I’ve seen another channel use the plastic bag shake method. They cut a tiny hole in the corner and shock the seeds out that way and the larger debris stayed in the bag. Might be worth a try. I love all your videos but the garden maintenance and pruning are always my favorite.

Welcome home. Your Alaskan cruise looked fantastic. So happy to see your Golden Falls Weeping Redbud tree coming back!!! Yes, it's brutal what even a short time away from the gardens can do. However, you've lots of time to catch up. Maintenance is all I'm doing at this point, also. Hot, hot, hot in TX now.

Glad to see you back. Happy to hear you and your family loved Alaska. You guys look so happy 😊 in the pictures. My son's contractor friend from Anchorage just notified him to be ready for another trip to Alaska in October to finish up a home remodel. So I'll get to see more beautiful pics... Yeah. And yes it's just too hot to be outside. I've been getting up at 5am and waiting for enough daylight so I can water my garden and do my harvesting. My drip irrigation has quit on me so just trying to finish up the vegetables that are still making. Then I'll turn our ducks and geese into my garden patch.

Look at that weeping redbud coming back 😍! Welcome back! -great time to see where shade is needed.. a pergola, trees 🌳 or shade sails./fabric -fleece/burlap blankets to protect in winter ❄️ -Vinca, dianthus, gaillardia, celosia, are low water once established. -Branches are great as plant supports -some plants flop in rich soil; sedum, echinacea, lavender, yarrow, catmint, Russian sage are some examples -your back porch could be enclosed in winter (like pergola drapes or shades). Only with thick clear plastic. Attach curtain rods . Like a makeshift greenhouse for potted cold sensitive plants. I have a friend in Vegas who does this for potted hibiscus . On warm days he can open one side. Close it at night. Kind of like a shower curtain. Only with thicker plastic. . You can attach a dowel or rebar at the bottom for weight so it doesn’t flap around.

I would pick one stem of your redbud to be the new central leader, stake it well and remove any growth not on that leader. When you chose to do that is less clear to me. Perhaps given your heat you could do that in the fall.

I, too, am back from vacation and I have much "puttering" to do also. Crazy how the redbud is regrowing! I guess it's true, "plants just want to live!" I did the same thing to a spirea a couple of years ago and mine was brutal. I have a very old variety that gets powdery mildew, but I haven't pulled the plug on it yet. I also have something going on with a butterfly bush, and knowing you've cut yours back, I decided to give it a try. If it recovers great, if not an opportunity to find something else. Glad you had a wonderful vacation. I haven't heard anyone who has gone to Alaska that hasn't loved it!

Another informative video. 🤗 I also have noticed that the plants need extra water. My Zinnias that I direct sowed needed more water last night and the Pentas around them. The Zinnias are doing beautiful. Just starting to bloom. I am strategically trying to provide some Shade in this Blazing 🥵 Heat. I have a question. When the Coleus are cut what would be the best way to grow the cutting? If it wasn’t soooo hot I would of put in the ground. Which works well before our heat sets in.
