That Girl As someone with breast, I can 100% confirm that you can accidentally honk your horn with your breast on accident. I have done it, I’m not proud, it scared the daylights out of me.

My first car didn't have a working speedometer, odometer, or gas gauge- I didn't know how fast I was going, how far I had gone or how much gas I had left!

Absolutely true story I cannot make this up.. I was going to meet my friend at Applebee’s to car pool which was right near a highway. We had to perform in two community theatre shows that day. I was running late to meet him, I got out of the car when I got there to put something in the trunk and I closed my car door and got in his car. I returned 12 hours later, as we pulled in I saw my car headlights on. I thought weird.. I left the headlights on for 12 hours!? I got out of the car to see.. I LEFT MY CAR RUNNING FOR TWELVE HOURS IN THE PARKING LOT! How no one stole my car or there was still gas in the car is BEYOND me! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

There was a comedian (Jonnie W) who was running late for a show and he parked, ran in and did the show, and afterward he was looking for his keys and went out and realized his car was still running. 12 hrs is a lot longer though!

That's why it's illegal to drive with flip flops on in Australia.

The Screwbaru. I’m dying!

I also had Highway to Hell play in my car when I thought I was going to die. I was driving very early in the morning, before dawn, in the worst blizzard of the winter, and I forgot to turn on my 4 wheel drive. I met a semi, and the tailwind from his trailer, combined with the road conditions caused by the blizzard, was enough to send me into a spin. I spent the next 30 seconds or so turning donuts between all 4 lanes. Luckily, I managed to keep between the guard rails, and there was no other traffic on the highway. Presumably because no one else was crazy enough to be driving before dawn in the worst blizzard of the winter.

Some guys in traffic were screaming rude racist things to my friend in the passenger seat so when they pulled up she grabbed some old stale peeps I had in my car and nailed the dude and cut him with the stale hardened peep! I didn’t realize how dangerous 4 month old Easter candy was until then.

I cracked the windshield in my husband's care...from the inside...because I was hyper and got excited about something shiney...I tried to apologize to him sincerely, but I was so shocked that I had done that, I couldn't stop laughing.

long ago, i was listening to Kiss "Destroyer" (the one with "Detroit Rock City"!) while driving down the highway in the rain, and i spun out and landed in the median. i got out and kept driving, much slower, still listening to Kiss, but i spun out again and ended up on the opposite side on the shoulder facing the wrong way. i never listened to Kiss in the rain again.

Don't they teach you specifically Not to drive with flip flops on? At the very least, it would seem you would have more control if you drove barefoot, right? The flippy and/or floppy part wouldn't get caught between the pedals like it unfortunately did for _brendaemily.

countrygirl countrymusiclover I’m glad to hear you haven’t had trouble. 9 years of driving experience is very impressive. My driving instructor in Massachusetts mentioned that style of footwear can pose a problem while driving. There are stories all over the internet of car accidents involving people driving while wearing flip flops, as the beloved Jimmy Fallon highlighted in this segment of one such incident. And I’ve actually also driven while wearing ‘backless shoes’. I also understand why you wouldn’t want to ruin freshly painted toenails with stuffy closed-toed shoes in summer, and would instead opt for the open-toed alternative. But do you know what else would protect your nails besides flip flops? Driving barefoot.

@@Sammstar420 It's not where I live (in Au) but it's the type of urban myth that people still think is true. I drive in bare feet and put shoes on once I get to my destination. Yes, that's a hassle but it's the safest option. Sandals/thongs are dangerous, shoes w heels are dangerous, the rigid type of sneakers I have to wear for my dodgy feet are dangerous, so barefooted is my safest and best option.

