Give root to terminal type sudo su and then fdisk -l

IM NOT FROM GOOGLE!! on [sudo mkfs.ext4 -L persistence /dev/sdb1] it says: /dev/sdb1 is mounted; will not make a filesystem here! :/ how can i fix it

seems like everyone is using a windows machine and Universal USB Installer that is a .exe file . to write the ISO . I dont have windows, dont want windows ANYTHING . These commands should work from a Manjaro but it doesnt . Have been trying all day

*** FOR THOSE WHO'S PERSISTENCE IS NOT WORKING *** For me, everything was working fine but when I restarted the Kali, the changes were not getting saved ( basically persistence was not working). My mistake was I was not setting a persistence size limit while making the usb bootable drive in Rufus. The persistence slider was set to zero ( which signifies persistence disabled ) When I again rebuild the bootable drive with the persistence slider set to 10GB , my persistence was working fine. I have been struggling for this shit from a long time.

Either type sudo before your command, as " sudo fdisk -l" This should give you the necessary permissions. Or you can also type in "sudo -i". This will set you as root(admin), and you will have all access

The device contains vfat signature and it will be removed by a write command see fdisk(8) man page and --wipe option for more details.

Device does not contain a recognized partition table. Created a new DOS disklabel with disk identifier 0×9b674034.
