    Their trucks are sharp. These two did great. Friendly and courteous as well. I enjoyed watching them and they always had a smile and wave for me. Made me want to pull a pup haha! I've never tried. I saw their company when I went through Toronto last fall.

    @PS 400 Yup, it comes to Thunder Bay by ship too, then it has to be trucked from there to outlying communities. :)

    We don't cross ours either. In fact we can't cross them. If we crossed them, when we jack knife the pup it would damage the tongue.

    Why is the drawbar so long

  • @marysoldeeley2218

    @marysoldeeley2218

    It depends on the weight. More weight needs longer, less weight, shorter.

    The Towbar or Drawbar is that long, to allow the driver to Jack-knife to unload the lead. You back in straight to unload the Pony, and as you see and if you look a little longer you can see the Pony is on his right side of the lead inside the building. My concern would be if they had a spotter inside. Good question...

    Yes they are from Toronto area, but this location is not there. They were hauling salt from Thunder Bay, Ontario to, in this case, Marathon, ON. They hauled all over this area that year. They work all over the place. Not just in Toronto. These 2 were nice people.

    Some of the length is for weight, but more so they can jackknife the pup to dump the truck. This it a tandem dump truck pulling a pup trailer, not a semi. The drawbar have to be long enough to jackknife or it's useless. Imagine having to get out, unhook and rehook every trip. That would be awful.

    I was never taught that 4 ways are mandatory for backing up. If you have a triaxle with auto lifts, ya, 4 ways are on because they are the lockout to lift them before you back up. Some places we dump, we must blast the air horn twice before backing up. Just follow the jobsite rules. These are MTO domes. Usually dumping alone. With my triaxle. These guys ran together that season. Good couple of guys. Very courteous!

    @@canadiantimberwolf1 Yeah, it's a great idea to get in the habit! Here though, they are usually far more concerned about a back up beeper, as 4 ways do not blink in the rear of a dump truck when you have your foot on the brake pedal. The brake lights override the 4 ways in the rear.
