420,000.and 5% down on..20 year term mortgage from TD Bank works out to $2900 monthly payments plus taxes , insurance , water , power , etc... Could be $3800 per month , seem expensive for a two bedroom... Would it not be cheaper to rent ?

I'm about to purchase a new washing machine. The one I have is about 15 years old, and our water here by the sea has so much limescale in it that machines don't last as long.

Oh yes that will also affect the machine. Isn’t there a way the water can be treated before it goes to the washing machine?

@@diamondsinnations The water company do their best, but there simply is no way to clean all of it out. I have a water filtration jug to remove limescale from the water before I use it to cook or drink, but I still have limescale on my pitcher and kettle. I just bought a new kind of filter that is supposed to remove more of it, but limescale is quite tough to remove, and can't be removed completely. So, I don't drink tapwater, as it has even more limescale than my filtered water does. Even if I chose to only cook with bottled water, it's still in the wash machine, shower and toilet. I live right next to the sea; but we're a small island, so limescale is just part of life.

You cannot have a party without jollof rice!
