That's why it's always a good idea to keep the seatbelts fastened while seated even when the seatbelt sign is off.

i belive some passengers said even with belts on people went flying this plane got lucky it it wasnt slammed down to the ground it flew right into a red cell
Koodos to Jon Snook and supporting officials for handling the questions so well. Turbulence can happen at any during flight - it's important to listen to all inflight announcements and keep those belts fastened low and tight. Stay Safe out there Everyone!
Prayers for all on the airline.

A lot of unstable air with two volcanos going off in the Islands recently, and the most Ever historicly in the Pacific ring. A lot of heat, ash, mixing with polar vortex air disturbance. Plus the Jet stream is at a historic (400 year) disturbance due to the Grand Solar Minimum. Basically, historic & unusual air abnormalities.

I highly doubt that the heat from the volcano had anything to the turbulence. As big as a volcano's energy is, it's nothing compared to a polar vortex and the jet stream.

@@dr.r.s.steinberg9347 agree,. What is your thoughts on the vapor eruption of the Tonga eruption & its influence on global temperatures? Not an expert just curious as to how all this is effecting the jet stream, weather in general. Thanks
This happened to me once in the eighties flying out of Georgia similar weather the plane dropped 10 feet rapidly. Beverage cart went everywhere. I had my seat belt on. I was nauseous for days after.
Does the recent volcano activity have anything to do with these unstable conditions?

First I’ve heard of it!
CEO and COO of Hawaiian need to go! This has been the worse for Hawaiian Airlines in the past years.
Remember when the top of Hawaiian airline plane ripped off and sucked out a flight attendant and they never found her and they landed in Maui

All those injured were probably not buckled up and/or looking for a lawsuit.
Gosh, he sounds like he’s mcing the academy awards. This should have been a solemn, informative statement, not an infomercial for helping crews.
