This is what happens when you turn a Quora post into a movie, but seeing an actual person go through it makes you want to rethink your whole life.

I needed that. When a lot of his "friends" bragged about how "great" their lives were, I had this gut instinct that perhaps they were all busy trying to hide their insecurities under a thin veneer of borrowed "success". I think I should listen 👂 to my gut instincts more often.

I still can't get over the fact that he shouted at and insulted a friend who not only returned his call, helped his son get into Harvard and shared stories of other friends, just because he acted arrogant once and didnt return a call in the past. People are lacking basic courtesy and decency these days. And yes I got the moral of the story, thankyou.

@@cambiteroswebmasterNope, I don't think it was poor writing. We do lash out at people for their past behavior because of the things that are going on in our heads, ignoring the support these people are showing AT THE PRESENT. Of course that doesn't erase the past, that doesn't mean the politician friend may not have any dirt on him - we don't know. But when we begin to realize something, we suddenly want the whole world to realize the same immediately 😊 We forget that wisdom is incomplete without compassion. So these contradictions - I want to call out to a guy for being corrupt but I also want to use his corrupt influence to help me out in my life 😂😂 - are pretty much realistic, humane.
This is why I stopped using Facebook or Instagram. Very toxic places full of narcissists that will crush your self esteem and make you believe your life sucks.

This movie was such an eye opener to me. There are lot of people specially men that does this. We compare our life with friends. Thankfully my friends are not as bad as this guys. When I told my feelings to one of my my friend he said this: when ever you fell like you are not achieving enough. Remember one thing - You are living someone else’s dream. That was so heart touching I still remember it.
Learning to fall in love with life once again and to appreciate the world without owning it!... Love this movie!

Today, I was recollecting my last 10 years. How I’m not as successful compared to the people that I know. Which led me to a downward spiral of negative thoughts and emotions. For some serendipitous reason, this video popped up on my feed, and change my perspective.
In my 60's and have what many DON'T - when I'm by myself - in my room - door closed - alone in the dark/quiet - looking at my life - I have PEACE, JOY (deep happiness), and feel REALLY LOVED.
I often have this outlook these days. Sometimes, we can't help but compare our lives to others. I always remind myself that doing our best in our situation is enough.

An even better Ben Stiller movie is The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. It's so good, and worth watching for the ending alone.
This is a good reminder. I'm getting sued, my girlfriend wants to break up with me and my research work is going poorly. I'm behind in life compared to my friends who are married with homes and kids. But at the same time I have no idea how their marriages are or how their kids are or if they can even afford the homes they live in. I have a lot to be grateful for even though this is a rough patch

Jealousy is self inflected wound.
The "bigger" and "higher" status you get, the bigger and higher your problems become. It's always those at the top who fall the hardest when they do. It's just a different set of problems and enemies when you get to the top, no amount of money will change that.

I completely agree with what you're saying, but in all honesty the Tate brothers have always said to not compare yourself to them. Andrew especially has said to look at your own life and if you aren't happy with it then find ways to make it better. Trust me I am not the biggest supporters of the two, but they have always talked about hard work and how you can not separate that from success. I have to give respect to whom respect is due.

I am just putting this comment here to remember this lesson forever. Life is a balance. A balance between pleasure and work. And a balance between hunger for more and being happy with what you have. You are not going anywhere and neither is this world so stay here and enjoy your life, go through hardships with a smile knowing it will end.

TBH, all my friends got married in their early 20s. By 30, they were looking down on me. I had an amazing runway modeling career, went to college, started a biz, got to travel the world- and they tried to make me feel like something was wrong with me. I kept doing what I wanted bc I didn’t have regrets. Met my hubs at 37 and sold my company. I am 46, & 3rd year law student. I have no regrets. My friends are all divorced except 1 who stays with a cheater who had her daughter calling his mistress “mommy 2.” I see vids of this generation shaming women for wanting to have careers and goals and put aside marriage and motherhood. DONT. Women are much more healthier having babies in their 30s. Ppl live longer and are less likely to divorce and finances are easier.

I am an intelligent, curious and healthy 57 year old woman who lives in her van. If I compared my life “on paper” to many others my age I would come up far short. All that would do is make me miserable. I know better. I know it’s standards set by society. I truly don’t miss anything that I don’t have. I’ve had an amazing, blessed, interesting life (so far).
Happy father’s day.
