HAUL OUT in GRENADA - Standing Rigging Replaced, Emergency Hatches, Rebedding Windows (Ep. 42)

We make a stop in Carriacou and Ronde Island before hauling out at Clarks Court Marina. We get hauled out to replace our standing rigging, but while we are out of the water, we tackle a few other projects as well. Our salon windows finally get rebedded and we reseal our emergency hatches that had started leaking. We work on shining up Machete while giving the kids small projects to keep them occupied. It's a quick week living on the hard in Grenada.

Yikes...rough ride after being sick 🙊. Respect to Capt. Dan for being proactive on boat maintenance/condition. I have been waiting for some recent Instagram picks. My DW & mini longhair dachshund are on a four month camping/road trip to PNW from Florida.....last 4 weeks in Colorado rockies with little cell service so when I can see your weekly videos or instagram , it's a big day. You may remember me saying your family is the same as mine growing up and my sibling and I were raised similar to your and Dan's values. Thus it brings back great family memories. You guys are what is great about America's Values.......sorry long comment many prayers for your safe journey. PS: I got my two sisters and brother watching now 🤣.

Oh my goodness, what an awesome adventure y'all are on! I'm so glad you told me that about your family - it brings a smile to Dan and me! I hope our kids look back fondly on their time on the boat and the time with their siblings. Thank you for following along with us and thank you for the prayers!

Enjoyed the island exploration. I wonder what treats had those birds so excited? Aww, no lobster for dinner but I _do_ like your seashell. Time for Machete to get a tune up! All hands busy... 'cept Mickey. Good idea, safeguarding the windows. So much done, you're ready for a big run.

After seeing the steering chain break on Paradise Falls’ boat on their trip up from BVIs to FL to refit, i think a stainless steering chain is mandatory upgrade. How was the rigging process? I’ve heard it’s a 10-15k job.

Yikes about the chain - I don't understand why it's not stainless! The rigging was about $7700, but we didn't replace our turn buckles. They were inspected and looked good. If we would have replaced those it would have been $10,480. The rigging process was really smooth - we really loved MSB rigging.

Hey, congrats on making it to Grenada..!!! Standing rigging replace...? ...Ouch...$$$$ Dad's looks to be losing some weight... Also...your red skin...looks like a Niacin overload. Tuna is high in Niacin, same with Salmon, and Anchovies. Other fish too. Niacin will make your skin red, and get this dry burn feeling. What Niacin is doing is kinda like emulsifying the fat under your skin. It's kind of a health thing. It's breaks up the fat bonds, making the body able to digest it. People will take it to break up fat, and then when they exercise, their body will utilize the fat. Glad everyone is healthy, and you are getting your boat upgraded. ☮

Thank you so much!! I think it was scombroid fish poisoning, or histamine fish poisoning - I had a couple bites of the fish and had an allergic reaction to it. Didn't eat too much of it. Our friends reeled in a massive tuna and it took them hours to reel it in, fillet it and get it into the fridge. But who knows!? Ha! Thank you for watching and commenting!
