To me it didn't seem like he was scared of dying or being beat. A serial killer like him would probably get a thrill from escaping death like that. He's an Overlord, a Sinner, and a serial killer, he's always been doing things for his own benefit. It seems like to me that he is just trying to make sense of why he willingly got in harms way for others. Like in his part of final song he says "Great alastor altruist died for his friends. sorry to disappoint but thats not where this ends" and he seems distressed at the very thought of doing something like that.

I know that Roo hasn’t been introduced yet into the show but what are the chances that Alaster has made a deal with her and not Lilith like we were made to believe? I was only questioning because Alaster has made overlords go missing or maybe killed them. If there is another Hell or world like it that has existed before the Hell that we see here then I wonder if it’s possible he trapped them there. Evil has already existed before this Hell and in the intro scenes from episode 1 We see evil corrupting the Earth after Lucifer gave humans free will. Stoles has mentioned some details about it but I can’t remember which episodes those were. Still there was a dimension and if Roo came from there then it makes since for Alaster to be given the power to take souls there.

17:42 - To answer your question, Nic, if you die in Hell, your body regenerates or, if your body is destroyed beyond repair, you remanifest, which is said to be an extremely painful process. If you die with an angelic weapon, you get erased and cease to exist completely.

More specifically, it's mainly sinners who can come back from death that isn't angelic weapons. Lower Hellborn can be killed without them. I'm not sure about Sins, Lilith, Charlie, and the Ars Goetia.

I love how both Emily and Sera have the exact same thought, but with completely different emotions. Emily: OMG Charlie was right! Sera: OMG... Charlie was right...

It’s also been confirmed that in season 2 we’ll get some more information on Sir Pentious and how he got into hell and maybe even the other cast. Also being confirmed Vox will be the main villain.

2 things I love about this episode and finale: Nifty getting the kill on Adam. Sir Pentious getting sent to heaven.

Nifty getting the killing blow is something I didnt know I wanted, until I got it. So good.

I love that one of the last things Adam did was prove Charlie right by sending a snake to heaven. The first ever redeemed soul is a snake. I also love the little detail of Lucifer's halo being the snake and apple from his hat.

It was shocking to see Alastor that vulnerable for once, but at the same time, it was satisfying to see Adam get his. Niffty is best girl. I cannot wait for the next season.

For sure, Alastor is just a mortal going up against a very much empowered and significantly older being than him (Adam), but it is quite impressive that Adam was *required* to stop him. Pretty sure without Adam present, Alastor would have solo'd the entire extermination.

​​@@eddmario really? Damn.. like sure he IS powerful. Noone can take the fact he eliminated numbers of OVERLORDS by himself. It's... interesting to have confirmed his power gets to THIS level. I see him as the stronger sinner demon there. I didn't think he would be able to touch someone above that..

One of my favorite details is when they're all hugging during the final song, Husk wraps his wings around everybody. Just a nice little thing I noticed. Edit: Something else I also noticed is on the night before the battle when Husk and Angel are talking, you can hear an instrumental of Loser, Baby playing in the background.

"More than anything" This Song by Lucifer and his daughter Charlie brought me and my sister to tears from first time until now. And lover duet is breaking my heart. It's possible that Eve is character named Roo = Root of Evil in hell. Vivziepop has mention that she will in story.

So in the background of one of the episodes, (I believe Episode 6, in the nightclub) you can see a character that's highly believed to be the exorcist Camilla killed at the very start. So that opens up a lot of questions about dying a 2nd time.

Sir Pent didn't die from an angelic weapon though. He just got shot by a laser of some sort. Adam is prooooobably erased from existence.

@@GraywyckYeah but everyone thinks Sir Pentious is dead which implies (especially given the Eggs are not in Heaven after getting fryed) that Adam’s angellic laser is equivalent to Angelic Steel in its properties. So for Adam to come back as a Sinner after suffering the second death and being rejudged is not a stretch to say the least.

I'm so glad to hear your opinion on this show. There are a lot of contradictory criticism of this show, and hearing people that appreciate it for what it is, instead of lamenting that it isn't something they want instead. And while I feel there are some scenes that are hard to watch, I could not imagine it being any other way for it to be better.

I've taken to ignoring the naysayers. Most don't have a valid argument in them. I have surprisingly found it fun to be on the subreddit and twitter, all for the fanart. I found friendly people thru it.

