In chinese dessert they used dry peach gum soak in a water until become soft like jelly ..cook and add ripe papaya, lotus seeds ,lily bulb and fresh milk and sugar..or you can cook with sweet potatoe and ,sago ,coconut milk and sugar..peach gum is very rich in collagen...you can buy dried peach gum in supermarket .

Yeah.. Most people that DO live like this have hard lives, and the outside world tends to make it harder.. Philipines has textile factories all over the place just poisoning the ground water in the poorest areas.. cancer rates are like 50%, and birth defects are so common, people ust stop having kids.. Resulting in the village just dying off.. Textile factories dont care, they just pick up and move to the next place...

Actually, these are kapok trees, another name is called Java cotton tree, because these tree pods are densely packed with silky cotton, great for bedding pillow stuffing. Theses tree pods do look very much like the ears of corn, from the shape, size, color, and weight. The gel gum from these Java cotton trees are known to be edible.

🌸 I know this beautiful tree very well, in Trinidad it’s known as Ceiba Trees and also commonly known as Silk Cotton tree, however the locals are very superstitious about the older trees due to ceremonies done on certain ones. I wish they were not afraid of it and saw beautiful splendour of the tree, it can grow to enormous width & height. My mom was born there but later left as child to have further education in UK. I had pleasure of growing up on this island as a girl to teen and saw a wide range of beautiful trees and plants normally associated with South America. It’s because Trinidad eons ago was part of South American but broke off. It’s only island that has a tropical rainforest and rich soil for numerous vegetation. Plus they had another benefit, just after slavery the British sought indentured labourers from Indian & a wide range of Indians from all over Indian went there for new life. They were given an option at end of contract to either take money or land and stay. It’s unique because they were allowed to bring vegetation from East and they planted trees, shrubs, herbs etc of all description. We had fruits you normally found in eastern tropical places. It is paradise in more ways than one because of the people that live there are from all over the world so they call it the rainbow island in old days. They are the sweetest temperament & it’s only place you will find Hinduism, Muslims & Christianity getting along together in harmony. My aunt is Hindu & she married a Muslim chap. I’ve never seen peace like this within such different religions groups. Must be the Caribbean life ☺️

What is it? Is it sap or resin? From what tree? It looks gelatinous. And what does it taste like? EDIT: I did some research and it's the resin from the peach tree which can form when a pest is attacking the tree not allowing the nutrients to get to where they need to, to form the fruit. And apparently it tastes mildy like peach.

🤔Reminds me of a time when my friend & I, as kids, would break off sap from Mesquite trees and chew on it. Sometimes the smaller crystallized, harden sap would taste like honey. The larger sap was softer & gooey - tasted similar.😬

Beautiful video to watch and learned something new. I'll have to look for this peach gum next time I'm going in an Asian grocery store. I did think about that pond/lake behind her. I have one behind my house and some alligators snuck in after a hurricane last year. Scared the living daylights out of me when I saw a 6ft and 5footer swim by when the pond grew into a lake. I kept looking for a crocodile or something coming up behind her.

But you made your point in getting uchina recognized...lol ppl can't just enjoy what someone puts out for entertainment 8r education... they always want to compare and be part of something or assume a similarity...hey I know its 2022 but guess what its ok for everything not to be exactly the same.

@@DameonKane-Songwriter what is wrong with you?? You literally are the only person offended here. There's nothing wrong with comparing things when trying to understand what an unfamiliar food would taste most like to a familiar food. You're being incredibly rude and nobody asked for that. If you obviously don't know what it is then don't bash or tear down others who are simply trying to familiarize themselves and learn about this food. You're breaking the cycle of education here and are adding unwarranted and unnecessary ignorance. Quit being an ass and trying to bully others here.
