My big dog catches possums all the time ! They always play dead and eventually go away ! They are originally from South America and crossed over the Panama Canal around the year 1900 and finally reached Canada in the early 90s !

I feel like they have a bad reputation but are actually kind of cute, especially when little. But I never thought I’d see one in such a busy part of town!!

@@kierachaplinvlog my dog Luna brought one in the living room a few months ago and freaked us out ! I scooped it into the dust holder and put it on the deck where it eventually regained consciousness and went away ! I could write a book of all the animals Luna has caught !

@@kierachaplinvlog she’s caught many rabbits, some of which survived. In January she killed a black squirrel that has been teasing her for the past year by jumping on trees on our property knowing that Luna can’t climb trees ! That squirrel destroyed 80 % of our pears on two trees. My wife usually bottles jams and sauces from those trees ! I actually felt bad when Luna left the squirrel dead on our deck. The squirrel was like a part of the scenery in our backyard. We get cardinals, blue jays, hummingbirds, rabbits and coyotes that we watch out the back sliding doors ! In a couple months the coyotes will have puppies and you can hear them howling and wrestling at dusk !
