    Hey Craig At Brew-Dudes we are both regular all grain brewers. My system is decidedly over complicated with three burners a pump and a plate chiller etc etc. Johns process is still a simple cooler mash tun and on pot and one burner outside. Despite the different level of complexity, we totally appreciate what your doing. Brewing is fun anyway you do it and there's no reason to rain on anyone parade. Beer is beer in the end if its the way you like it. Cheers! -Mike

  • @jp-hh9xq
    @jp-hh9xq5 жыл бұрын

    By the way, at 32:00 or so you talk about people wanting to see you do "kit videos" when it's been done a quite a bit before... I, for one, have watched most of those of those videos in the last few days (as I get ready to brew my first batch in my life... I'm an engineer so I tend to over-study simple things) and your video was by far the best presentation of the process in a way I enjoy watching it, and your commentary made good sense and was useful. I'm ampped up to brew! So I think the reason people requested you do a video like this is because you're more fun to watch doing it, while being informative with comments that are actually relevant, compared to many home brewer videos. Just my humble opinion.

    Hi Craig I first watched your videos back in 2010 when I was interested in making beer at home, and your video series on making up the coopers and other beer kits was invaluable. Have had so much enjoyment from the hobby and though the first batch I made prior to watching your videos was terrible after taking advice from them it was a vast improvement. I’ve since moved on through BIAB and now I’m about 25 brews on my Grainfather. And seeing you on my KZread feed I came back to see what you were doing. Anyway a lot of rambling just to say thank your Sir keep up your great work. P.s. I’m going to go to the store and see what the coopers kits are like now. All the best Matt

Now I've become more confident as a Homebrew and look for feed back from others about what the like and dislike about the beers I make. Lately I've made such a simple blonde ale that is awesome with key lime extract by amoretti. It may be 4.5 abv, buts it one that will have you come back for more.

    Cheers for another great vid Craig. I mostly brew from kits due to time constraints but I add slight embellishments just for my own personal taste. I have recently been adding a hop tea to the wort to enhance the hop aromas and flavours, along with dry hopping in the pin. I have been thinking about perhaps making a vid (or two) on how I brew my beverages but have never plucked up the courage to even do it for personal viewing yet. I have a gopro but most footage has been from first person perspective on the road bike as I am a little camera shy (and I am fairly clueless as to how to edit any footage taken LOL). Keep the vids coming, they are much appreciated. Cheers Schnuz.

    Hey Craig. Thanks for this video. Writing you from Winnipeg, Canada. Im just getting started in brewing. A couple questions though. All other things equal how will the beer be different if you brew with 19 or 20 litres as opposed to 23 litres? Secondly, why did you use three boxes of the coopers dried malt extract? My way of thinking is that one box would be for one tim of the liquid wart from the kit. Am I wrong? What does adding three opposed to just one do? Appreciate any help!

    Sulphur dioxide can be released by certain yeasts when there's certain mineral and nutrient deficiencies...or so I'm told! My brother made a cider once that reeked of rotten eggs - tasted fine if you're a hardened cider drinker but the smell was a tad off-putting. Sometimes it'll go away with time - chilling helps.

    Hi Craig, I know this is a link from last year, and someone may have made a comment pertaining to the yeasts Coopers uses, so, I just want to mention my correspondence with the people at Coopers. I asked about whether I could buy specific yeasts for their specific brew cans and I was told all brew cans are supplied with the same yeast...except wheat beers, which have wheat beer yeast. Pretty clear to me. But, what happens if I use a specific type yeast, say an ale yeast of one variety or another with one of their ales? That change HAS to make a difference, right? Also, my series of mistakes over this last year since starting to use Coopers has almost made me quit brewing. But I found out I have misread their instructions and have allowed the beer to ferment way too long. ALL my brews have been dumped because they taste horrible, will not carbonate or just plain fail. Please let your watchers know brew cans using Coopers ingredients do not need the long fermentation times like a full grain batch or partial grain batch require. Most of the boiling and settling out of the trub has been done for you. Follow the instructions and the beer will survive. Let it sit too long in the fermenter will not help, but can for sure hurt your finished product. I have a Lager and a Mexican Cerveza to do next. I will let you know how they do. I just found this on Coopers site. It seems to answer the question about their yeast but it is different from what they told me. "The following explains the ink-jetted code on the yeast sachets, supplied with each beer kit: Sachets carry a Julian date code and may also carry letters to denote the type of yeast. For example, if they were packaged on the 25th of September 2007 = 268th day of 2007: Original Series:- Ac (26807) International Series:- Australian Pale Ale - Ac+L (26807 Int) Mexican Cerveza - Ac+L (26807 Int) European Lager - L (26807 P) Canadian Blonde - Ac (26807) English Bitter - Ac (26807) Thomas Coopers Selection:- Wheat - A (26807 W) IPA - Ac (26807 IPA) Irish Stout - A (26807 IS) Pilsener - L (26807 P) Australian Bitter - Ac+L (26807 PS) Heritage Lager - Ac+L (26807 PS) Sparkling Ale - Ac+L (26807 PS) Traditional Draught - Ac+L (26807 PS) Note: Ac = Coopers ale yeast (our own strain, not the same as the yeast in our commercial ales, developed in-house and propagated under contract). A = ale yeast and L = lager yeast (these strains are commercially available dry yeast and their details are held in confidence)." Thanks for the great videos. rb

    Craig how are yah? I have some questions for you and your fans. 1.how many cans of extract can I add together..ie can I put 3 cans of extract and say 3kgs of sugar? 2. I made a coopers lager 2 weeks in buckets 3-4 weeks in bottles.. I used 2 even teaspoons of white sugar... every one of em was either a geyser of head or flat Azzzz. After the head settles.. not a bad beer.. Any advice much appreciated.. Cheers
