The things you didn’t understand was “For blonder hair then you just add a magical ingredient form your bladder” which is the fact that women used to bleach their hair in urine to make it more blonde. Also the one who is in the middle is Anna of Cleves who was being prepared for a portrait from Hans Holbein. This is what causes Henry to fall in love with her.

It was actually a little bit more political than that. After divorcing Catherine Of Aragon Spain was not at all happy. War was threatened and Henry needed allies. He looked to Germany and he was given two options, Anne of Cleves and her sister. Henry saw that Anne was better looking so he had her shipped over from Germany.

Imagine being Anne; shipped off to Germany for a political marriage only to be accosted by this old, overweight, foul smelling man dressed up as 'Robin Hood' and his courtiers laughing dressed up as the 'Merry Men'. I'd be terrified as well, they do say British Humour is hard to get accustomed to! Only for this old fat man to say he's the King, storm out and get called a ugly cow in a language you don't know.

Corsets were never painful! They were essentially bras and we're fitted to a person's body! Even men wore them from time to time! The modern world has too many missconseptions on corsets! Edit: what we call "corsets", are actually called "stays".

​@@andysmith5806it's literally impossible to tightlace stays. They were so stiffly boned that they held their own shape, providing a base from which to build the fashionable shape. Towards the end of the stays era (the order of boned garments goes from the pair of bodies that started becoming a thing towards the end of the Elizabethan era, then the stays in the 1700s and early 1800s, then they switched to the much much softer corsets starting in the 1830s) corsets were starting to become a thing- instead of boning the entire garment, they'd put bones in strategic positions and either leave the rest as is or use cording to stiffen it. Corsets can be tightlaced, but it's partly due to this softer style and part because the desired shape became different. Between the stays era, where the desired shape was conical, and the corset era, where the desired shape was an hourglass (both shapes could be achieved with padding), was the Regency period, which went way off the rails. Anyway, yeah, corsets were rarely tightlaced.

​@@SpringStarFangirl in addition to that a LOT of the tightlacing stuff we see is from anti-corset ads from upset people, mostly men by the publishing records but there were probably some older women upset, when corsets were viewed as immodest and that era's erotica. There were probably a few women who actually tightlaced but it was never the norm nor expected.

The person in the middle is Anne of Cleaves who had her portrait made by Hans Holbien and was wife #4. The part you missed was to make your hair blonder use a special ingredient from your bladder, in other words pee.

The next song is Get down

The art style and the transition were perfect. The princess was Anne of Cleaves, whom is more of a modern woman, she has a tomboy personality. She is German princess, whom was actually rejected by King Henry VIII after he meets her. She was already a rich princess so instead they married because King Henry VIII needed to form an alliance with Germany.

Wait till you get to All You Wanna Do, it’s such a bop with a great beat but with dark lyrics if you really listen to what Kathrine H. Is saying

Ann of Cleves is low key my favorite of them xD Am I biased becouse I'm german myselfe? Maybe. But her personality is also really refreshing xD

Anna was a very generous person and when she died she left her entire wealth to her servants (except for one or two jewels, which she left her sister). She really was a queen to be proud of.

Now Get Down! It’s the next song, Misako also made a animatic for it

Ok next songs are Anna of Cleves intro (1:15 long) and then get down

Also, in the show, they mimic a dating app, where Aragon presents three queens, including Cleves. It's staged such that an invisible Henry swipes left on the first two prospects, and right on Cleves. There are sooo many great lines that were not in the soundtrack.

The part you had trouble understanding was Jane saying "For blonder hair, then you just add a magical ingredient from your bladder" Edit: If you think this animatic was crazy, this is NOTHING compared to the chaotic energy that it has with them on the stage.

The beauty community is definitely better in some aspects. In the 1500s “women” (if you know what I mean) were basically forced to try get married to a prince/king if their fathers were nobles. Obviously today there are definitely things that there might not have been, but in my opinion, today is still a lot better than it was, especially since some of the things they did were life threatening. Plus, now, most people aren’t forced to be married.

