Dimitry was a flying specialist. He was jumping quite early, because of the World Cup positions, but the judges didn’t lower the gate before him. The conditions were good, the jump was perfect… well, maybe except for the landing 😅

I just realised something, after almost 9 years. Vassiliev must be well aware that he is not the best at landing, he never was. Why the hell would he not cancel the jump when he realises how far it would get? Today, every jumper like for example Zajc at Kulm 2023 would just stick their hands out to land earlier. But Vassiliev for some reason just.. went for it I guess, to get completely rag dolled at the bottom. I would just love to know what he was thinking during that moment. This is just awesome haha.

It's not a world record. Well, not official. It's the longest ski jump recorded to date, that would be correct.

Ryoyu Kobayashi set the new record with 291m in Akureyri, Iceland. It's not verified by FIS, but still.
