@@pickmick6094 That's a standard for japanese super robot anime: Juzo Kabuto, his son Kenzo (from the "Mazinger" series), Machine Father, aka professor Shiba (from Koutetsu Jeeg), the old professor who built the Fighbird unit and his sidekick Thunder Baron in the Fighbird series, professor Saotome and his Getter Robo... the list goes on and on.

Actually, just like in this movie, you can change the past. It's just that you aren't very imaginative at all to write it in the script to create the scene. Let that be a lesson to you.

Those mechs gave 90s anime vibes. Voltes V, Daimos, and Mazzinger Z were the mechs before Gundams became mainstream. Good times.

I know it isn't that kind of movie, but if they give a copy of the blueprint to the military, they can produce hundreds of red barons and hundreds of missiles that can actually hurt the black baron.

I'm a bit confused as to why the aliens wanted to kill Kurenai or why the others needed him to pilot the giant robot. If it was because he had the capacity to operate such a device it seems rather pointless without a giant robot of his own to use.

Kenichiro Kurenai (scientist older brother) promised Ken Kurenai (boxer younger brother) when they were kids that he'll build a giant robot someday so that his younger brother can pilot it. Kenichi insists on keeping that promise no matter what, so Ken is the only pilot that Red Baron recognizes (he set that condition when Koji asked him to build it). It's weird that this recap doesn't refer to them as brothers.

@@PhailPhisher Yes, it does seem weird. Still I can't understand the reasoning. I have since seen the movie and if I'm understanding everything correctly the siblings new Ken would be killed thanks to their knowledge of the future. This means in the original time line they are from Kenichiro was kidnapped and a few years later the aliens go and kill his brother. Being unable to locate Kenichiro in this time line didn't change their actions and they targeted Ken on the same day anyway. I understand why he is important to his brother and by extension his brother's grand kids, but not to the aliens. While he is the only one able to pilot the robot, the aliens had no way of knowing that. They didn't even seem to know about the robot until after the attempt on his life.

@@CaptainFishbones I could understand the case if he had ESP, his great niece does, but the movie never makes that clear. I could think of a few ESP abilities that could make him both a good boxer and a good pilot, making him a target for the aliens.

I liked it. I want more. I want everyone to have psychic sword teleportation and wear enhanced combat suits from the future when not piloting large mech robots called barrons. This was just right. Mmmmm..

It is a reboot movie of the two showa era tokusatsu series Silver Kamen and Super Robot Red Baron fused together

I saw this movie a couple of years ago but this recap makes it hella funny.

This movie was the crossover between 2 old toku shows being rebooted at the same time, that bo one asked for but needed desperately lol.

Del Toro got his idea from Japanese Tokusatsu and Mecha-based anime....

It's a live action Megas XLR

side note this is technically a Tokusatsu crossover of 2 different shows SIlver Kamen "Silver mask" and Red baron
