Hello Damian! It's interesting seeing your homemade stoves, however, Have you tried a Kelly Kettle? It is very handy for boiling water & you can cook or fry on the lower firepot and when it is chilly out, it does throw off some heat to warm your hands. I have designed a funnel chimney to go over it, to be used in a tent, though not in production yet. The storm really did a number on Harwood Forest, but it is a great pleasant day there, good for getting out & breathing deep! Happy Trails....
@Fell_Wanderer
2 жыл бұрын
I've not tried the Kellie kettle but have only heard good things about them, one day I will try one. Harwood forest is a nice place to visit but there aren't many safe places to camp and may take a few years for the forest to stabilize. Thank you for your comment.

I haven't tried that because knowing my luck, the stones might explode with any moisture present, but that cooking method would work in a underground oven.

Finally something that makes sense! How do you like the underquilt? Been pondering buying one but the old foam mat still works fine
@Fell_Wanderer
2 жыл бұрын
Foam mats work great in the DD hammock because you can unzip and place mat between the layers but in my Tenth Wonder hammock, they slide around and are less comfortable. I recommend an underquilt because they are way more comfortable and less bulky than a rolled up foam pad
@rooksfoot11842 жыл бұрын
get one of the polyester DD tarps for over ur hammock (cheaper if heavier than the sil-nylon super light ones... but more durable) and a bit of an upgrade from the plaastic ones... loads of tie off point and optiona as a sheltter in their own right ...gd vid ATB
@Fell_Wanderer
2 жыл бұрын
I've got a few DD tarps of various sizes, polyester and superlight 3mx3m. Polyester is more durable but a bit more bulky to carry. Thats why I like stashing cheap utility tarps for later use. Problem is, after a while rodents damage them so they dont last very long

Always great viewing bro. If things keep going the ways it is at present then knowing other ways to cook food is going to be a real advantage. Safe travels

Harwood forest is a great place to bug out and learn the skills to survive. With fuel costs soaring, we should invest in log burners and practice alternative methods of staying warm and cooking.
Cracking video mate good set up love your vids great humor but at the same time wise words. I'm the same I always see things and think oh I that would be good for such n such lol ATB mate. Sam

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm always looking in skips, one mans rubbish is another mans treasure. I love car boot sales as well for a bargain and old military gear.

I've not tried the Kellie kettle but have only heard good things about them, one day I will try one. Harwood forest is a nice place to visit but there aren't many safe places to camp and may take a few years for the forest to stabilize. Thank you for your comment.
Glad to see ya back out, Have you ever tried cooking in the ground, with hot rocks , and you cover it over , (or something like that) . might take awhile I guess. Cheers mate.👍
@Fell_Wanderer

I haven't tried that because knowing my luck, the stones might explode with any moisture present, but that cooking method would work in a underground oven.
Brilliant mate 🇬🇧🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🎥🤙🏻

first comment!! get out and do a bit of wild camping ... you know it makes sense!!
Finally something that makes sense! How do you like the underquilt? Been pondering buying one but the old foam mat still works fine
@Fell_Wanderer
2 жыл бұрын
Foam mats work great in the DD hammock because you can unzip and place mat between the layers but in my Tenth Wonder hammock, they slide around and are less comfortable. I recommend an underquilt because they are way more comfortable and less bulky than a rolled up foam pad
get one of the polyester DD tarps for over ur hammock (cheaper if heavier than the sil-nylon super light ones... but more durable) and a bit of an upgrade from the plaastic ones... loads of tie off point and optiona as a sheltter in their own right ...gd vid ATB
@Fell_Wanderer
2 жыл бұрын
I've got a few DD tarps of various sizes, polyester and superlight 3mx3m. Polyester is more durable but a bit more bulky to carry. Thats why I like stashing cheap utility tarps for later use. Problem is, after a while rodents damage them so they dont last very long

I carried all the gear in on a couple of trips. Its a semi permanent camp so not gonna move it all soon. I won't make the mistake of bringing in to much as it all has to leave eventually. The drone footage was cut short by a low battery warning so wish I had more to play with in post editing, ATB.

You can park in a forest track layby near the vilaage at NY 99783 90167 or at one of the laybys on the gibbet road to Elsdon, such as NY 98950 90137. Enjoy your camp but watch out for the midgies they are bad this time of year.

Northumbrian dialect not Gallic. IMHO, British is more of a general term relating to people who speak all dialects of English, not a specific one.
