I used two nested totes as my brooder. The space between the two totes made good insulation. During cold weather, you might insert sheets of bubble pack between the totes. I used a seed heat mat as a heater and controlled it with an STC-1000. It was a cheap and effective setup.

Thank you. I have the Harvest Time cages for my quail but used a portable dog kennel for the brooder. This looks a lot more convenient and easy to keep clean.

Question about the hatching time brooder. I now have mine and have dialed in the brooder temp to around 95 degrees. My question is about the auto watering system. I’ve notice the top of the brooder is pretty warm. Does the water temp climb too much and cause issues? I know you started them on the tiny water containers but like you… I hope to use the brooder as a grow out container as while. For the first few weeks does the auto watering system stay too warm for them? Or is that preferred? I when not using the brooder I’m also wondering if keeping the heat on in there would prevent the water from feeezing during winter temps? Any insight on this? You videos helped me decide on the hatching time cages. Got a 3 tier layer, one tier grow out, and 1 tier brooder to experiment with. New to quail as well.

Awesome Sir! I have a question during The Incubating stages how do you make the humidity go down? I’m a newbie at Quail hatching and my humidity is at 60 right now. Can I open it up and remove some water? Or that’ll kill the eggs?

60 is fine. It will go down as days go on. Just keep it above 40. When you get to lock down you want it to be above 70 if possible. You can open it up to adjust the water up until the lock down day.
