My first time out with the 10k was 13 of 14 fairways hit…it’s a beast

All golf equipment manufacturers scam the public. Every year, new equipment is just a different paint job and a paper clip worth of weight is moved around the club. Then a marketing blitz happens and golf influencers say it is the best club they’ve ever hit when compared to past models.

The scam comes when you were a sucker that bought the 430 Max should have waited for the 10K but who would have known. That's the whole thing about this video promoting the 10K Max and feeling sorry for the 430 Max non 10K if you know what I mean

If it was just about moving weight around the head, the SLDR should’ve been one of the best drivers ever invented and it ended up being a total bust, there’s way more technology than you’re giving credit for.

I would also say you’re wrong. But only up until now. I haven’t hit this Ping in particular, but I bought the Taylormade Qi10 and it’s easily the best club I’ve ever used, and you can easily see and feel the technology work with every miss hit. Toe, heel, they barely move off line. I haven’t hit a nasty slice or a strange duck hook since I bought it 4 months ago. The price tags on these new clubs is disgusting, but I keep telling myself that I will and have saved money on buying balls to replace lost ones

I bought the G430 max as when I tested it with the G430 10k I personally didn’t get enough differences to warrant the additional cost. Prices of drivers now are getting ridiculous with people getting drawn into marketing hype which ‘justifies’ the cost. Good video and thanks for doing an honest review 👍

I wouldn't be worried about the price even if it's $200 more expensive it's like come on dude you're probably paying a lot of money every time you go golfing I doubt that you're poorer like get the best club possible for you don't be a cheapskate you know. At the same time though if you didn't see a difference then well there we go but still don't worry about the money bro $500 to $200 or even $1,000 is nothing in the grand scheme of things

You should see the Chinese dupes. There's been some extensive testing that suggests the real world difference is only for those shooting 72 holes a week

I bought my G425 Max on sale about 18 months ago. I'm very pleased with it (the sound is also something I like about it). I don't think I'll be changing it for at least 3 years, probably not at e5 years)

I’ve hit all three of the 430 lineup, including the 10k and still have the 425 in the bag… There’s something about the 425 that I like better than the 430 and that’s all ranges. The main difference for me is the feedback you get from the 425.

Great review, love the video. I'd push back that it's not a scam by Ping releasing something in the same 430 series. One, it's a year later. Many of the big brands release a new model every single year. Ping shouldn't be criticized for that. And two, all of this R&D is ongoing. Ping can't just release everything at the same time when there is ongoing development to produce something better. Why wait? This driver wasn't ready last year, but it is now. Golfers should expect that there will always be improvements down the road, and there will always be the choice of buying something now or waiting. Always.

It’s a bit like PC’s 30-35 years ago. Every year faster plus a new modem that was faster. You know 2400 3600 to 5400. Or 286 386 processors with many MHz’s. If you waited 1/2 year something new had popped up. Similar with golf clubs. But as a high handicap player (ie 20++ depending of day, rain & the moon etc etc) I like the forgiving clubs most.

i have changed from the max to the 10k max but did get it at a great price its deffinately longer but no more forgiving but it sounds fantastic now

It's definitely not as forgiving as the normal max, I don't care what anyone says. The lower spin makes it longer, but also reduces forgiveness on the high toe low spinner

I think many have missed the point in this driver, it’s not a replacement for the Max, it’s another option. Think of it as Max driver for guys looking for slightly reduced spin. The majority of people who’ve bought a FITTED 430 Max probably will see little to no benefit to going with Max 10K. Feel it’s a little unfair to be quoting RRP price when it can be bought for less. Titleist TSR is 18 months old still selling for £529, no one criticised Titleist for their price increase

And no one criticised Titleist for the staggered release of TS1 thru 4. Nor should they as they're different drivers..... As is the 10k Max. Its been said already but Pings release cycles are less frequent than most. I get how some 430 owners might feel aggrieved but that's life. The lesson is, never buy a driver until February!

