I've been struggling with whether or not I should cut a character out of my book completely. I finally figured it out. Cutting a character isn't easy, but it's important to know when they don't serve a purpose.

That had to have been hard cutting a characters scenes out of the book, especially if it's one that you adore. Sometimes I like when a character is mentioned in one book, and then explored later. It's like aha! Look at Sirius lending his motorbike to Hagrid in book one. Who knew that he was secretly there all along.
