive toward people which doesn’t seem like a great sign, especially since it is still very unknown what the effects of the serum are even though he has been “cured”

This was really sad, awkward and then shocking at the end, but judging by that post a few days ago, (If you could ask a syntec experiment survivor anything, what would it be?) I am guessing that Woods is probably a survivor, and he hid the file because he didn't want them to question him about it.

Woods: Almost leaves when someone knows where he lives Sam: Barely cares when someone predicted her birth

Can't blame him, if i heard stuff like that i would probably head out of there full on 'Imma go get some milk' style

I don't care about people telling me that I'm breaking the spell but Matt and Woods bounce SO WELL off of each other. The conversation just between the two of them away from the others in the studio, the shot of Woods standing in the shadow of the doorway while Matt is like why you hiding this file. I'm convinced I could watch a full episode with just the two of them angrily debating each other what this whole mystery is about.

The amount of though and immersion of this story is incredible. This is simply outstanding the amount of work and time being put into this series let alone the season I would've thought this was a download from netflix but no youtubers that have this much talent deserve recognition the consistency and the call-backs the comedy and they horror and a lot of action mixed perfectly with this amazing story that was written with care and slow process. This whole situation was very awkward, woods was visibly uncomfortable. I understand woods leaving but I also kind of understand the rest of the teams point of view where they feel as they need answers and a pleading desperately not only so that there friend won’t leave but also so all this can end.

Leaving us on a cliffhanger like that at the end of the year? Jesus, my heart can't take this!! The plot thickens and I love it so much! Mike as an employee is an important part of the team but story wise he wasn’t really apart of it

The way he was talking to woods was kinda like attacking him instead of being understanding why he didn’t want to be there anymore like the “why don’t you tell me” like his tone of voice was off putting

Matt and wood’s conversation sounds a lot like Wes and deb’s conversation from the tapes

Bailey is getting them in trouble she asked them to follow the voice and said matt was going to far when she caused it than she says 'we have to convince him'

Is it just me or is Matt starting to turn into a different person? Maybe it’s just the stress getting to him but he feels more pushy than he did before. Twice now he has forced a good friend of his into doing something they didn’t want to do and created this tension between them, all to get what he wants. Like with Mike, he could have asked as a friend, they could have had a conversation, but instead Matt jumps straight into “I’m your boss, do as I say,” which made everything awkward for everyone. And now he’s doing it with Woods too. Instead of mentioning all the good points they brought up, like “whether you quit or not, this is still tied to you,” Matt went headfirst into saying “you stay or I make this a legal thing.” And he always claims that his friends are abandoning him. Sorry Matt but it kinda feels like you’re pushing them away. I get that you want to get through this, but what’s more important? Solving a mystery that you’ve been working on for years, or keeping strong relationships with the people you care about?

It's very upsetting and uncomfortable. After the threat of making it a legal thing woods even tries to call him out saying that's not how you treat a friend or employee and Matt questions if he's a friend because he wants to leave for good reason and that he isn't an employee anymore. When he said he wasn't an employee anymore it sounded so aggressive almost like "You're not an employee anymore you don't get to question that or be treated properly" When Woods comes out and says he's staying for a bit longer he looks so defeated and uncomfortable.

I totally agree. I wouldn't be surprised if when it all comes to and end--hoping that it does at some point--Matt's going to look around and notice that none of the people that he started with, his friends, aren't around because he pushed them away. I hate to be so negative but that's what it's starting to look like 😣

If we put all the clues together, walkie talkie was dropped, Woods fob was copied, Woods geting hit and the phantom getting the computer, I mean think about it for a second. The ghost might have been leading sam, matthias, and Bailey there for a reason....the reason being Woods. He had the file and he might be working for syphus or maybe even deb. What if this is just an act that woods has been playing to give information to the others apart of this plan. Its something to think about but at the same time My heart is telling me Woods can't be able to do this. Its hard to think about but maybe this was another part of project 863, The voices have incriminated Woods making the need for him to quit stand out more then ever. Mattias however is turning more and more like what we saw in Dep or Ben. Manipulative. Keep working Everyone but watch for the little things. Have a great day everyone.

what do you mean it would make no sense, it makes total sense lmfao... he had a piece of evidence that he admited to stealing.... they 100% have every right to question his trust especially since he stole it and then literally tried to quit after, to be fair he may be innocent and have a reason that he stole the evidence, even if he did have a reason and he is not betraying the team... they still have 100% every right to question him and his trust.

Matthias is starting to sound a lot like syphus when he (he=Syphus) said something along the lines of "Sometimes you have to be the bad guy to get things done." That also goes back to the comparison of Matthias being similar to Syphus,Woods being like Wesley, and Sam being potrayed as Deborah.

@@sarahdoebler6707 Tbh same, especially with his attitude towards Woods and Mike, where he actually sounds manipulative. Woods at the end of this episode was giving off a weird vibe too with the way he was looking at Matt as well as him shutting the door.

@@whit8974 It was very uncomfortable especially in this one when they are talking and woods is showing he's uncomfortable and not ok with it and Matt threatens him with getting the law involved and saying "Would a friend do this?" even when it came to him saying "You're not an employee anymore" it was oddly aggressive

tanner loves woods so much and its so endearing

The party part of the video gave me some 'The Office' vibes

I have 3 theories 1. The file Matt found is of woods and he is an employee of syntec. And he quits to hide that. 2. Woods was a patient at syntec and they wiped his memory so he forgets he was until he finds the file. 3. Woods is actually indeed phyphus 590 in disquise

in this case matt wasnt really threatening woods, if he called the police about the writings on the wall in the studio itd still lead to his place, was more of a warning

Is it just me or does Ben look similar enough to Woods to possibly be a relative. That is possibly why Woods took the file...

I get the sense Woods recognized the file is about his mother. That is why he took it, and that is why he quit.

I think he said that because he went to prison to visit Ben, maybe you got confused because of the upload schedule. Or maybe I’m just wrong.

Is woods working for Syphus. That would and another explanation to why he dropped the walki talki, got hit over the head by a phantom allowing them to gain access to the computer, the reason Michael quit, and got his fob copied.

It’s been a theory for so long and every series there someone saying woods is the trader i think there finally starting to connect the dots

I'm seeing a lot of people talking about how Matt is being really manipulative, but I feel like Sam and Bailey are just as bad. It was THEIR idea to have the goodbye party and THEIR idea to "tell him how much they need him". Sam even keeps on saying that the party is to play on how much they need him and that feels really manipulative in my opinion.

Agreed. Everyone tends to forget that a lot of the decisions Matt makes are group decisions everyone agreed to, suggested, or had a hand in.

I know!😊 I've been here since day one.

I stand by my theory that we are seeing Parallel time lines of the things happening at syntec and now spellbound. It is all happening again they have always told us it would. We have our Syphus (Matt), We have our Deb (Sam), We have our Jordan Kendall (Bailey) and we have our Wesley (Woods). Each person we are seeing in this current time line is starting to align more and more with what we know of their past versions.

This is even sadder to us now that was actually doesn’t work for Matts company anymore

Can we just note mike is probably like I didn’t get a goodbye party

I have a feeling woods has been secretly working with Deb. Remember when Matt destroyed the server woods just wanted to shut it off in case they needed her help again. What if Woods found a way to get in contact with Deb and she asked him to take the file? Just a theory.

what I think is the phantoms/voices in the wall. I think they could be minimizing matt to just himself so it could just be him against syphus and co.
