I knew this one family growing up. Their parents weren’t just Disney Adults, they were Disney-Fanatics. They named their son and daughter Mickey and Minnie, they dressed him in white shirt with red suspenders and her in polka dots. All their pictures hanging up were Disney, their car was painted in Disney, the parents wore Disney gear every day. Most of their conversations led back to trips to Disneyland in some way OR they would talk about the characters like they were regular people who they had interactions with. It was crazy. And even me, (at like 11) looking at these people, I knew it was crazy-town.

Ok…you absolutely cannot have random adults dressing up at Disney- because if the cosplay is good enough, it would be too hard to differentiate between the cosplayers and the actual Disney employees. That would make it way too easy for some creep in an Aladdin costume to be like “hey little girl! Want ti take a picture?” And next thing you know we are seeing that missing child poster on the news.

When my older brother went to his high school grad night to Disney he was stunned to see many of his friends, 17-18 year old football players with star-eyed reactions to Disney Land, whereas my brother just sort of saw it as another trip to the park since my family has gone on multiple trips throughout the years. When your a kid it’s magical. What made those trips meaningful was that my parents managed it on tight budgets and made an effort to give us fun childhood experiences. However for most people, especially where we grew up, Disney Land trips were not common for many families. Obviously not everyone could afford the trip and those who go for the first time as adults when they couldn’t because of financial difficulties in their childhood are bound to have strong emotional reactions because it’s a place kids dream of going to for so long and they’re finally there. So if it was that woman’s first time there, I don’t blame her, if it was her third or any time past a second time, then yeah her reaction is a little weird. I may not like Disney as a corporation, but there are still things I find magical about it, the characters, the animation, the architecture, the art/businesshistory of the company in general is fascinating to me personally. I don’t see anything wrong with having a strong emotional reaction to something that brings out your inner child, especially if you never got to experience it like the rest of the world did when you were a kid.

I once took my niece to Disneyland where she can finally be on the rides and meet her favorite characters. Beside the fact that it was expensive, I was surprised by the amount of Disney Adults queuing to take photos with the princesses and the rides to a point where kids "who these parks were made for" couldn’t even have a chance to do so. When a character appeared, these adults raced and pushed the kids aside so they can take photos first!! WHAT!!! When the Disney parade started the Disney Adults took the front rows to take pictures and cheer out loud when they see certain characters while the kids were behind them unable to see. I had to ask an adult woman to move back one step so my niece can take a spot in front, she wasn't happy about it but I'm sorry, the kids are more important

As a 14 year old that’s been to Disney many times, I understand it. When I was 11, I was obsessed with Star Wars. But when I took the Jedi training thing they had, there were four grown ass men in the class, and they were not the most physically fit. I saw them step over a 4 year old who got separated from his mom, and I had to try and help the kid find his mom. We found his mom, and she was so grateful for what I did and so confused as to how the men didn’t give a fuck about a 4 year old boy.

As an adult who likes Disney, I don’t ever do the character meet and greets, I go for the rides and maybe some treats and have fun. I realize I am too old to be meeting some 18-25 year old girl playing a princess. If it’s for my kids, then that is different. But a grown adult should be there for the rides. If I see a character I may try to get a picture if it’s Mickey or goofy. But not the princesses 😂 I have better things to do when I paid to have fun at a theme park, seeing characters is at the bottom of the list if at all.

I'm planning on taking my child to Disney to November but currently I'm a bit disgusted with Disney for obvious reasons. I've never been and not really a Disney fan. But, I started watching vlogs to get tips and tricks; there are adult childless KZreadrs who visit Disney multiple times a year, wear all the gear, go to character meets and treat the costumed employees like they're real. It's just so bizarre to me honestly. Some of them even cry when leaving. I don't get it.

