    Some of these people really got fired over nothing, asking for an autograph ? Leaving the mic open ? Bringing coffee to a starbuck ? Sure tell your employee that's not professional and warn them, but leave them without a job ? America, you're a weird country

  • @Rose-ff8gd

    @Rose-ff8gd

    5 жыл бұрын

    A) We are a weird country, but we are a free country, and that means (along with other, more important things) that employees can be fired whenever for whatever reason (provided there was no union/contract involved). B) Keep in mind that some to all of these are faked, most likely due to the tweeters' want for internet karma or something else that doesn't actually matter. The following points are assuming that these are true accounts. C) *Autograph* : Restaurant policy? Most likely in LA where where they get a lot of high-profile costumers, and if employees are constantly asking for autographs/pictures service would slow considerably. D) *Leaving the mic open* : If you are referring to 2:05 , that person specifically got on the store-wide PA system to shout that, disrupting the costumers' experience. Considering what I can gather about them doing the act, then feeling little to no guilt (they tweeted about it publicly as an effort to get on TV), I would think they have done similar things before, and as it stands, I would have fired them for this alone. E) *Coffee* : They brought a competitor's brand of their main item of trade into work, effectively telling costumers that not even the employees think that their product is good enough at low enough price. I would say that is bad enough for punishment of some kind, especially if the employee already had a few strikes against them.

    +Night Star Allowing for the potential 'fakeness' of some of those tweets, here in the UK we have a thing called unlawful termination (or something similar). You can't just be terminated for anything, there has to be a legitimate and valid reason or you can fight it. Sometimes this can lead to a payout for loss of earnings and maybe even keeping the job if you still want it. Do you not have anything like that in the US? Some of these firings would be covered by that, including bringing competitors brands into a workplace. You may not be allowed to have it visible to customers but they couldn't stop you drinking/eating it. As for the autograph, without all the details it's hard to say but it may also have been how they asked. Did they go up to him as soon as he arrived, did they go up to him whilst he was eating, which would be wrong. Did they pester him or bring unwanted attention to him that led others to ask? Who knows, it could have been a number of things or simply policy as you say. Even as a fellow customer I'd have a note delivered asking them politely, then it's up to them and at their convenience. That's worked for me before, sometimes much better than I expected.

    Iwaves Same. In Germany you have to write a warning like 2 or 3 times before you can fire someone. Its to protect the workers. Like imagine people just loosing their jobs left and right cause of such dumb things. America isnt only weird its not safe either. Like the country doesnt support its people, sounds stressful to me

    About 18 years ago, my brother got his first job at a Burger King and part of the employment packet had one specific rule that stated something along the lines of not being allowed to be a customer or recipient of McDonald's products(food/drink) at anytime on shift or off(in private life while employed). I thought it stupid at the time but as an adult I totally get it. It's totally cheating yourself and the company you rep out of money...

    You should be able to buy whatever other places sell. Just because you work at a certain place doesn't mean you have to consume their products or even endorse them. You just have to not say anything bad about them. I think that lady should have not been fired for bringing a different coffee type to her workplace. That doesn't seem fair at all.

    My friend and I each printed 300 blank sheets of paper during our typing final. All the good students freaked out because the test was graded/timed based on how fast you turned in the printed sheet to the teacher. This was early 90s, and sadly so was the teacher I think, so she couldn’t figure out what was happening as blank sheet after blank sheet continued to pour out both printers. Mass hysteria. That Fuddruckers stunt must have been HILARIOUS! Anyone still reading who likes to fuck around at work, bring crazy glue and a handful of coins to work. The gift that keeps on giving. My friend printed out 300 blank sheets of paper during our typing final in HS. It was a timed test based on the time when you turned in your paper, and we had old dot matrix printers. The teacher (super old) couldn't figure out how to stop it, the straight A students were freaking out. They called in the janitor (who didn't know shit about computers, that wasn't his job) It was hilarious and completely chaotic. And we were the only people who knew what was happening.

    Back when I worked at KFC me and the night manager did a similar thing ringing up lots of cheesecake desserts to see the cost would be for a million of them. The aftermath was the big boss asking why there was a void for such a high amount of cheesecakes. The night manager ended up coming clean and saying a customer wanted to know the cost. Naturally the boss didn't buy that story so he had to really tell the truth. Didn't cause either of us to get fired, but didn't make the boss happy. The boss also wasn't happy about the paper plate man I made out paper plates and straws for arms. Forgot I sat it in the high chair. While cleaning the dining room. Apparently the paper plate man fell off the chair and set off the alarm. The boss had to come to the restaurant after hours and check it out. The night manager told me as I arrived, while he tried not to laugh. I was like oh yeah my paper plates dude. Totally forgot about it. That didn't even get a warning. But that girl brings a different coffee and gets fired? Wacky!

    hahaha oh my gosh, I love it!! you're hilarious!!! I was cracking up about the paper plate man!! when I used to work flow team at target (early morning stocker), I would build forts out of the boxes in all the aisles. when I worked at mcdonalds (and sprouts) I would buy one of those things of little dinosaurs and put them in random places in the middle of rushes when no one was looking and no one could figure out where they were coming from, I like filling bathroom sinks with bubbles and rubber duckies and again no one knew how it happened. when I worked at massage envy and had to wear black pants, one time there was a hole in the thigh so I colored my thigh with sharpie so they sent me home to change (they weren't thrilled but they were also trying not to laugh) I didn't get fired for those things, but yeah, work is fun 😆 also, I totally agree about the coffee. ridiculous. no one can tell you where to get your coffee. I don't understand how they got away with that one. I worked at Starbucks and peet's and no one ever cared what drink I brought in. petty. I don't believe that one. sounds suspicious. anyways, I super duper enjoyed your comment and hope you have a wonderful day (if you ever see this lol, I see that I'm commenting 6 months later lol.) Jesus loves you so much!!

    We played a game at school where someone would pull and celebrity name out of the box, describe them, and people would have to guess who it was the fastest. Someone pulled out Jimmy Fallon's name and said "He has a talk-show" and then three or four people automatically said "Jimmy Fallon!". So I guess Jimmy Fallon is officially the most recognizable talk-show host 👍