Angelic Weapons kill permanently. Adam's laser is not Angelic steel. But the hotel had never seen his laser really before today most likely so they assumed it killed permanently too.

@@jmossfire4209 because pentious had a death ray that was a threat to adam. His angelic weapon is his guitar but it's far slower than just using his angelic laser to destroy the ship. Even if pentious respawned. If his holy light permakilled sinners, why did he even bother using his angelic weapon at the start instead of blasting like he did later?

​@fullmetalpotato1258 I would assume the reason angelic steel permanently kills sinners/harms angels os because they are imbued with angelic power, something Adam's layers are definitely made of. Angels can hurt angels, so I'm pretty sure they can permanently kill sinners as well. Narratively, it doesn't make sense that everyone would be sad and traumatized over his death if he was just gonna respawn later.

I actually have a theory on Sir Pentious' uniform. If he died in the victoriam era or in 1880s and had an affinity in weaponry and engineering, it might be likely he wad part of Britians Board of Ordnance, which is was once a branch of the military. They were in charge of engineering, maintaining, and the utilization of weapons and other armorments. High ranking officials like generals had a blue uniform like Sir Pentious.

poor Al had whole existencial crisis over possibility of being remembered as someone who died for THEM. And he was really close to dying there. Funny to see how he did the exact thing Carmila warned Vaggie about. He fought for himself, to continue his D measuring contest, didn't use angelic weapon and didn't take the fight seriously.. it's good that he got humbled there. As much as I love him... realistically.. he was no match for Adam. He may dominate demons but angels are whole nother level. Can't wait to see what he's cooking for next season. It seems like we will also get more to the Vees lore and their past with Alastor maybe..? It's gonna be fun to see it.

As soon as Adam said he was going to kill Charlie, it broke the pact between heaven and Lucifer. Extermination is fine as long as it doesn't target Charlie or seemly any Hell-born Demon, just Sinner Demons.

Yessss I am so happy you guys dropped this today! This is my favorite episode, its so awesome! From Alastor's shield, his fight and injury, to Sir Pentious getting his kiss and sacrificing himself, to Lucifer showing up and going demonic. So freaking awesome! The ending song was so fun, Alastor's lament and showing his real fear and insanity over it, Sir Pentious being redeemed and proving Charlie was right it is possible, and Lilith's mystery reveal. Glorious episode! The series has everything I ever wanted since the Pilot, worth the 4 years wait I did. I hate to say I love Hazbin Hotel more then Helluva Boss, I want to treat them separately and equally cause both shows are awesome. The only thing me and most of the fandom wish for is we wish it had more episodes in season 1. But for 8 episodes it was glorious. Since the finale the fandom has exploded with art and interactions with the VA's. Alastor's VA Amir Talai is particularly fun cause he is sarcastic and loves to interact with fans. He often enbodies Alastor too lol. Now for the 1 to 2 year wait for season 2. They are hard at work and trying to get out as fast as possible. Vivienne in all her wonderful and evilness has already said all the music for next season fucks just as hard as season 1 so we are all freaking excited!

Also I had the same reaction, this show had no right to be this fucking good. Cannot wait for season 2

A nice end to season one, can't wait for the next season.

Even if you don't like the show, you can't deny respect the perfect character that is Nifty 😂

Loved everything about this finale. The final song, Lucifer's little verbal slip-up, Pentious' redemption, Lucifer reinvigorated after thousands of years of depression. And it really says a lot the gaps in power between some of these characters. Adam vs Alastor: Alastor has technique, but can't compete with Adam's raw power. Adam vs Lucifer: Lucifer kicks his butt without even trying. Like seriously, he's playing with Adam the whole time. The man is a goofball, but now that he's probably going to be more active he's more than got the power to back up anything he does.

Not sure if it’s still canon, but I’m pretty sure Vivzie said at one point that the remaining life force of sinners killed by angels inhabits the nearest thing, which is why so many inanimate objects in Hell have random expressive eyes.

Technically when you die in hell as long as it's not an Angelic weapon destroys the soul you just come back the next day

I realize that despite taking most of her looks from her dad, Charlie also bears some resemblance to her mom. She has Lilith’s tall height and nose.

I was in the same boat. I enjoy Helluva Boss and was sure this would be good. But after watching it, I said this had the IT factor. It makes sense and I agree.

