Honolulu has a very good rail system now, and the city bus is only $3.00. You can save a lot of money on transportation there, using the transit system. Even biking and roller skating is great, around the beaches.

$800 for a car note is insane. Would suggest any young person to avoid that at all cost. Doesn't matter if you can afford it.

Wait until you have kids or try and buy a home. Atlanta has many impatient drivers…especially near the hood…Luda, “move get out da way “ is real life. Hawaii is different blow your horn at the wrong person and you get troubles. More courteous drivers than Atlanta.

I live on Oahu. I'd say over 100k. That is about $5829 a month take home pay in HI after taxes. I keep my expenses low. I think that is key. I don't spend more than 4k a month on expenses. My needs are around $3500 but I give myself a little buffer. No car payment, I don't carry CC debt. Single, no kids. Most people work at least 2 jobs. I will for awhile just to boost savings.

Do you ever feel trapped there? I often think about what it would be like to live there, but then I also kick around the idea of full time RVing in a 5th wheel. I'm 56 going on 57 in May, have no wife or kids and nothing holding me back from doing whatever. I'm not close with my family at all other than talking on the phone to a few of my nephews maybe once every 3 months. I have no grandparents or parents and I'm not in touch with any aunts or uncles. I took care of my mom since I was 12, she died horribly from Cancer in 2017, after her death the family basically separated like flipping a switch, it was totally mind blowing, while at the same time very eye opening. I just don't know if I want to grow old alone here in Florida or if I should just move all the way to Hawaii and grow old in paradise. I just feel if I don't make the move I will regret it years from now.

If you haven’t started surfing yet I would say don’t pay for a class it’s lowkey a scam I learned from KZread and then people will give you tips along the way. It’s been about 3-4 years for me now. Let me know if you would like some good links to videos I watched when I first started out. I usually tell people to go to a class once they have the basics and looking for like a coach to help them get better to like intermediate or advanced

@@Jazznicole no problem!!! So the first things first the board you want to start out on is a long board because it has more buoyancy I would say start out with like a 9. The first step is learning to paddle. I linked a video below. You can practice this on the ground at home without a board. Also surf shops will rent you a board for cheap so you don’t have to buy one. Oh and longboarders are known for cross stepping short boarders usually do the air tricks and stuff kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJaHuKaNoKnZk7g.html 2nd step once you got the paddling down now comes the pop up process to practice on the floor. This is a beginner way to pop up. Until you can get use to popping up fast remember keep the knees bent! m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXeAudh6k7PJgM4.html

@@Jazznicole 3) now you’re ready to hit the water but you’re going to begin on the white water(broken wave) Basically since the water has crashed it’s basically giving you a push you need to go rather then having to build that momentum in a non broken wave m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/g32jo6ekXZqqqrQ.html Also bonus this will help with turning your board when you’re in the water in a quick movement I can’t find a long board video showing this but I would say ask someone in the water like it really takes 3 seconds to learn Now you’re turning in the water and catching white water now it’s time to learn how to catch unbroken waves and to do that you have to know How to detect them and how to position your board. This takes time! But again ask people on the water m.kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4GZr62yeqe9qKQ.html The way I describe knowing that you did this right is ok you see a wave coming you turn your nose and start paddling and the wave will rise up on your board during this moment don’t stop paddling (paddle fast honestly) that’s what I would suggest as a beginner as you’re doing that hard fast paddle you will feel your board gliding that’s when it’s time to pop up. That’s when you go straight . Later down the line you will learn to ride down the line which is against the wave or on the face of the wave but I would say get the basics first and then worry about that later :) I’m also free to give tips anytime you have questions ohhh and someone I follow and learned from by watching her videos is instagram.com/nique_miller?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Nique miller she lives out in hawaii and is also a black woman that surfs. And last thing when paddling this guy taught me and nique also does it kick your feet somewhat In the air it helps Gives momentum. Watch her page where she paddles it will give a good clue on what to do. And lastly sometimes you have to press your body forward as the wave comes in so your board will be in the right position. Andddddd learn where to be on your board like body to board positioning stokedrideshop.com/blogs/stoked-school/best-9ft-surfboards Hopefully this help but yes don’t buy a class they just push you on white water and teach you to pop up it’s not worth the money. You can really learn on your own just keep going to the beach and don’t give up. Lie to you not on my third try I caught my first wave and the people in the water willllll help you sooooo much for free! Gooood luckk