Get real I just paid £470

I just purchased a 3-4 yr old Cobra SZ Speedzone brand new, surprisingly, and I'm getting less spin with slightly more distance than my 9 month old G430 MAX. I know the technology is improving, but i agree that the prices are getting ridiculous. $169 for the new Cobra SZ, by the way. $400 cheaper than the new 430 MAX 10K.

I think that it's good, that they're making the game easier, but so disappointed with the price tag. Ping, up until recently, were always reasonably priced. I'm glad that I waited and didn't go for the 430 max. I think I'll look at Taylormade or Callaway.

I had already bought the driver! And I was watching the video to see if was too crazy! And maybe it was not worth the money!! But you are right! I loved your passion and enthusiasm in this video!! How could you not put it in the Bag!!

The G430 is a lovely club, but I saw a video only last week stating that the G425 Max and the G430 10k had almost exactly the same data when tested and distance. I love the G425 so will not be changing any time soon. Either some one are trying to pull a last one or no one noticed the data from the previous model.

I was fitted for a 430 max last May. Still not finished paying for it. I think if you have the Max, you're not going to see a big difference by 'upgrading' to the 10K. You can get them for about 550 if you shop around. Keep up the great content from the Nevada Bob winner 🤠

I use the 430 LST, and tested the 10k at this year's PGA Show demo day in Orlando...was shocked how good my numbers were.

Really Happy with my G430 Max , game changer for me playing off 13 !!

I play the G430 Max, Kai'li White stiff shaft, had it just over a year now and my game off the tee has been great. I did get fitted which was very important, this driver had enough of an impact on my game that I ended up getting the 3 wood and 3/4 hybrids, absolutely LOVE them.

I just bought a G 430 max 10k and honestly it is sooooo good. I treated myself after a breakup and i dont have a single regret. My best drive was 230 yards carry last year and on the simulator i was carrying 260 rollout 280 more than i could have imagined. Is the 215 slice still in the bag? Absolutely, but it doesnt go as far right nearly as my last club. Could not be more excited about this golf season in 2-4 weeks.

So I bought the lst last year. I was not happy until I saw it in person. It’s huge! Also not adjustable with the weighting. I think the lst is very forgiving so I’m sticking with it!

It sounds like you’re a Taylormade guy, but for the price the 425 ping is so tough to out perform. The sim 2 max still holds good value though bc of how good it is compared to newer tm.

My buddy got the SFT and I got the LST. The 10k didn’t fit either of us. The SFT makes his drive look like a baby fade and the LST is everything I wanted in a driver. Stock shaft and I can hit it 340. When I hit the Smoke with a $350 shaft upgrade I was bettering, at most, 332 yards. I’ll take the 8 extra yards even though I think the driver is hedious.

How about a head to head between this 10K and the regular Ping G430 Max, Callaway Ai Smoke Paradym and Taylormade Qi10? Hit 10 balls with each and let’s see the numbers and the dispersion and really see if this is worth the money.

Welp, I went and tried both and the 10k is so much better than the normal G430 max. worth the money.

10k honestly best driver I have ever had. I don’t know if it is the confidence I have in it don’t know what it is but it is straight and long.

Thank you providing impressive demo and confirm my decision to get one G430 max 10 k with R shaft. I am a Senior Golfer late 60s with hcap 15 and looking for a Driver that will maintain distance with age approaching 70 and still teeoff from blue Teebox..

Suggest you get a proper fitting because from the info you have supplied it could well be that the 10K will be less benefit to you than the non 10K max.

Fitted for a LST last February, I think the 10k was slow to market. Those who bought a stealth 2 or parardym, cobra know it’s a 12 month cycle.

Love my 425 LST but was given $600 Golf shop gift card so I bought the 430 10K Max. Distance is about the same but the forgiveness of the 430 is amazing. Hard to miss the fairway with any decent swing.

If it works, it works and the QI10 has a more draw bias, not sure about the other one you mentioned, where as the G430 max 10K is more straight so depends on if you need help with fade or not from those two. Also not seen this at £600 but again not sure if golf supply selling it at that 😢, have seen it at under £530!

I did a fitting last year to replace my second hand bought, 6 year old driver for Cleveland. The Hi-Bore XLS. I tried several drivers, from different branches, After 1 1/2 hour I decided to stay with my old driver because the win of a new ones was marginal for the money I had to spent.