For „Get Down” I recommend AYEGEE art’s animatic, it’s hilarious while also giving you the cute ladies and the jokes in the lyrics but in image form ^^

Funfact: There are some German words in this song. Like „Haus“ means house and „Wunderbar“ means wonderful. I think the bleaching for blond hair and the beauty standard of blond hair may be a reference of how back then people with blond hair would be more valued then other hair colors. I know this was after the time the musical plays but maybe it could still be a reference.

This song is definitely the silliest on the soundtrack and yes, it does cover up some of the more twisted beauty methods used to look good back in the day. They were using German accents because the Haus of Holbein was stationed in Germany and that's where Anna of Cleves (the girl in the middle on this animation) got her portrait painted and sent off to Henry, who loved it and shipped Anna to England knowing very little about the English language and customs to be his next wife. Haus of Holbein is definitely one of my favorites on the soundtrack based on energy and silliness. Next up is Anna of Cleves' intro, and the next actual song is Get Down (also one of my faves). So excited!

The middle girl is Anna of Cleves, who is a SLAY KWEEN! Also, the line you couldnt hear was "For blonder hair then you just add magical ingredient from you bladder". Hope this helped. (The next song is get down and you should see the one by definicious)

I recommend "Anne of Cleves introduction" by KaitCake1289 and "Get Down" after by AYEGEE Art next. Anna's Introduction is short but you can do them separate or together.

Corsets were the original bras. (In Tudor times they were stays or “a pair of bodies”) Essentially you’re getting back support, it holds all the heavy layers together, and it’s not supposed to hurt. I even went around in a corset for Civil War re-enactments and that era of corset wasn’t a problem until you’d been dancing for hours.

After Jane Seymour died, Henry mourned for a long time before commissioning the artist Hans Holbein to paint pictures of potential brides all across Europe. In this song, the six queens dress up as Hans Holbein's fictional team and talk about the process of prepping them to be painted. Three women are given as options after the song: Christina of Denmark, Amalia of Cleves, and finally Anna of Cleves. Henry chooses Anna because of her beautiful portrait, however when she showed up at court, he decided to dress up as a peasant and greet her like in Old English tales, however Anna, being German, didn't know the tales and yelled at him embarrassing him. This led him to claim she was uglier irl than she was in her picture, and divorce her, leading to the next song, Get Down, which is Cleves's song.

This is my favorite song in Six and it was uploaded on my birthday!! Awesome!

The reason behind this song was to hype up the room again after feeling sad during Jane's song because if they went straight Get Down the audience wouldn't be nearly as excited hyped up as much

Just in case ur confused about who is who in each animatic they will almost always be a certain color: Catherine of Aragon will be yellow/gold Anne Boleyn will be green Jane Seymour will be white Anne of Cleves will be red/reddish orange Katherine Howard will always be pink Catherine Parr will always be blue

As someone who wears corsets - if it fits properly and is worn properly, it should never hurt. It should always feel like a hug that follows you... the thing KK was doing was an elastic monstrosity XP

Wale was indeed used in many beauty products, not only in lipstick but also things like sope and candles. But that's against the law now in pretty much every country (if I'm not mistaken) becouse wales belong to the list of endangered species now. Ahh so the girl being prepped for a painting is Anne of Cleves, in fact we’ll find out more about her in the next song, Get Down. But that’s Anne Of Cleves being done up for a painting.

There are still animals ingredients in make up, especially beetles for colouring (cochineal) which is also in food and drink products. They still use whale and shark in cosmetics too (especially perfumes). Majority of make up (biggest brands) are all tested on animals - so in that respect it’s worse now. And there are still plenty of dodgy chemicals in make up which, if used extensively over time, can really damage your skin.

So Hans Holbein was a painter and best known for his portraits. He was commissioned to paint portraits of the 3 woman Henry was thinking of marrying. Henry decides to marry Anne based off the portrait and then divorced because he thought she was ugly irl. In the musical they set it up as if he's scrolling through tinder profiles.