Disney and Universal will always hold a deep nostalgia in my heart. It was a huge deal for me that I was able to go twice with my parents. I recognize the consumerism, that first video is INSANE! I remember when we were at Harry Potter World I got picked to do the wand selection at Ollivander’s and my parents were so hesitant to purchase the wand for me because it was $55 but they did it anyways. I can’t imagine spending 3 thousand USD in ONE DAY! I had like a $30 spending limit for each park to buy souvenirs. My mom was so sweet though and would sneak out each morning at our resort and surprise me with a gift each morning, my favourite was when she gave me Mickey ears I really wanted. Okay now I’m just rambling. I guess I have a lot of good memories haha. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying Disney, it’s nostalgic but if you’re breaking your bank account to do so, I’d change around your priorities lol.

It makes me sad honestly. I love/loved disney. I have so many happy childhood memories of what I call "the old disney magic" of going with my family, riding the rides, meeting the princesses, watching the fireworks, as a kid it really did feel like magic. I get why that woman was crying, it brings a nostalgic longing for what we don't have anymore. I mean maybe that's not why she's crying, but that's how I interpreted it. I remember snuggling up to my dad as a little girl watching Peter Pan, and then holding his hand while we went on the ride. I'm 24 now and it makes me tear up a little knowing that all of that childhood magic will never come back and that it's over now. That's part of growing up. But I think it's okay to miss that feeling. I REALLY like Brett and her videos but maybe she just can't relate to that feeling because, well, it wasn’t a part of her childhood and she doesn't have those same memories. Not that it's a bad thing not to! But to me personally the old Disney will always be special

It’s interesting to note that Magic Kingdom gets “only” about 20 million visitors per year with all the years of hype. But the Christian/Jewish Ark Encounter gets 1 million with no ads other than word of mouth. Definitely take 3 days there. Plan on attending some of the animal encounter classes, zip lines, VR, enjoy some fudge and actually taking time to read through all the signs in the museum and play with the interactive push buttons and listen to what the animatronics teach. If you can go to one day at the smaller creation Museum first absolutely do that.

I’ve been to Disney World, it’s fine, but not life changing. Going to Ark Encounter I wish I would’ve known about answers TV first. It is a streaming service that cost $3.33 a month. My kids love to watch buddy Davis on there. Worth it for just that to prep a month before you go. People think of things like Noah’s Ark as some sort of cartoon, but what they claim is things like Noah got the animals to came on two by two, when scripture never said that kids songs and books painted that picture in our minds. Read Genesis 1-11 and John 1. I would actually love to see those museums expand. Our family is actually in science too. Whenever I hear about how God spoke through Jesus as the physical of God I pictured the atom’s vibrating into perfection. Look up resonance experiments, they don’t have anything on that type of science yet, that’s just my own thought that they should. I’ve personally experience supernatural things in my relationship with God. But when it comes to history and science the Bible doesn’t contradict what’s Known, what’s known always proves the Bible. Problem is most people need to humble and get back to the basics not only of Bible come up but of science, sans the nonsense that everyone loves to add. It’s not about seeking our truths, it’s about seeking the truth.

Disney, as a symbol, an idea, a culture, and a man, should actually be revered by everyone across our nation. Its a perfect embodiment of America. Imagination, innovation, hard work, achievement, dreams, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s just the corporatist takeover of Walt’s beloved company that should be condemned. If anything, it just makes it more sad. Sad to see what greedy f*cks have done to a beloved American cultural icon.

I had a best friend who you would probably consider a “Disney Adult.” She was in her mid to late 20’s. Had season passes. Loved their dapper days and dressing up for the occasion. Loved the movies. She was also a devout Christian. The most christlike person I have ever known. She didn't lack love of God or religion. She just loved Disney. These things made her happy and there is no shame in that. Where is it written that once we “grow up” we are no longer to enjoy the delights of a childlike spirit? It's not. I love Brett and many of her takes, but this isn’t one I would expect her to understand because she really had no childhood. I understand what Disney is- good and bad. I've seen how the movies changed. I see how the parks are changing. I understand it is not to be trusted. Carolyn passed in 2020. She never saw what Disney became and part of me is very grateful for that. But we shouldn’t be shaming those like her. The girl in that tik too probably spent her entire childhood watching those movies and seeing the commercials about the place where all those characters and all that magic comes to life. For her, this was likely a childhood dream that she was never able to make a reality until adulthood. Who doesn’t feel immense joy when they finally experience something they spent a lifetime dreaming of? We all do.

