I remember buying a cartoon classics dvd at a cracker barrell years and years ago…lots of fleischer cartoons and other shorts on it. This short was on it and I watched it so much that I would get the hawaiian music theme stuck in my head and hum it all the time ❤ one of my favorites!

Very interesting use of parallax. According to to Wikipedia: The technicians at Fleischer Studios created a distantly related device, called the Stereoptical Camera or Setback, in 1934.[3] Their apparatus used three-dimensional miniature sets built to the scale of the animation artwork.[3] (…) various objects could pass in front of and behind them, and the entire scene was shot using a horizontal camera.

If the TV print is this good, the restoration should be dazzling.

This looks REALLY good for a TV print.

That's presumably been spliced onto the print by the TV distributor.

It's definitely 1936. Fleischer Studios was no more by 1946. Definitely a typo by NTA.