I think Adam will be reborn in Hell just like Sir Pentious was reborn in Heaven.

I personally have to say: I think S1 of HH was a solid OK with moments of good and very good. For me personally, and I know this is something outside the control of the studio, having only 8 25 minute episodes just wasn't enough time to allow the show to have a good pace. WIth what the pilot set up, it just feels to me like the show should have had a more episodic nature with one or two "Major" episodes in a row being followed by some "breather" episodes. Let me use an example: After Sir Pentious joins the hotel, I feel like we should've had an episode in whcih Charlie drums up everyone and has them sit down, evne Alastor, to introduce themselves to Sir Pentious properly, and she uses that to ahve them all tell their stories. Not everything, but giving us a short rundown on who they were in life, how they died and why they (think they) went to hell. Maybe also some stuff after that. This would give us some nice background knowledge for the cahracters and it wouldn't feel shoe horned in. Now, some might say: "But we know the backgorund of some characters already! They said that in the material they put out before hte pilot!!! Alastor was a 20s/30s Radio Talk Show host and a serial killing cannibal!"... Issue is: 1) it's in spread out material that people might not even know exists (and some of that stuff evne got deleted, like the comics, one showing a day in Alastor's life in hell, the other showing how Angel was recruited by Charlie and Vaggie) 2) It should be in the show and 3) They said that Vaggie used to be a salvadoran woman of negotiable affection, which we now know for sure is probably not true anymore. We hav eno idea what is and what is no longer canon. Same with Alastor singing about making Charlie chuckle with an old timey pun... he makes a few puns in thr pilot, iirc none in the show and nothinh that really was "old timey"... Honestly, I think the whole extermination time cut short was there to have the rushed nature of hte story feel more appropriate. ANother minor example is Alastor's and Lucifer's song in EP 5. Alastor: "Makes you chuckle with an old timey pun"? When did Alastor have many old timey pun moments with Charlie? it feels more like something that had to be mentioned to remind folks: "ALastor is odl timey!" or maybe a wink at "Dad jokes with Alastor" (during some of the streams, the old VAs goofed around, and Alastor's old VA told Dad jokes) though that stuff isn't really old timey as such. The Pilot for me felt more like it was setting up something where we follow the characters at a slower pace, really see them interact and grow, rather than how speedy the plot of S1 had to be pushed due to constraints. ALso, i think the Angel threat should'Ve been something for a S2, while the overlords feel more like tehy should'Ve been S1 antagonists, who continue an important but somewhat diminished role as the extermination comes closer. And Charlie venting to Al about Vaggie... again, it feels like "We couldn't show their relation on screen, so here we have her recount stuff we didn't show!" It really feels like the story is, at best, unfolding over a month or thereabout. the whole "Starting to question charlie" and such stuff at the start of Ep 7 might have more impact if we had actually seen them bond properly, and Camilla telling Vaggie "to fight for love" is a bit stupid because she was fighting for and out of love for Charlie... It probably made for a nicer song, but it feels like the message of everything there should'Ve been that Vaggie fights with reckless abandon because she's used to being invincible, but should fight to protect herself, and Charlie propery. Sir Pentious demise might have had more feeling if we had actually known something about him except: Laughably evil + has the hots for Cherri... ALso, considering he wasn't originally meant to be a recurring character but got added because he was so well received in the Pilot, him being fridged is not a t all surpirsing, though neat that he was used for the proof of redemption. Also, nobody cares, apparently, that either Dazzle is dead in that scene... Which again is something that would'Ve felt more impactful if we'd known Razzle and Dazzle as more htan "those cute things flyign around". The statue afterwards is nice, but it just lacks the immediate impact. It was nice to see Lucifer and Charlie show some measure of power, though i also kinda wish we had had some more glimpses before hand. Nice cliffhanger and appreciated that they seem to really have great plans for Alastor as greater scope villain. ALso was nice to see him vulnerable for once. In a short version: If you have prime, it's a decent watch, but i'd not say "you need to get prime to watch HH!!!" It's fine, but for me it jsut feels like it could've been so much more.

