She said it so well..."People thought it was my choice to be depressed." This is real. People think it's a mind over matter situation and don't realize it is something that literally takes hold of you and needs attention and treatment. Thanks, Hayden. @@jonathanmayberrydesigns definitely but my point is depression can take a hold of you to the point of making you believe that alcohol is the only way to cope. it’s a vicious cycle that can make you do things you typically would not. it is ultimately her responsibility to take help and dig herself out of the dark hole.

Congratulations. Ive been working on cutting back, I'm 31 now, been drinking daily since freshman year in high school, I only drink beer 95% of the time, but pretty much its getting to the point I can't even hold it down sometimes, like my brain says yes, but my body and stomach say NO... I'm also I'm dependant on opiates ever since a botched surgery I had and had to have another one to fix it, I had a torqued appendage. Back then I didn't know how crazy additive an physically dependant people got on these opiates, I didn't think it was a problem because the doctor was giving them to me. Well when they took them away like my last script, I was left so sick and wrestles and uncomfortable, my mind felt frantic and my anxiety was through the roof, I talked to people about how ive never felt so bad in my life, and they advised me it was in fact the drugs that I stopped taking. I immediately called up this girl I knew who was always trying to trade me other drugs for weed (because back then I did sell pot but thats it and before this I had never been a drug addict, just occasional pot head, and dull time alcoholic) anyway... I went straight to her and traded for a bottle of liquid hydrocodone, and a bunch of vicodin pills. Now, 11 years later I'm still on opiates, only now its fentanyl because pills are 5 times the price they use to be, since the government took everyone's pain killers and flooded the streets with heroin, then they took away the heroin and its all Fentanyl... The government did this, no one can tell me otherwise. Ive seen friends grandmas and parents go from being sober gofers, and going to Alonon meetings and stuff to snorting heroin with their adult children... This guy down the street from me got in a motorcycle wreck, he was a dedicated Norman and family man, taekwado instructor and owned his own barber shop. Now he lays around doing pills all day and snorting fentanyl when he's out of pills. I knew him since I was a child and I know all 6 of their kids,, non of us can believe what he became. Its sad.

Especially young adults, I’m considered weird because I refuse to spend my weekends partying and getting drunk. I’ve lost important family members before I was even born due to alcohol. Didn’t even get a chance to meet or love them. Not cool. I hope anyone who feels like they need to have a drink to feel okay, realizes that you weren’t born with a bottle of alcohol to live. Hey! I hope that you are doing better today. In addition to putting down the bottle, please make sure you work on getting rid of processed foods out of your diet (sugar, flour, vegetable oils, additives, preservatives, artificial flavors, colors and ingredients). If God did not make it, then it was not intended for your body to thrive and is causing your body and brain to be out of balance. Focus on getting your omega 3s, fresh and organic fruits and vegetables, berries, avocados, walnuts, salmon, sardines and almonds are your friends. I struggled with depression for many years but it was not until I removed the processed foods out of my diet and added in real foods that I finally got my mental health under control. It's outrageous to me that we live in the 21st century and there is still this huge stigma associated with depression and mental health in general. It's not your fault, you are not in control, it is not a choice!

It is a choice, a lot of people go through this but they get passed it and do something about it besides crying about it. This society is doomed with this weak mentality

@@dariusslay279 it isn't a choice. Depression can be genetic based and trauma doesn't fully go away. I am currently going to therapy for ongoing panic attacks due to c-ptsd and the trauma is still there, we just learn to manage it better. You are just ignorant.

I loved this woman as an actress and a person growing up. Remember the Titans was my favorite movie ❤️ So glad she’s helping the world in any way that she can and for being strong for her child. I’m just glad she’s getting better and able to move on one step at a time with her life. Battling your inner demons is honestly the toughest thing in the world. 😭

It's a really hard thing to admit and open up to, especially as a mother there is shame involved. I went through post partum and alcohol/drug dependency as well. Good for her for being strong and taking the time she needed to invest in herself and heal 💝💝

I did also after loosing my Grandma to cancer and Son to a heart defect then my father to cancer all in a 3 year span. I just couldn’t take it anymore. It felt like wave after wave hitting me. Eventually after 2yrs of heavy daily drinking i noticed i was getting really bad stomach pains and prayed to GOD who helped me stop cold turkey. I had insomnia, nausea 24/7 and no appetite for about a year after going sober I even lost 70 lbs. I was a depressed mess😓

When I was first pregnant with my first daughter. After I had an emergency C-section. It was totally a very hard recovery period. It took me almost 3 months to recover. Physically and mentally. At the time we were staying at my parents for week. Because the doctor didn't want me to go up and down stairs for at least another week. After I got home and was by myself that's when I noticed that I would take care of my infant daughter and would be starting housework, realizing, I should be resting instead and taking care of myself. Instead. The minute I would get into the shower that's when the phone would ring. But after that I would get back into bed and cry and cry Back then I didn't know that I had ppd. Because it was 42 years ago. I wished I had known about ppd. Thank you Hayden. Your a strong women and you turned your life around for the better. Congratulations!

I grew up with watching her and fell in love with her acting both as Juliette in Nashville and Kirby in Scream. I am so proud of how far she's come and how she continues to be brave enough to speak about issues that many people also have a hard time asking for help in. I remember how the cast of Nashville said she was the main person to always host and invite everyone together...I think the happiest people need to be checked on more often than not, because I've noticed how well they can hide it, especially if they're extroverts and friendly by nature. I'll be watching the new scream movie and happy to see her face back in the series since she's one of my favorite characters. 😊