Strange PING did 10k in one of their drivers many, many years ago and only now that TM make a big deal out of it do they make a fuss??? Honest opinion here...you're buying that Ash. I have no doubts 🤣🤣🤣 To be fair to PING, Debi tried her G425 Max against the G430 Max when one of their 'Tour Vans' came to our club. He couldn't beat her G425 with anything he had available, told her so and suggested she 'maybe' come back when they released a new driver. There was no pressure to buy at all. Excellent company for her...now IF I were Westy or one of the other new G430 buyers I may be a little miffed. However, just because the 10K is out, doesn't make the previous models bad drivers.

I own the 430. Cant imagine anything more forgiving than that. I’m more interested in distance at this stage

Amen.....have the 430 Max from last year, I honestly can't imagine it being any better than what I get out of my max. Seems silly to me that people think it's some massive difference and makes their $500 one last year worthless lol, I just doubt it.

I have a G 425 and tried several drivers during covid. Was a low handicapper but don't play much anymore. The G 425 was by far the easiest to hit and most consistent. I may not play for a few months now , no practice and go out and hit 10 or 11 fairways with it .

I just got fitted and the standard G430max was better for me than the 10k. I went in for a 10k but the spin numbers were better on the original. I think 10k is suited for players who come down steep on it. It’s like a forgiving version of the LS Tec imo.

(Warning: long post) Hello, as a person who owned both the G430 Max and the G430 LST, I can offer a little bit of what I saw comparing those two drivers to the G430 Max 10K. Tidbits: Compared to my G430 Max, I saw about 5 yards distance increase on the Max 10K, so that's really not a factor, but I did see my dispersion tighten up by about 10% or so. The G430 Max gave me a little more ability to shape the flight of the ball (draw/cut), while the Max 10K just does one thing super well... it's straight. Launch angles and spin rates were almost identical between the Max and the Max 10K (the spin rate on the 10K was a touch higher, about 100 rpm give or take). Now, compared to the LST, I do lose a little bit of distance on the Max 10K, but pretty minimal (about 5 yards or so), but again, I see a tighter dispersion on the Max 10K. The big difference here is the launch angles and spin rates, as the Max 10K produced about 1-1.5 degrees higher launch angle and about 400 rpm higher spin rate. Now, there's a hat trick here that people may or may not know about... The perimeter weight on the back of the clubhead on the Max 10K is 28 grams. On the Max, it's 25 grams, and on the LST, it's 22 grams... this gave me an idea. I started playing around with that weight and started monitoring my launch angles and spin rates. What I discovered is that if you want LST performance with a little more forgiveness, swap out the 28 gram weight for the 22 gram weight. Going to the 22 gram weight dropped my launch angle by about 1.5 degrees, and reduced my spin rate to almost identical to my LST, about 400 rpm. Putting in the 25 gram weight made it almost identical to my Max for both launch angle and spin rate. So a person could tweak their preferred launch angle and spin by swapping out the perimeter weight at the back of the clubhead. Again, I must make it clear that these are numbers that I personally saw when testing and owning these drivers. Your mileage my vary. Was I upset about Ping releasing the Max 10K after I had purchased a Max? Not really, after finding out why... Ping was initially having some trouble with the addition of the carbon fiber on the crown of the clubhead. Now some people may scream, "Well, Ping has it on the LST!" Yes, they do, BUT... the shape of the head between the LST and the Max 10K is a bit different, and because of the different shape, Ping was having a little bit of trouble with putting the carbon fiber on the crown and making it reliable, which is why it didn't get released right away. Ping did it right by marketing it as an addition to their G430 line, as I feel if they simply marketed it as the "new" G430 Max, that would have definitely angered more people, leaving people feeling like they've been ripped off. Is it WORTH the $600 price tag? If you already have an LST or a Max, no. Just "dance with the one ya brung". Only reason I went after it is because I got great trade-in value for my Max. But, for someone that's looking to upgrade from something that's older than maybe 4-5 years old, it may be worth it. (Side note: I did hit the Taylormade Qi10 Max and the Callaway Ai Smoke. They were both very forgiving, but the Qi10 was consistently 20 years shorter distance, and the Ai Smoke didn't feel good to me at impact, wasn't getting any feel.)

