Have I the Love?... A Poem About A Love Beyond Ego 'Love'. SEE BELOW FOR BACKGROUND ON THE POEM

This poem was written when feeling a deep emotional awareness and connection to the Love beyond our Ego-Love. When one is so in touch with the Spirit and our Eternal Self, that you could gladly and joyfully give up your Ego Self. Sunlight is transient and ends each day, but our Ego holds on, deeply needing to be a physical individual identity and would never sacrifice its 'solidity'! I saw ripples on water and rather than it being me dipping my toe into the water, I imagined I was just the ripple, touching my toe and that I would disappear and if I was I willing to do this, whilst feeling this Love; be the ripple, and not the solid flesh that I believed myself to be? To give, rather than to take. To Love rather than to need. All the images represent the transient Spirit that does not need to hold on. I was aware there was still too much lack, desire, need, fairy tales and wounds within me, to be willing to sacrifice the Ego Self and to return to Spirit. I pictured crumpled meadow flowers, which represented the image of lovers lying in a meadow, and how I was not willing or ready to be the crumpled meadow flowers, supporting the physical beings, for what I could sense was the true Love that was beyond. I still believed and yearned to be the physical, and to remain. Burrowing into the fruits, as youth does; savouring each drop of life and its juices, though as we begin to pass through life's seasons, we start to yearn for and sense a different way of being altogether. If we are lucky and we are able to tap into that source, then instead of feeling only the fear and regret of aging, we can actually start to experience it as something truly beautiful and profoundly poignant; this transient life, that we hold on to so deeply and we can start to feel our true transient self, as our physicality and youth starts to fade and we become more closely aligned to our Spiritual Natures, as we prepare to return...

So incredibly powerful! I know now, that I will always think of a candle being extinguished as a life, ending.
