Thank you so much for putting this video up. A great learning experience. That's what the internet is for! Bringing the gift of knowledge to someone sitting in the other end of the world.
La Notte is just perfect.
Always a pleasure to listen to Mr. Payne.
I love how he talks about falling asleep during certain films
Its great to see how much he loves movies and has so much knowledge about movies, like Martin Scorsese.
Thank you for this :D
It's interesting. I have people in my screenwriting class who are just not interested in 90% of great cinema. How can you study film without having a solid interest in exploring the whole wealth of cinema. It's amazing how many people discriminate against certain films, just because of when they were made.
There are few directors as great as Alexander Payne and I have to say it's extremely sad how overlooked the man is.

What do you mean by overlooked? Almost all of his movies have done well financially, audiences and critics love his work and he's won two Oscars!

exactly!
@jazz4 It probably has to do with the fact that most old movies aren't good and it's hard for us to distinguish which ones are good before we watch them. For example, nowadays, I can tell if I'll like a film just by watching its trailer. Directors, writers and even actors play a part on that conclusion. Old films are black and white and most of us don't know anything about the creators. Every time I want to get people interested in old movies I show them the greatest ones first.