I just bought the g430 10k and it is a game changer. I have mishit low inside heel and top outside toe hit. Both were in the fairway but lost yardage. My last driver they would have been alive city or duffed OB. This is by far the best driver for forgiveness. PXG Q1d and Ai smoke all great but still not close

Just bought a new driver with a new old stock PRGR driver head from 1998 for $120 USD. It's the best driver I've ever had. Smokes my previous 2020 Sim. My advice is to hit everything and only buy the newest if it is the best fit for you. If you care about money...

Why not do a head to head with the 10k vs old max? That will answer your question on whether or not Ping's "new" model is worth the "upgrade" or not.

I needed a new driver this spring - went to big golf shop in NH with an outdoor range. (I shoot low-mid 80's). Hit 20-25 balls each with all the big names, although I was SURE I'd eventually buy a Stealth, Paradym, AeroJet, Titleist TSRx OR the Ping G430 max. I'm a sucker for "most forgiving!" and "ridiculously long!" - along with the looks. Threw in the Cleveland Launcher as well knowing it didn't stand a chance. BY FAR, the club I hit the straightest was the Cleveland - and it wasn't close. After an hour of hitting balls, I couldn't justify buying anything but the Cleveland - cut 2 inches off, re-gripped it w/ a jumbo and I'm in the fairway 9 out of 10 drives - when I miss, I know exactly why. No, it's not going 300, but I'd rather be 270 and in the fairway anyway. People are being suckered by the big-name manufacturers - "use the same driver Rory Mcllroy uses!" - yeah, right...no. His driver is molded to his exact specs - which most couldn't hit if they tried. Every year a new and improved model comes out - and the previous years "must have/best ever" driver drops in price by a couple hundred - and nobody seems to see anything wrong with this.

Same thing happened when the Ping G400 came out and then the Ping G400 Max came out. BTW, a look back revealed that the G400 Max had an MOI over 9,900. Making it close to the first 10K MOI driver to hit the market.

I found the G430 max too spinny, looks like Ping did too, as they have made the 10k version spin less, however i am pleased to say, it still spins too much. My fitter says it’s continually spinning over 3500. I ended up with Ai Smoke max, 9 degree set at 8, spinning at 2300, longer, straighter and great dispersion, what’s not to like. I get its horses for courses, (Pardon the pun), but my fitter also says the Ping isn’t the most forgiving, certainly isn’t the longest but might be the best at spinning. Spin can be your friend, but equally cost you shed loads of distance.

I don't think it's that cheeky for the 10k release, you're not gonna have the latest model for longer than a year, there's always gonna be a straighter and longer version that comes out next year, same goes for phones cars etc. Obviously that's assuming they didn't have the 10k model ready for release last year, which would make sense as TM have only just hit 10k MOI as well. I bought the LST last year as well, can't say I'm bothered by it.

Just had a fitting at AG; went through almost every driver in the shop to upgrade from my old SIM Max D. As soon as I picked up this club with the stiff 'bishi shaft I was hitting absolute piss missiles. No sales guff, just 100% feel and this driver feels bloody good. Am I a bit aggrieved to pay £549 for it? Yes - although £245 of that is just the shaft. Do I think its going to straighten out my drives? Yes Ultimately if i choose to sell it, it'll hold value fairly well as most Pings do, but I honestly cant see this being surpassed for someone like me for quite some time.

I had the G430 MAX I was annoyed because the G400 Max was my favorite driver so I just knew I wanted another high MOI beast in the bag so I sold the max and I am about to get the 10k.

