Have we failed to develop Vedic Social Theory for Modern Bharat? | Varna Jati Caste

Ойын-сауық

In the launch of the path breaking new book, VARNA, JATI, CASTE, Rajiv Malhotra debates Prof Kapil Kapoor and Madhu Kishwar on the lack of a Vedic Social Theory for modern times in our curriculums. Until this is achieved, we will continue to be reactive to the western social theories that are being applied to our civilization. A Vedic social theory does not consist of praising our ancient society, or criticizing other societies, or blaming western biases. A social theory is an entirely different enterprise, and Rajiv Malhotra proposes such an academic project.

You have any questions on the discussion you can ask. Your labeling business will not work here. We know labels such as colonialists, imperialists, crusaders missionaries, jihadies naxals. By tagging your opponent you cannot gain. We know what the white people and their followers did here. Killed millions. Enslaved millions robbed millions. Spread false images of our selves. You want to sustain them work on that. We want to dismantle them. We have freedom we do have power and wealth. So we will do it.

@@chingling4375 bear with my lack of brevity, It doesn't work quite like Tejas because you are describing reverse engineering an existing invention. Creating a political philosophy is the process of society creating political axioms, living through different political systems, which react differently to large cycles of time and accumulate theories, observation and experiences. That process is what creates a unique and robust political system. Western political theory in my definition today is a battle between axioms of collectivist vs liberal vs conservative vs libertarian. Now imagine an Excel sheet with axioms along the X axis and conditions(war victory, economic ruin, famine, civil war, religious reform, technological progress, etc) along the Y Axis. The table that is created has the response of each axiom. In the course of 200 years, they accumulate experience and even flip positions. In the west, a conservative had been racist but is now about a multiracial religious unity. a libertarian has moved from anti capitalism to pro capitalism. A liberal has gone from pro free speech to reasonable restriction on speech. A collectivist used to be communist authoritarian and is now a social democrat. This is what happened in Europe post Renaissance. A colony called the USA picked the best out of the learnings and has created a clearly unsustainable empire that will last another 20-50 years. We don't even have the axioms based on our history. All we have is Trad vs raita vs liberal which is a sorry imitation of the western system and not based on our values at all. I don't mean to procrastinate or have a defeatist attitude when I say 250 years. You are not looking at creating a new document, you are creating a garden/biome of ideas that want to kill each other.

Eg vedas which claim rishis saw shloka in deep state of meditation are just talking about 10 clans their rituals and wars etc. As if God didn't know or ignored people existing in other parts of world. There is no esoteric knowledge in it. Many of the belief are proven wrong scientifically eg meru parvat as center of universe , earth residing on huge turtle etc. There is whole movement to move towards vedic science which is stupid

Sociology is based on several basic assumptions that guide the study of human society and social behavior. These assumptions include: Society is a social construct: Society is not a natural or biological entity but is constructed through human interaction and culture. Society shapes individuals: Society, through its norms, values, and institutions, shapes individual behavior, beliefs, and attitudes. Social life is patterned: Social life follows patterns, structures, and routines that are observable and can be studied scientifically. Social life is dynamic: Society and social behavior are constantly changing and evolving over time. Social behavior is influenced by culture: Culture, including beliefs, values, norms, and symbols, shapes social behavior and provides a framework for social interaction. Social behavior is influenced by social structure: Social structure, including social institutions and social stratification, also shapes social behavior. Social behavior is influenced by social context: Social behavior is shaped by the specific social context in which it occurs, including the physical environment, social relationships, and cultural norms. These assumptions provide the foundation for sociological inquiry and guide researchers in their efforts to understand and explain the complex nature of human society and social behavior. WHAT ARE THE BASIC ASSUMPTIONS OF VEDIC SOCIOLOGY??? I challenge Malhotra's students to answer this. I am going to bet that Vedic Sociology unlike the Western Science of sociology has religious and metaphysical assumptions.

Regarding Hindu sociology and Hindu economic system there is already a system developed almost few decades back by the propounded of Ananda Marga. The society as per him moves spiro cyclical way and there are the ages of Kshattriya,Vipra, Vysya and Shudra this cycle keeps repeating in the society and there needs to be spiritual warriors who are sadvipra and who will hasten the transition from one age to the other whenever there is exploitation. We are now in the vysyan era where corporate kingdoms rule and the gap between the rich and poor has increased. Similiarly there is an economic theory called as PROUT progressive utilization theory which could be looked at as the templates are already there.

