I need to make a correction here. I stated that this truck has a 300 in the video and in a few of the comments. It’s actually a 237

@@lawrencetantalo7990 it’s a 6 speed technical, you’ve got the lo gear on the second stick then you run through the other 5 on the main stick.

The 1st on the road truck I drove after was a DM, 237 and a 6-speed overgear dump. Was an ex coal hauler out of Wes Va. and the logs and then rock. Then one with a coal box, 237 and a 2 stick 6-speed. Then Dm's with 237 mixers with walking beams and then everything else. Good old trucks but you really had to pay attention on the 2 stick jobs because the gate between lo-lo and reverse was so close you had to know reverse was a longer throw. The best one was the Superliner with the E-9 and a 12 speed. S T R O N G but whatever pays the light bill. Blessings

Especially when running unloaded . All my family owned & operated was mostly Autocar & Mack . A bunch of nice rides ya have there bud . Found your channel a couple to 3 weeks ago . In the 70s and 80s I drove a DM 600 triangle log truck. It had a 170 hp 711 engine , quadraplex transmission and 60,000 rears. It was one touch old truck. This was before regular use of portable scales so every load was 50 tons. In 10 year I replaced a clutch a differential lock and an injector line. The auxiliary transmission would lock in direct occasionally so you had to go under it and tap it out with a hammer. That only took a couple minutes. I liked the shorter hood on the DM, visibility was better than that R model.

One day I was empty going down hill and a VW bug passed me right before a light. It turned red , that VW went out of sight behind the hood before I got it stopped . I didnt feel a crunch but I had no idea how close I was to him. I hope the damn fool learned somthing from that.

ol' Komatsu was a little smokey there. Miss seeing those Macks on the road here. There are still a lot of DM Mack redi mix trucks running around though. Cant kill them things, but hard to find drivers willing to drive something that is less than 5 years old and not an automatic. That suspension is about the best you could ask for doing off road work. Terrible on your back without a load though.

Thanks for the comment. I’m not unfamiliar with state troops. This trucks been stopped plenty times as you see it and not once was anything said about the way the load was secured. Copied from the code of VA website No vehicle which is designed or used for the purpose of hauling logs, poles, lumber, barrels, hogsheads, or other materials or containers which by their nature may shift or roll, shall be operated or moved on any highway unless its load is securely fastened by adequate log chains, metal cables, nylon webbing, steel straps or other restraining devices so as to prevent the load from shifting or falling from the vehicle.
