Harvesting Mamaki tea in Hawai'i !! (part one)
We spent a rainy day out in the fields harvesting the leaves of the mamaki plant (Pipturus albidus), and saw some neat creatures too!
Mamaki is endemic to Hawai'i and is a member of the nettle family, but it has no spikes!
Drinking the tea made from these leaves is said to have many health benefits, and steeping the dried leaves in hot water produces a soothing syrupy tea with a slightly sweet and earthy taste :)

About 15 to 30 pounds per hour depending on condition of the plants !
