Not exactly the same, but my cockatiel got used to my budgies by being in the same room, but she was out and the budgies were caged or vice versa. They could see and interact through the bars, but there would be a barrier. Then we moved onto everyone being out, but supervised. I don't know if I'd recommend unsupervised freedom for all parties with a size difference bigger than a tiel vs a budgie, but they're all best buddies now lol. It helps that they're all very respectful of each others' space and if someone's mad, the other two give them space. I had another budgie before that would constantly pick fights, and I didn't want him unsupervised with the tiel just because she's bigger and could've hurt him.

I was scared too! My husband was the one who would put the budgie inside the same cage with the parrot and would watch them. It took about one week for the parrot to stop trying to attack the budgie. @@yambri003while they have a cute relationship now, they should never be in the same cage. That Amazon is huge compared to the little budgerigar- she could really cause some damage, even if unintentionally. If they were first introduced in the amazon’s cage, it’s a miracle the budgie survived. Most parrots are very territorial over their cage. I would’ve assumed you’d have known that and immediately removed the budgie after the first attack (or just not put him in there at all obviously). The fact that he survived even one attack from an Amazon is incredible. I don’t think you understand how dangerous that is, one bite and he’s dead. I know if I were to put my conure anywhere near my eclectus’ cage, she’d rip him in half. Biggest problem is he’s not scared of her. Point is, even if they get along now, it really isn’t safe to house them together, and you need to make sure your husband knows he can’t just be putting two birds of such drastically different sizes together. One tiny disagreement is death for the budgie. Of course they can interact outside the cage with constant supervision given you can clearly see they get along, but no matter how well they get along, it’s just never safe to have birds of such different sizes in the same cage, especially when the bigger one already saw said cage as home.
@TheFluffyTheropod
27 күн бұрын
@Eyevoree it’s very difficult to introduce conures and budgies, and whether or not it’s even possible entirely depends on both of their personalities. Conures can be very territorial to other birds that aren’t of their own species, and that threaten the amount of attention they get from you. So you’d have to know for sure that you understand both of their personalities before trying anything. Most importantly, they absolutely under no circumstances can be put in the same cage, especially not right away. First meeting should be in a place neither see as their territory, and not too close to each other. If they’re comfortable with carriers, that can be a good way to see how they react to each other closer up with no risks. But if they aren’t fully comfortable with carriers, this could also cause them to act differently, so won’t help in all situations. It can also be good to bring them near each other’s cages to gauge whether the conure is territorial or jealous in any way. Only then, once you know the conure isn’t being aggressive in any way, you can try to introduce them close up with no bars between them. A good spot for this is a parrot stand or perch outside of the cage- preferably a new one that neither bird has been on before, but has been in the room long enough that they’re not scared of it. It can take a while to get to this point, a lot of patience is involved. Keep in mind you can’t do any of this immediately after getting a new bird- not only will they need a while to settle in, but since you already have another bird, you’d need to quarantine the budgie for a month or so.

Big baby and small baby
Disaster waiting to happen
😂😂😂😂
How about not putting your small parrot right next to a way bigger one which is extremely dangerous for the budgie?

🤣❤
That’s some crazy forced perspective.
Question: Why do you have an Amazon parrot with a parakeet? Amazons can kill parakeets. You shouldn't have different sized beaks together. It's abusive to the parakeet.

They have been friends for two years now and are inseparable. I guess it’s just luck that they get along. They each have their own cage, but the parakeet likes hanging out on Roger’s cage.

They have been friends for almost two years and are inseparable now. The parakeet is the one who always follows the parrot everywhere. They each have their own cage😊
