Interesting fact. The clock in the bell tower that houses Big Ben (Elizabeth Tower) of the Houses of Parliament uses old, pre-decimal pennies to keep time. Pennies are added or removed to a balance speed up or slow down the mechanism to ensure it keeps good time.

There are many forgeries around. Usually genuine 1938 coins with the date tampered with. Some are very convincing. The whereabouts of the genuine ones are well known.

Great info thanks. I have gone through over 200 boxes of halves so far and have only found 16. The only problem is that they are only half of the coin. The other half is Kennedy. Because the are magic coins. Now I have to go see if any are 1933. Maybe I will get half price...Lol

We just found 2 that are 1730 and 1738… not sure if they are rare or not

I always thought something rare was that many people around the world that they haven't seen for a long time since the day they was made for example 7 ceremonial 1933 British Empire pennies shining like sunshine both sides then there is 6 copper pennies of 1933 British Empire pennies demonstration samples for the Irish and further 6 copper pennies of 1933 British empire pennies demonstration samples for the Scottish and further 4 for permanent members of Parliament peers coins was made for Chancellors lordship of period 1933 demonstration samples. That amount comes up as 16 copper shining like orange 🍊 and 7 heavenly 1933 ceremonial shining like yellowish goldish on both sides that's totalled account of the Great Depression Great Empire British pennies made comes to 23 spell Twenty Three coins all together ❤👍

If you are on the look out for a valuable coin there may still be some 1937 Edward Vlll brass threepenny pieces which are still unaccounted for. They are no longer in circulation but could possibly turn up anywhere.

You got the amount totally correct £140000 1933 copper penny pattern actually I have the 7 ceremonial 1933 British penny's. Plus I have 8 copper brass British 1933 penny's which leaves that the Royal Mint has one made from copper and one sold at Heritage Auction to a private organisation and that comes to 4 & 6 & 7 brings total coins made 17

You must be getting mixed up with the Halfpennies, there are only 7 or 8 of the 1933 Penny known. Either that, you have forgeries! Even RARER Pennies are the 1952 and 1954.

you won't find anymore of these. One was put under the foundation of St Mary's Church on the Hawksworth Estate in Kirkstall Leeds. My Parents were married there in 1949. As you said ,sold in 1972 to help renovations to the church.

I have 5 bags of penny's from 1880 to 1970 I would say there's around 1200 in each bag there heavy at least 2 kilos a bag I have to spend some time going through them as there must be 6000 at least . This is no joke. mum and dad collected them in the 70,s.

No. I have one from another collection. It's identical although dated 1928. I also have a Queen Victoria penny dated 1897. I also have an Edward VII half penny dated 1909. PCGS doesn't quote any prices on British coins so I have no idea what they are worth except that they are no better than AU58 condition.

i have alot of half penny's from 1904 to 1971 and i want to sold them can u help me in it.

It is believed that there were six pennies struck that year, but the obverse (head) of the 1933 pennies were prepared by a different engraver who's name was Lavriller. The engraver who designed the main portrait which was used for the King during the years between 1911 to 1936 was Bertram Mackennal. If you look at the two images you can see subtle differences. The most valuable British pennies is the 1954 Queen Elizabeth ll version, it is believed that there was only one struck and is therefor unique and priceless. The other most valuable penny is the one dated 1937 struck during the short reign of Edward Vlll. There are only four in existence and when they rarely come up for sale they can command astronomical prices.