My last car had a weird issue where if i idled too long the car alarm went off. It was one of those viper ones to it was SUPER loud. The first time this happened was in a taco bell drive thru. I'm pretty sure the guy on the headset has some form of hearing loss now

I had a geo as a first car. the driver's door didn't open, the passenger window was stuck half rolled down. the passenger door didn't close so we tied shoe strings together and tied them with the broken seatbelt and I had to actively hold the door closed by a rope because the handle was also broken. and it didn't go above 50mph. 🤦‍♀️

The music ones made me think of my own story. I'm a southerner, but I spent a year in Iowa for school (taking a break now). At one point in October my mom came to visit me, so I had to drive to the airport to pick her up. I have a small, boxy kinda car, so driving I had to constantly fight against the wind. It was storming that day, and also I was on the main road, so no trees or buildings to cut the wind. So basically I was fearing for my life in my little car. I had the radio on the rock station, which was at that moment playing Rock You Like a Hurricane

In high school I dated a guy whose trunk popped open when he closed his driver side door

Hahahah my dad did the same thing as the flip flop gal. Put down our garden wall though.

Had a business meeting at a lawyers office (estate stuff)and had to park in the most expensive lot in the city. I lost my minivan for 4 hours, because I was pushing the fob to make the honking noise, but the fob had died and I didn't know it. That was an $85 mistake I won't make again. 🤣

Getting your flip flop stuck on the gas is no joke. I backed into a tree and and kept backing into it because my foot got stuck.

I remember one time when I was about 8, my paternal grandmother (who’s a hateful woman and dislikes me) picked me up from school. My cousin (she picked him up form school too) wanted Subway so she went inside with him while I stayed out in the car and waited for them. Now here’s where the car fail part comes in. My mamaw is very protective of her stuff and doesn’t like when ANYONE gets her stuff dirty, especially her car. I was in the front seat (since the car was parked, I moved to the front to change the radio) when I noticed a big bug on the windshield. Don’t remember what kind it was but all I remember was that it was HUGE. I didn’t want it on the windshield so I looked and saw the windshield wipers. I turned them on and it killed the bug. Problem is that thing like exploded and it’s guts went ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD, ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. Like it wasn’t in just one spot, it was EVERYWHERE. My cousin was watching me from inside Subway and his eyes went big with shock. Like I said my mamaw is hateful and overprotective of her stuff so if she sees that I got her car dirty (even In the slightest bit) she’d flip her shit. I panic and my cousin starts motioning the use the water sprayer thingy, I do that but it SMEARS ALL OVER THE WINDSHIELD EVEN WORSE. I’m in full panic mode so I turn the windshield wipers on again and make it EXTREMELY worse. My cousin goes outside to me and is like “oh she’s gonna kill you” since my mamaw hates bugs. She came outside, yelled at me and made me clean her windshield when we got home. My papaw thought it was fucking hilarious and was laughing. Not really a fail but I think it’s funny about how much me and my cousin panicked over a smeared bug’s guts on mamaw’s windshield 😂

I had a boyfriend who had a Subaru. Same thing, screwdriver in place of a gearshift. Screwbaru is clever.

I have very small feet (have to shop in the children's section), so I've never been in danger driving in flip flops. If one slipped off, it would just fall on the floor between the pedals.

My brother got an old city truck for his first car. It was huge and yellow, we called it the banana boat.

I was trying to back my half ton extended cab pickup out of a crowded Wal-Mart parking lot. A man was pushing a loaded grocery cart in my blind spot. I began to slowly back out... I didn't injure the man, but I backed slowly into his cart, and was pushing him and the cart backwards about 10 feet or so before I realized what I'd done!

That’s so true about Subaru, I knew someone who stole a bunch.. and all you had to do back in the day was shove a screw driver down in the center console where the ignition was.

Best one was the Screwbaru.

My boyfriend and our housemate were driving home from a show really late at night. While stopped at a red light, a random stranger opened the back door and started to climb into the car. When my boyfriend and housemate asked him what he thought he was doing, he stopped and said "wait, you're not...I thought you were my Uber?" Then in complete silence and horror got out of the car and shut the door and walked away. Except, no one uses that door because it's broken, so he had to turn around, walk back to the car, and shut the door again.

Doesn’t it specifically tell you not to drive in flip flops in the drivers education book? It’s been a few decades but I remember that being a thing.
