    I'd like to explain how the "am I infinite, am I not" thing works. Sundial only gives 2 energy per 3 shuffles, so if you spend 1 energy per shuffle, you are not infinite. Under typical conditions, a pommel strike only can shuffle the deck once, this would cause you to *not* go infinite. But, if your pommel strike is upgraded, your draw pile is empty, and your discard pile has one card in it, this series of events happens: 1) the pommel strike attempts to draw from the draw pile, but the draw pile is empty 2) the draw attempt shuffles the discard pile into the draw pile, and this succeeds, so the draw attempt continues 3) the pommel strike draws it's first card, emptying the draw pile 4) the pommel strike attempts to draw a second card from the draw pile, but the draw pile is empty 5) the draw attempt shuffles the discard pile into the draw pile, but this fails, so the draw attempt terminates. Notably, both sundial and abacus proc twice in this series of events. When the first shuffle succeeds, and when the second shuffle fails. It might be the case that the draw attempt doesn't terminate the card draw, and a card that draws 4 cards played with an empty draw and discard pile would proc these relics 4 times, but I doubt it works like that. I'd guess that once the draw pile sees the discard pile is empty, it moves on to the next thing the card should do.

  • @cz1822
    @cz1822 Жыл бұрын

    The abacus and sundial triggered twice each time you play pommel strike. Since the 2nd draw from pommel strike tries to pull from an empty deck, the relics get triggered again, despite not drawing anything. This doesn’t happen if your hand is full, since the 2nd draw is ignored. That’s why the infinite sometimes didn’t work: his hand was full.

    It also stops working if you include a second card in the draw, since now it only needs to shuffle them in once

    Ok, so from what I understand of the game mechanics, here's how this infinite works (Using 45:45 as the deck) When you use Pommel Strike, it draws twice. But, if you only have a card in the discard pile, then it has to draw said card twice. This then activates both Abacus and Sundial twice, which means it activates the draw on the discard pile twice. But, if the card was in the Draw pile when you used Pommel, it would only need to draw on the discard pile once, instead of twice, meaning you can't go infinite. Hope this is right.

    How does the relic that gives mana every 3 deck shuffles work? It sounds a little dumb when I put it that way but like sometimes he would shuffle and it would trigger twice and that’s how it would go infinite but sometimes it didn’t and he lost a mana every few card plays. Am I missing something obvious??

  • @bozman2007
    @bozman20072 жыл бұрын

    I know this is from a while ago, but if you kept using the Skill Rage that gives 5 defense when you use an attack, you would keep stacking it while keeping the infinite going, and thus get you to 999 defense significantly faster than just ornamental fan and abacus. Like just using it like 5 times alone would net you 25 defense with every attack in your infinite.

    Awesome content. Still unsure about the mechanics of these combos. Does the 2nd card draw of the pommel strike count towards and additional shuffle if you only have the 1 card left in the deck? Essentially I'm asking. Does the Sundial read count a "shuffle" if you attempt to draw a card with no more cards in the deck?

  • @willfoltz

    @willfoltz

    You can see when he has nothing but the Pommel Strikes left in his discard pile that he plays one, draws the other Pommel, and the sundial ticks twice; once to reshuffle the played Pommel back into his draw pile so he can draw it, and then again to try and draw a card that doesn't exist (since none are left). Thus he can keep playing the Pommels infinitely since he plays both for 2 energy and then gets 2 energy back. TLDR: Yes if you only have one Pommel in your draw pile and one in hand and at least 2 energy you can go infinite.

  • @brentje9759

    @@willfoltz I'm late but to add to this, the one time his combo broke it was because his hand was too full to 'draw from the empty deck'. 23:23. The game doesn't even to attempt to draw the 'empty deck' when his hand is full. Therefore it broke that one time. But yeah absolutely true.

    It's a weird quirk of how the game handles drawing more cards from an empty draw pile.than there are cards in the discard pile. Pommel Strike tries to draw two cards from the deck... So it will start attempting to draw the first card. Since there are no cards, the game shuffles the discard pile into the draw pile, triggering the sundial a first time. Then the game tries to draw a second card. Again, there is no cards in the draw pile so the game shuffles the (empty) discard pile into the draw pile, triggering the Sundial again, setting the counter to two. Since the draw pile is still empty, the game now aborts the draw action and only winds up drawing the one card. The next pommel strike will again try to draw two cards from the draw pile but only wind up drawing one, shuffling the draw pile twice in the process. So we spent two mana to shuffle the deck four times, with every three shuffles netting two mana back... So every cycle winds up generating half a mana.