I think it is naughty of ping, I looked at the G430 when it came out but decided to leave it. Just had a fitting at the weekend and I really liked how the 10k performed better than the max for me. However the max was no better than my current driver so I would not have upgraded if not for the max. If the G430 was a really good fit for you I am not sure the 10k would be better it. I have a bit of speed and the 10k keeps the spin down for me, the lst was all over the shop. I also tied the AI smoke and got no improvement… I am leaving behind a Ts2 - just had to swallow the looks for the performance. Also it was £550 for me and I got some cash for the ts2

If they had called it the G440 would you have the same issue with them releasing a new driver a year later? Taylor Made, Callaway, Titleist all release new drivers annually.

It's called being greedy as the norm with these manufacturers. My last driver was a ping G15 fitted with a oban devotion shaft just changed to a Taylormade sim2 max in 2023.

Got a Darkspeed X to replace a Paradym TD which was a bit too demanding on off days. It's much more forgiving but I'm getting a 10K with my tax return money to make golf as easy as possible. I think I may still keep the Darkspeed for prime summer months like a convertible sports car which I have never owned lol.

I think its all relative to your swing. Ive got a fitted G430 max and recently it has been kicked out of the bag by a off the shelf, older Callaway Epic Max LS. I get more distance, tighter dispersion, and lower spin. Go figure?

I still use the G400,most all round driver ever made ..about £180 on ebay.

Changed from G400 to G430 max10k. Forgiveness similar, distance better. After clearing my garage and going to Clubs4Cash, cost £100. Still have the 400 just in case🙂

I got the g430 max this week annnd I’m really happy. I’m a higher handicap golfer. I hit my old driver, the callaway AI, and the tit-less … as well as the 430. The 430 was 900 AUD, the clustering of my shots on the g430 was so much tighter than any of the others I hit. Around 2200 rpm backspin vs over 3000 for the others. *if* I could get the 10k it was other another 200$ more expensive. For people like me Think about how many times you hit driver when playing and whether it’s worth spending all your money on that one club vs short game and approach improvements.

Well good news for a long time G400lst user, finally might have something to change to. Almost went Tsr but maybe ping has one to take my g400lst out of the bag.

I have tried several of the new drivers out this year. Being honest I could not hit any of the new drivers consistently better then my Callaway Mavrik Max driver.

This or the Taylormade 10k will be my next driver, £50 between them currently.

When I took up the game it was the era of "wood/woods." You either played a laminated Maple or a Persimmon-headed driver. The Persimmon was a harder wood and the ball jumped off the face so you usually got more distance but they were a lot more expensive (from my POV) than the laminated. Here's the difference between back in the day game of golf and today. The drivers were about 185-190 cc (somewhere between the size of today's 5 wood and 3 wood) compared to the 460cc of today's drivers. The sweet spot on the wood drivers was about the size of a dime (no kidding), compared to today's drivers where the sweet spot is nearly the entire face. Add to that the shafts were heavy steel compared to today's super-light graphite (forget about generating the club head speed with the "wood/woods" like you can today). And the balls? Pfft! they cut so easily that one miss-hit and it is garbage. The cuts on the covers were sometimes so bad you could see the rubberbands inside. That's right, golf balls had rubber bands wound around a rubber core and they didn't go very far and spun like crazy---meaning banana balls and duck hooks ruled the golf universe. I'm talking slices that went 1-2 fairways over. The irons? Picture butter knives on a stick. There was no forgiveness back in the day and finding a scratch or low handicap golfer? You would have better luck spotting Bigfoot. When you combine the two technologies it's like comparing night to day. A much, much easier game today than it was back then.

No not everyone has been scammed, if you don’t have the money or want a good ping driver especially now since some may be traded in, buy the older or last g series max drivers. You may get a little more yardage out of the 10 K max just because of the lower spin rate so if you think it’s worth the money that it would be a good choice. The best thing to do is get fitted anyway and/or go to your golf shop and hit both to see for yourself what it may or may not be able to do for you. Usually seniors would not want this club as they would probably want more spin to get the ball in the air better with their slower swing speed. If you already have a ping driver of last year or two, I don’t think it would justify the cost and I would wait a year or two before so I can get traded One that will most likely be traded in or after the price goes down. Know if you’re looking for a new driver because your old one is six years old and you just want a new one this may be a good choice if you’re into spending the money

I’m a bit pissed off actually, just upgraded to the G430 and 5 wood and hybrid. Had I known I would have waited that bit longer as I can’t afford to change very often, as in every 10 years or so

You had a 10k and a Max head and did not do an side by side comparison of 10 shots each?