There is Dharmashastra compilation by PV Kane which is usually used by our courts for dealing Family law issues and considered as most authentic .The present Hindu law of mitakshara that our courts refer to doesn't consider Female as 'karta' usually as Prof kapil kapoor say. However "Mitaksharisation of hindu law" is also mistake of Hindu law codified in 1950s.Shrimati Madhu ji refer to " what can be structure of 'Hindu rastra ' we can use sabha samiti democratic model of veda electing Rajan and 12 ratnins serving him, including Purohita.we can have viashali model of 7 level of Judiciary also along with fact that samiti is highest judicial body .samiti can act like activist judiciary for safeguarding Hindu interest . We should considering present challenges ,must give "Right to Recall" against all constitutional or legal authorities ,from village to national level. We can also consider separate election of temple authorities directly by people from "cadre of purohita which could be seperate service itself elected by shastrath conducted in front of public" .we can build temple economy only when people has direct control."Right to study at Gurukul is everyone fundamental right with all vedic sciences and social sciences in curriculum.

Enlightening discussion. One thing is clear that we have no systematized sociological theory though substances references and concepts are rich in our Vedic literature spread over many millennia. A variety of sociological theories, models, perspectives and schools of thought exist in the west. Grand sociological theories covering every aspect of social life exist and specific theories on social institutions such as family, religion, education, stratification, polity and economy exist within the modern sociological theory. We need to remember one more important thing here why the subject sociology emerged here. It is for integrating the societies which got fragmented due to industrialization urbanization and individualization in the west. The discipline sociology has not succeeded in their mission. They have yet to find out the need for the core ideal that unites the society the social relations among the society. Our Vedic Seers know it that is dharma which unites family, community, nation, society and the entire world. The western sociological models and methods are capable of breaking down society at any level. They are useful tools for postmortem analysis of social outcomes rather than building societies or sustaining their integration or cohesiveness. So building sociological theories based our literature and our lived experiences is the need of the hour. I am very happy to know that our great Acharya Shri Rajiv Malhotra ji has started this project.

I am not social scientist but based on my experience, I would say the following: 1. The first theory of specialization came from hindus ie varna system and jati system. Now that we ourselves and our politicians have discredited all this, we are hiding our face on account of jati and varna system. I find nothing g wrong with this. One is grouped based on inclination and knowledge imparted from father to son etc. To the based on my knowledge, no other society has such wonderful arrangement. 2. Second element is very cohesive family system, family funding education, business and marriage etc of children even to the extent of taking loan. There is no other society which does so much for family including brothers and sisters. 3. The village panchayat system of managing even major disputes wigh the village. After Independence all this is destroyed. 4. Nonviolence and non killing of human being, trees, animals to the extent that it is sin to kill animals, or cut trees. After arrival of muslims and Christians this has gone to toss. After Independence, this is further degraded where one can find buture shops all over. Etc etc

I agree with your characterization with some minor disagreements on point one, but by and large this system was also the reason for our downfall: 1. Because of point 4, We lost the socio economic edge against colonising Muslims who are today known for creating large canals, roads and new agricultural lands(disrespecting nature) and creating a large revenue base to stay in power and the British who essentially made India into a plantation. I am not saying Hindus were and are incapable of implementing this, I am doubtful of our ability to initiate the process. Since we respect nature, we focused on sustainability rather than scale. 2. The family structure you describe also had a downfall, we spent most of our time being insular and engaged in taking care of people. Elder care particularly has a heavy cost on society. We actually came up with a genius solution to it, vanaprastha where aged people took themselves out of society for pilgrimage allowing young families to focus energy on the vyavaharika(material world) and the younger generation. Are we willing to bring this back? 3. Respect for nature, people and animals also created a lack of colonialism and local insularity. We could never use our soft power to import free resources or people to fight for us beyond a 1000km range. This limited our ability to compete and protect. We could never rely on any non contiguous Kingdom even when our holiest sites were endangered, while each and every time the Muslims lost, they imported foreign armies leading to multiple slave kings and dynasties consistently across history. 4. The values you mentioned are good only for an agrarian semi feudal society not a technological one. The West will create a quasi communist society in response to the infinite services glitch AI will bring. We are stuck simultaneously in a resource curse, Dutch disease and lack of ability to break nature to serve us. A good demonstration of this is the spice industry, you can increase production, unionise, industrialise, create a monopoly over the chemical alternatives, create technical hyperspecialzation within your guild, buy out competition by economically taking over their agricultural lands and then diversify. This process is very painful for both nature and people. Instead our social model makes us prefer creating a class of rich, moral and benevolent. It's not just the rural people, even Tatas used their earnings from TCS to fund social projects instead of investing into the competition for outsourcing, AI.

