For base bombing, 50kg bombs give best score. 24 x 50kg per base and you can destroy two bases in one battle.

On the cooling system: The automatic engine control will fully close the radiators when WEP is enabled. With manual engine control, you can disable automatic radiators, which will give you more WEP endurance.

hm since they disabled the destroyer main for AA I can imagine. However there are still a lot of light and heavy cruisers with decent 5'' AA guns. At what altitude are you bombing?

@@magscorch7706 It really is a wonderful bird in my eye. From how groundbreaking it was, its untapped potential, its excellent flight performance (allies thought its dive bombing was due to airbrakes, it just had a strong airframe) I also think the design looks rather nice. The engines had problems, yes, but if the RLM had the economy and research capasity the USA had, it would have far surpassed the b17 in terms of capability long term. I would consede the B29 is the king of wwii bombers though.

8:27 You dropped way to many of the FC500, you can take more than one base with them as fire bombs have a DOT after the initial impact. 9:26 Manual Engine Control with full open radiators and maxed prop pitch helps incredibility here (just like on the Me 264), a must for any bomber really.

I generally don't go into much detail about manual engine control since the vast majority of players don't use it, and it would add 10+ minutes to every review of a prop aircraft talking about settings at different altitudes and such.

God I wish there was at least one surviving example of one of these planes. I'd give my left arm to see one in a museum :( Allegedly, there's maybe one more still intact, or at least in pieces waiting to be re-assembled in a hangar somewhere out in the desert...

What do we have to do to get bomber cockpits? Give Gaijin free of charge the ultimate solution to strategic bombers?

When this and the Ju-288 was 5.7 i flew both a lot, but haven't even touched them since their BR got nerfed! Now the Ju-188 is my choice if i need a bomber for Germany above 4.7 (the Do 217's BR) till the 2 Arados.

This bomber is fun to snipe ships using the fritz X in navel battles. Also, it's ma day 2 of requesting to review the t-90 bhishma

PSA the Fritz X is a glide bomb not a anti ship missile. Also not a great track record other than Roma and hitting Warspite (she got better)

on more than one occasion, a few minutes after winning a long brutal but fair slugging match with an enemy scharnhorst, ive receive a courtesy fritz-x expedited delivery for my trouble :/

There are more coming (any plenty done already). I try to space them out since lower tier vehicle reviews barely get like 1/4th the views of the flashy jets and stuff.

The failure of the He-177 can be heavily traced to 2 major factors: 1.) Constantly shifting requirements hobbled it: in particular, RLM’s requirement that it be capable of dive bombing instead of level bombing only. This forced it into a twin-propeller design, which leads onto the second major flaw… 2.) The mechanical failure of the DB 610 “power system” (a pair of DB605 engines, mechanically linked where the two engines were on opposite sides of a shared crankshaft), in particular its cooling system. This arrangement had serious problems with overheating and many of them would catch on fire during development. Timing both engines was also very finicky and mis-timing them could (at best) dramatically reduce power, and at worst, destroy the engine. Later models than this (the proposed He-177B) would finally escape from dive bombing requirements, and this in turn allowed the design to move to a more conventional 4-engine, 4-propeller design… but by that point Germany had little resources left, especially to waste on a heavy bomber project that was unlikely to affect immediate concerns. I imagine that had Wever not died so suddenly, that the development of this (or one of its competitors, such as the Me264 that also competed for the same requirement) might not have failed quite so spectacularly. Of course, Germany’s resource-strapped economy might not have permitted significant construction anyways…

There is a unique prototype called the He 177 B with 4 built, which was a quad engine/propeller variant using the DB 603 engine, as opposed to the strange 4 engine/2 propeller using the DB 601. Otherwise it is essentially identical to the one here in game. Could be a fun low rank event reward, good collectible item for the rare German heavy bomber fans

G'day Tim, Ahh what a splendid surprise at 5pm anywhom the Heinkel He 177 A-5 Greif is well okay I guess but it's the largest glide bomber in game and had a bad reputation for engine fires eeech. But for this game it's effective in NF against warships especially ones without HA HAA (so most Kaiserliche Marine warships OOF) & The PC-1400 can be devastating against such ships ntm the Greif is definitely a better aircraft in NF then the Heinkel He 111 H-6 for the purpose of getting to high alt (although the He 111 can work as long as the ships AA is knocked out). Wishful thinking would see us getting the torpedo bomber variant and or the anti tank version or the rocket armed one or hell even the night fighter model all of which would be grand additions if added.