side note: Helluva Boss Season 2 is only half done

I’m wondering if sir pentious ended up in heaven because he got killed and did it for a good reason and redeemed himself in his soul. But then again another theory could be that it’s because an angel killed him. Maybe it has to be an angel that kills you and you have to be a good person as well on the inside. Maybe no one has even actually gotten better and that’s why none of those that have been killed in the exterminations have gone to heaven they’re just gone. A good way to check is have Charlie be killed (since she’s a literal sweetheart) and see if she goes to heaven or if she’s just gone but obviously we don’t want her to be gone so that’s not an option. Also I just realised that I’m assuming Charlie can’t go to heaven because she is lucifers child but also even if she was allowed I wouldn’t want her to be separated from lucifer again. I think lucifer should move into the hotel so they can catch up. I hope we find out also next season why Lilith is up in heaven. I’m wondering if what sera said was true and it was Lilith starting an uprising and the deal with Adam was done to stop the uprising. I’m thinking in this scenario that they probably kept it a secret from sera that hell was not a danger to heaven and they just kept killing. Maybe sera doesn’t even know that Lilith is in heaven. It’ll be interesting to see in next season because I know people don’t like sera but I feel like she’s either going to be fully evil and they’ll have to overthrow her somehow and get Emily up there or she’s going to be being lied to and she’ll realise they lied to her and she’ll stop the exterminations. I kinda want her to be good but I would be alright with her being evil too I like either ideas.

If sinners die I. Hell they simply regenerate. But if a sinner is killed with angelic weapon, your wiped form existence.

Mortal combat finish him!. Nifty wins!. You can also tell elder seraphim was not happy to see him.. and also love this!.

We don't really know how exactly it works in this show, but people thorie that after soul dies (would that be Sinner or Winner (aka those in Heaven)), they are being judged again and sending them to the place where they belong. But of cource nobody knew that, since nobody killed Heaven people and those in Hell dont want to change and after they die (not through Angelic weapon), their soul is still worthy of Hell and after certain amount of time, they get sent back to Hell.

So in the show how it works is. Earth born sinners are immortal since they are just souls, so when you see sinner's killing each other with non angelic weapons they will eventually respawn in hell. Only beings capable of permanently killing a sinner are angels (possibly the sins also since it's implied they are all fallen angels like lucifer since they like lucifer don't age and are older than hell itself) either with angelic weapons or their holy smite. That's why Alastor beating all those overlords was such a big deal because they never re-manifested. Hell born are essentially mortal as they don't have a soul so death is permanent to them and they can reproduce (besides Lucifer and Lilith we don't have any other confirmations of sinners being able to have kids in hell, Carmila it's unconfirmed if her daughters are her biological daughters and even if they are if they are from her time on earth.)

And now she hears something from her daughter thinking she's doing something wrong... But she's following the dreams that her mother gave her So... The family reunion is going to be VERY unpleasant to witness.

Oh it is definitely Alastor. Super interesting character and it's the first time in any media an evil character is my favorite. Alastor is undoubtedly evil. But there is a lot going on with him and a lot of conflicts. I think the hotel gang is genuinely starting to grow on him and he's trying really hard to suppress that (as he basically confirms in his breakdown piece)

5:25 Charlie ships it. So, let's talk about Lilith, Lute, Adam, and Sera. They were all adamant about sinners not being redeemable and unworthy of Heaven, yet Lilith, arguably the original sinner, was allowed to stay in Heaven (if that is where she is) and abandon her family seemingly without redemption. I imagine that's what her deal with Adam was. Now, we don't know if Sera knew about this deal, but if she did, she's an even bigger hypocrite than we've already seen. She was definitely flabbergasted by Sir Pentious ascending to Heaven and proving her wrong, so I'm wondering if she's going to change her views or fight against his stay and solidify her hypocrisy. Also, note that when Adam made his intention to kill Charlie clear, Lucifer appeared. He violated his agreement with Lucifer to spare Charlie which allowed him to interfere with the extermination. I imagine his mask glitching was a sign. Kind of wish I.M.P. made a cameo to assist in the resistance, maybe to advertise their business by killing angels. It'd make sense since I think Moxxie still has Stryker's blessed rifle which I believe was made from salvaged angelic weapons.

I have a theory that is probably very wrong that nifty is Eve. So my theory is after eating the apple and supposedly sleeping with Lucifer see got sent to hell. The reason she is how she is is because living with Adam drove her insane and the death of Abel didn't help. The reason she's so cleaning focused is that's all she did in life because you think Adam helps with house work. It also makes what happens to Adam more twisted and slightly funnier.