Hi! Disney adult here (or maybe call me a disney teen bc I’m only 19)- I went to Disney as a kid so now as an adult it’s a nostalgic and comforting place for me. It’s a place to enjoy time with my family and have fun.I didn’t lose my mind over not being able to not dress up in costume. “Disney bounding” is just a fun way to wear Disney themed outfits. It’s really nothing more than that. I would also like to point out that Disney these days thrives on the selling of alcoholic beverages, especially at their food events which normally run year round. While Disney certainly started off as a place marketed towards kids, you can’t deny that they have things that are for just adults now too. I’m a Christian, so thankfully I have filled my spiritual void with something other than Disney lol. While I find my main peace and comfort in Christ, Disney World has been a comforting place to me the past few years as I have been dealing with very bad illness. It makes me happy, just like going to a Taylor swift concert or sports game does for some people. I do NOT like how the Disney company as a whole has been politically these days- and I don’t support a lot of the child indoctrination they spew now. When I was a kid, Disney was not like that, and nothing beats classic good movies like beauty and the beast or Cinderella. They already have gone too far and if they continue to do so, i really will have to reconsider my love of Disney. I will say Disney has gotten expensive over the years, but as you said you can always budget and do Disney for way less than that woman on tik tok. I go often and im not forced to buy stuff bc the lines are “so long” in fact 120 minutes is not really the norm unless it’s spring break or Christmas. Anyways, that’s just my thoughts, everyone please be nice. Liking something a lot shouldn’t be automatically seen as creepy.

I go every year and even if I'm not visiting the parks, being in the presence of Disney just does something I can't explain. Obviously nothing fills the void like Christ but I see nothing wrong as well with a person loving Disney SO MUCH because I know how that feels. Besides there is SO MUCH more than Disney to visit as well in Orlando, but no Florida vacation feels the same without stepping somewhere onto Disney property for me. Several of my friends moved to Florida straight out of high school to work at Disney. They still repost their “Disney Magic” memories and wistfully share about the”best days of their lives almost 15 years later. None of them have children, interestingly enough. My sister in law worked there a few years ago too. My daughter wants me to take her there for her 10th birthday in a few years. I homeschool, so hopefully we can go in the off season and stay with my sister to save some money. I don’t know how we’ll afford it otherwise.

When I was a teenager, my family would go to Disneyland annually as a thing for the Christmas season. When my sister started working at the Disney Store and she shared with us her benefits, things sure got out of hand. This was the time I was in the Navy and didn't realize how much Disney consumed my family and entered every facet of their lives. My wife and I are this weirded out by Disney adults and think it's ridiculous, especially once we found out about the Disney housing community in Florida... 🤦

I think that you should attempt to take them at least once as you said. It’s more common for adults to have these types of reactions especially if they’ve never gone and always wanted to go. Many kids I grew up around never went because their families couldn’t afford it, I think it’s worse to be able to afford it and knowingly withhold it from them. My little sister even knows Disney is a shit company, I complain about it often enough she can see the film qualities have gone down, yet still wants to take her best friend this summer since her parents would never put the effort in to take her themselves and doesn’t want to leave her friend with that childhood craving.

I've never been to Disney, but I took a week long senior trip to Yellowstone National Park back in September. It was much more magical, majestic, and beautiful than anything Disney could ever dream up. Not to mention the fact that it was a whole lot cheaper. It's pretty sad that participation in an institution set up by the government is less expensive than something made for literal children.