If you want to land on the airfield, don't waste your time on the landing gear. Just slow down to about 300kmh and just do a belly landing, as long as you don't have any serious damage, you can land and take off so much faster in that way.

It would be a nice plane if half the matches just wouldn't end before getting to a base after climbing to a safe-ish altitude (compared to the usual unskilled spaceclimber wannabes getting the climb angles wrong)instead of instantly getting something like an F7F , SK60 or F84 in the face seconds after spawn. (i think the BI also gets matched at this br. had it in a match with a G8) Other times the match ends with the last afk. guy hanging at your altitude only being there to block your actions only to die or crash as the last alive wasting your boosters. Bombin's a gr8 job m8! Matches got short, maps are usually still too small with way few targets for this type of gameplay to gain any fun factor. It's definitely one of the better choices to get tasks done though basebombing tasks got so grindy they aren't even worth doing anymore unless it's a smaller daily and then just a Swedish or Japanese light bomber and a bit of basestealing....baseloaning...basesharing, -that's the word for my completely non-toxic light bomber gameplay-gets the job done faster. The Ju spam can be actually sometimes an advantage with this as they almost certainly don't end up killing the enemy team before you could get to a target, neither the high alt meta off-meta teammates. It's funny they put an anti-griefing system for teamkills which can be easily countered by just having a lot of vehicles and not paying for repairs but overly short matches are still fine and basically the norm when there's arcade for people who want exactly that.

I'd say the computer-controlled gunners have actually done their best work for me on this plane.

If the blindspot is below and to the side, why not just fly at treetop level? would that be more effective?

This thing wasn't fun AT ALL playing AirRB a year ago with constant ju288 teams it was just a failure EVERY time. This thing was at the worst BR for airRB I almost spaded it but just said forget this crap and have like 3 more mods to research on it for it to be spaded. But forget that BS no way not gonna go threw that again.

Oh god, thats a lot of mistakes/half ass knowledge. Lemme start out: Cooling: - set up mec - open radioators fully -cooling almost solved (takes way longer to overheat) Energy retention: - set prop pitch to 100% and enable auto prop pitch control again. If you now need to dump speed activate manual prop pitch (it should save the percentage if the axis is disabled, if not you need to turn on “save setting of disabled axis” in mec controls) and go to 0% throttle. Bam, airbrake. You wont ever overrev btw, since that thing has prop feathering. Trust me, that warning at takeoff is “fake”. Wont damage your engines. Base bombing: - first of all you only need a few firebombs to destroy a base since they also do damage over time after the intitial impact damage. (I guess you need 3-4 flamm 500 bombs) - you should use the 2x 1800kg + 6x 500kg bombs. 2 1800kgs on the first base and the 6 500kgs on the 2nd. On 3 base maps put 3 500kgs per base and spare the 1800kgs for the af (cuz they cant be dropped individually and on 3 base maps 1 sc 1000 is enough for a base. So youd be wasting 1,3 bombs). You can bind a button i think its “select secondary armaments” or so that lets you select which bombs youre gonna drop first. - btw, regular bombs net more rp and sl than firebombs. Why? Every loadout has its own rp and sl modifier. And since firebombs are lighter per base damage (means you plane has way better flight characteristics than with regular bombs that could destroy the same amount of bases) gaijin gives them a lower reward multiplier. Otherwise theyd be the braindead option. Also firebombs dont give you a lot of the tnt equivalent bonus. Big bombs do and that bonus is pretty substantial. So use the 2 1800 + 6 500 for base bombing. Fritx x steering: -dont make a fool of yourself and steer it like him. Go to controls and make the axis which control the fritz x into a relative control axis. Now you can “steer” your reticle within the 4 lines and the bomb will hit exactly the reticle. Thx for reading it through. Pls like my comment so that others see it too. Or just pin it. I wouldve included more information, but i dont have the time nor do i want to write so much on my mobile. Just remember, wt is an incredibly complex games which doesnt tell you shit about half its hidden mechanics. Have a great day y’all and cu on the battlefield.