Caste is a method of classification to manage differences among people harmoniously that comes naturally. Classification is not discrimination. Categorization is NOT mischief to put people at odds. Any difference can be made controversial and discriminatory. Look at American white and black society. Is the discrimination built in as accepted by occupying european whites for few centuries. Any narrative and understanding of India must take into consideration 5000+ years of continuous living civilization. Immigration enforcement is very recent with organizational and military commitment. The modern sociology experts are challenged to consider recent immigration enforcement, communication, journey transportation factors and come up with narrative of human civilization. Please read DVG on Purusha Suktha also Unequal by Nature by prof Crow. No one is equal to another. Every one is uniquely gifted. This is Nature. No amount of politicking and cleverness can change Natural Laws.

Indicators point to a " priest ruler " a Sabha, a public bath yet no grand burrial sites around a leaders legacy. Tends to indicate a high level of socialism had been achieved. The pain of 1 is felt by the many.

Brahman, Sat Chit Ananda, is the most fundamental to Sanatana Dharma. All other concepts like, Jiva, Janma, punar janma, karma, varna, ashrama, Dharma etc., All these are derived from that concept of Brahman. The present day confusion is mainly due to lack of correct understanding of the concepts. All the darshanas main purpose is to give clear vision about truth. If pursued sincerely without selfishness, darshanas provide clear vision. Unfortunately, due to selfishness and ego, with one upmanship thought, of the pandits of darshanas failed miserably. It is true particularly of nyaya. If pursued sincerely without ego, nyaya, being logic, would have provided clear vision. There is great misconception that Brahman and its derivatives cannot fit into logic, which is purely untrue. The purpose of logic is to take us to truth, realise truth, which is Brahman. There can be many paths to reach truth, but THERE CANNOT BE MORE THAN ONE TRUTH. Darshanas can have different understanding, paths, but cannot have different conclusions. If there are different conclusions, it means there is great fault in understanding. Forgetting this, each darshan came to different conclusions, truths. Unknown Truth, if enquired sincerely without ego, definitely will opens itself and enlightens anyone.

Codification of Dharmic Law to replace Abrahamic (Hindu) Law and Abrahamic Constitution imposed on the Dismembered Abrahamic Secular India (DASI - servant of Abrahamic Iconoclastic Desert Sects (AIDS -disease): Professor Rajiv Malhotra has been trying to develop our "Dharmic Sociology" - A theoretical framework for our society based on Veda, Dharma Shastras, Smritis, etc. - to replace the Abrahamic sociology imposed on us. There is a need to develop a new smriti based on all previous ancient smritis to replace ancient smritis like Manu, Yajnavalkya, etc. smritis, and Abrahamic Hindu Law (smriti) in place today, created and imposed on Hindus by colonials, both brown and white skinned. I hope that we will get there before the completion of Gazwa e Hind planned for 2047! Otherwise, Shariat will be the new smriti!

Rajeev ji please make your observations more comprehensive and for that please go to central india and observe janjatiya life. Vedic way of life is actually an effort to create a interdependent society out of many tribes that used to live in bharat. It happened in Bharat because here was the major bulk of homo sapience population living and growing at that point of history-that is around 20-30000 yrs ago. And as the population grew a lot of clusters need to deal with each other. Vedic Rishi’s who were wandering scholars they created the relationship among all these people based on mutual respect . Instead of starting from veda you must look at the social and demographic environment from where the vedas started. Roots of Vedas are in so many mantra drishta Rishi’s from all over India. There are more than 150 gods in vedas . Sanskrit again is a language created out of many roots . The sociology of vedas later on also dealt with the transitional time when a vanadharit or forest based life was getting converted in to agricultural life. Instead of fighting as fiercely independent tribal identities ( which is happening all over the world even now) they created a social structure based on interdependence. Those who believed in these values they linked together. And created the rashtr. Rashtra was made based on the value of interdependence. There were were no fault lines in india as your first bookheading suggests. There were many links to hold everyone together. Elbow in the upper limb is not a fault line. It is a joint to make it a better functional unit. Westerns don’t have the eyes to see this. Remember no where in the world the society had grown beyond tribal identity . In india it was done without harming tribal identities. Thanks for thinking aloud

There is Dharma abd Adharma but where is a justice system based on Dharma. This was the case with Abraham told righteousness until wrong doing in Egypt, then sin was imputed and death. The religion of Abraham is now based on justification by judgement in a court, although Christianity has divorced itself from Abraham, wrongly believing they are no longer judged. I have a Ytube video series called 'Myths in so-called Christianity', which alerts everyone interested to the truth.

Here's some food for thought esp. the anti idolaters - the concept of omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient applies to a stone or rock perfectly - & ad per dharmic upanishads & b.gita it meets all requirements. It remains unmoved by tears of sorrow or joy , it is found all over the cosmos, & is present - under our feet ! So to think of some removed Brahman or Yahweh, elohim etc is not really seeing that it is here - all around us so to seperate this rock from what you perceive is in itself a blasphemy of sentience.