Like Brett I grew up only seen the OG older Disney movies, like Aristocats and Alice in Wonderland. I was aware that in the US there's a a huge hype and cultish following of Disney pilgrims, because I have relatives in Florida. But I was never into Disney things. It's IMHO a very well built marketing strategy from experts in the field. I understand why people cry when they see the princess castle or spend 3k on stupid things in a day. I once visited the Chelsea FC store in Chelsea and (wanted to buy my dad a souvenir) and I was 100% got caught in the marketing and consumerism thing. i was so entrapped and in awe I wanted to buy everything even if like 5min ago I didn't even cared about Chelsea FC. Thank goodness I have some restraint and just got my dad a ring, and left 😂 its a powerful feeling, needing to be part if something so well designed and developed with a single purpose, people to buy as much stuff as possible. It's real temptation, like I've only read about and never experienced before. Crazy how humans are so unsuspecting and vulnerable.

I wouldnt call me and my mom “Disney adults” in the traditional sense as we aren’t as crazy as some of these people. We both grew up with the characters and so we have some favorites. We’ve been to the parks maybe more than your average family but with a couple of years in between visits. We don’t do frequent road trips or beach vacations like other families and we’re ok with that. But Disney isn’t the only vacation we have. I think you can have a healthy balance of enjoying Disney while not making it your whole life.

I’m the same way, I love the Disney parks and enjoy their legacy content, but I feel there’s a difference between being a “Disney adult” and an adult that enjoys Disney. The changes they’ve made to the parks has been on the decline to where I have not wanted to go at all. However, to write off the parks only as a place for kids is throwing out the legitimate work done by these imagineers which are some of the most brilliant storytellers I’ve listened to. At the the same, Disneys current projects just give ammunition against my argument since they feel cheap and lazy.

Disney has definitely changed and it makes me a bit sad. I still love Disney though. The tik tok seems like they didn't do their research about pricing and when to visit the parks. They went during one of the busiest times of the year (spring break), did the extremely expensive light saber build and probably didn't use the lightning lane to their advantage. Like any vacation, you need to do your research. I'm not going to defend Disney pricing because it has gotten absolutely ridiculous. hey Brett, im a fan of your vids, been so for a while now, watch almost every vid. but i guess you could say im a " disney adult"..... im from NZ and we only have 1 big amusement park. i grew up on the 90's disney, ( not so much a fan of todays disney) and its always been a dream to see the Disney castle in person. as it was presented at the begining of the 90's disney movies of my childhood. i would probably cry too seeing the castle in person, especially when i live far away (10+ hours plane trip) to the nearest disney land. its not excatly a road trip away..... i agree tho that the price at disney land is expensive, but i can dream to wish that one day i could afford a trip to fly out to disney land... snice it would be expensive just to travel there anyways ( ie $2000 for a plane ticket) so going to disney land wouldnt be something i would expect to be affordable anyways. i can understand that if you live in the same country that yeah it would be expensive when you are just wanting a day out at a theme park. But to some people who doesnt have a disney land or any theme park in their country, its a luxury, a dream, a bucketlist. Some people Dream to visit Paris.....I dream to visit disneyland.

The stories and animation really influenced my aspiration to become a fiction writer and animator (which I haven't accomplished yet but I'm hoping to). And with all the remakes, shitty movies, and bad decisions Disney has been making, it has genuinely hurt and offended me and my "inner child" or childhood nostalgia. But I'm most definitely not OBSESSED with Disney! I dont obsess over most things actually, and when I find myself reaching a point of obsession, I stop myself. Because it's unhealthy! And weird! And irrational! I just don't understand those kinds of fans and how they can waste so much money on merchandise and crap. I mean, I like a trinket or two, especially of things I really like and if they're pretty and artistic and worth the money, but... some people just go too far. They cited the long lines, obscene prices, and their general lack of interest in Disney properties, though they do like Marvel, Star Wars and some Pixar. I have fond memories of going to DL when I was a kid. But that was because our annual excursion was paid for by my grandfather's company. General Dynamics used to rent out the park one night a year for the families of employees, and it was awesome. WHen I went back as a teenager on a regular day (30+ years ago) and saw how insane the prices and lines were I was shocked. I went back once more as an adult, when it was part of attending a conference and only went on two rides because of how insane the lines were. My boys and I are planning a long overdue trip to SoCal in the next year, but we will skip DL instead planning to go to Knots Berry Farm and Six Flags to hit the roller coasters and load up on Boysenberry everything.
