This past year he's been involved with a very toxic woman and it's having a regressive effect on his healing and life. I was becoming his emotional dumpster and it was turning codependent. His family is very well off, and his girlfriend told her brother that she'd have a child with my friend because, and I quote, "I know his mom and dad would take care of me". She comes from a very different background. She broke up with him after a false accusation of cheating. He was calling me multiple times a day and not doing well. Then.. complete silence. I knew he got back with her and decided I needed to step back. After a month he reached out and apologized for how he treated me. I said it was best to take space and work on ourselves for now because I can't do anyone's work for them and I have to refill my cup right now.

@@paigewalker2916 No, we're not "emotionally involved" like that. We've always been just friends but he was coming to me to emotionally dump and vent ALL THE TIME. I have female friends who do the same. Asking for advice, what to do.. almost wanting me to make decisions for them because they're confused or to validate them.. but they'd always do the opposite.
