    A couple weeks ago I went to a local park that has dozens of wild persimmon trees and foraged enough to extract about a cup full of pulp through a screen and then we baked it into a bread pudding and it is unlike any dessert I have ever had. It is hard to match the exact taste but I think it could be approximated with a blend of ripe plums, apricots, and cherries. I very much look forward to doing it again next year.

    Yeah, l've heard about these wild American persimmons. I think these are sweeter but less crispier than the regular fuyu. I havent tried making it into a pie, or even preseved the fruits yet. But l have to give it a try. Thanks for dropping by.

    Is there a major difference in taste between the Jiro and Fuyu persimmons? It looks like you got a great harvest. The size in comparison is unreal..so big, almost looks like a mini acorn squash.

  • @may.africa

    @may.africa

    3 жыл бұрын

    I dont think so...the jiro is another variation of the fuyu persimmon, so the taste is not that far from the fuyu itself. Both are delicious and can be eaten even when not totally ripe and soft, unlike the Hachiya, which is astringent if eaten not fully ripe

    Hi ! Kapampangan ka pala. Kapampangan ku naman and also love gardening. I bet you also know how to graft. I also have a Giant Fuyu Persimmon tree about 10 years old. I’m planning to graft more varieties in spring . I’m eyeing a Spanish variety called Rojo brilliantes which is big dark orange when ripe that looks like Hachiya but non astringent and can be eaten unripe . Another variety that I want is Maekawa Fuyu that is a large round non astringent also but early ripening . I already found a budwood nursery in California that carries these varieties .