The good news is that you can get a Max, LST or SFT for substantially less than the 10k… just got my new fitted SFT. The 10k was definitely not for me. The good news is, I got my driver for 190$ CDN less with a nice discount.

...another thing about drivers, for those of you spending your fortunes for another 5 yards! One simply has to watch Rory vs. Scottie to see how you really score in golf! My 245 yard drives got me into 4th place in our club championship A flight (0-5 cap) out of 35 golfers. I"m 68 and the average age of my competitors was 27; and a 40 yard average difference in driver yards.

He should do a video of the 10k vs Chinese dupes. There's a handful a videos where the casual golfer did not know the difference. These were scratch shooter casual golfers too. Golf technology is a little simpler than most people think. Their marketing would have you believe different

So this is the first time Ping released a "new" driver outside their 18 month normal window...yet within the same family. I take issue with Callaway and TaylorMade releasing a new family every year.

To be fair, i think you are dealing with a unique delivery that maintaining spin in ok window. Most are seeing spin kick up pretty substantially eith the 10k drivers. Ive seen aleast 3 videos on Qi10 that people had to loft 9.5 down to 7.5 to keep their launch profile. I play original max. Hit 10k at end of a fairway fitting for fun. It definitely spun up on me. If you gave me both drivers in a fitting, id still play the original max.

Not sure about that. Ping say themselves that that the 10k max sits between the lst and the standard max in terms of spin.

I’d deffo play it if I’d had it sent to me in the post. Otherwise, I’ll stick with my 2019 F9. Unless it has an anti slice stripe on it. Then I’d pay the £600bags.

The 10k is the $599 usd…. I don’t know if it’s more expensive in GB but it’s right in line with some of the higher in major players like the TSR lineup. It’s 50$ usd higher than the 430 max and 20$ higher than the lst.

Even on the release date of a new driver, the manufacturer has already begun working on a "better" one. I think TaylorMade knew the whole time they were marketing and selling the Stealth 2 that it was garbage.

Heard that its the more forgiving tour version. Dont know how true that is

"are we making the game too easy"...LOL, thats a big NO for the majority of us. I would be frustrated if I bought the G430 last year then this came out the following year. With that being said I did buy this driver two weeks ago, I was due for an upgrade from my Taylor Made M4 - hoping the Ping lasts me many years. Only a couple range sessions so far since I live in the North East and its not golf season yet - but so far this driver does feel amazing.

@@vdkk1269 I have barely swung a club in months because of the cold and snow, but I’m very happy with my decision and this thing feels amazing so far! I was hesitant to spend that kind of money on one club and usually buy previous years for a big discount when I do any upgrades (I also bought the g430 7 wood and got rid of my m4 hybrid that I couldn’t hit for shit, and the 7 wood feels unreal too)

Everyone else releases a new driver every year, so why bash Ping for doing it? Is it because they haven’t called it something different 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m annoyed my paradym has been replaced with AI smoke, but would I be more annoyed if they called it paradym TD max? No I wouldn’t 😂

It seems like the driver isn't that forgiving on distance. I saw multiple 250-260 carries as well as multiple 290+ carries. A 30-40 yard drop off seems like a huge drop off for a forgiving driver.

There should be a one for one trade in no questions asked

I traded in my G425 Max for the G430 Max 10K. Got raped on the difference, not gonna lie. Took it to the range yesterday for the first swings. Out of a small bucket, I hit two clunkers. Maybe not all would have been in the fairway, but I was pretty impressed overall. Day after tomorrow I'll be playing, so can't wait to see how it really does😊

This club is selling for £549 in most shops, still a bit expensive though.

Frankly for most high handicap golfers (I'm 28) it'll make no difference. I own a 430 Max and tested the new 10k - I had far better dispersion and distances with my old one. There is no "technology" that is going to help mis-hits like 28 handicapers can do! Now maybe if you are low teens - it'll make a difference - but for me, it certainly did not.
