Harvest 2022 has come to a close for most crops at Franzen Agriculture. In this video we follow the harvest of winter wheat, onions, potatoes, parsley and brussels sprouts. Throughout the video some of the 8 new three axle Beco 28 tonne trailers are shown. Farm owner Frank Franzen explains how the harvest progressed, what the yields and quality are and what is next on the farming calendar.

Fantastic video of Franzen farming operation. Looking forward to seeing next episode. I wonder what Frank Franzen will be growing in 10 years time if climate change and limited fertiliser use/availability happens.

Amazing video. Loved it! But for a person, that doesn't speak Dutch, the comentary from Frank was really hard to follow (reading the subtitles and watching the video at the same time). The other videos with only English were easyer to watch. But still, keep up the good work!

Is it a option for Franzen to make a specific part oft the farm to a organic farm? Why or why not?
Prachtige video en een prachtig bedrijf. Schaalvergroting komen we niet onderuit, maar ondanks de lage bandenspanning geloof ik niet in kippers van bruto 40 ton. We hebben hier geen winters met vorst die de grond weer herstellen. Hoe denken jullie hier over? En is er een andere keuze mogelijk?

Company like Franzen will have fuel in storage and the shortage is looming, nog yet active, the costs however are indeed rising but it’s winter season coming up which means low fuel use. The new trailers and new line of Fendt SHOULD help with lower fuel consumption too. It’s a significant investment but at the same time also saves them hundreds if not a couple thousand liters of fuel a year. 8 (!!) new three axle trailers will save them a crazy amount of carting trips as well as field work due to the lower ground consumption. Even the air brakes and tire pressure systems on the trailers all translate to diesel consumption directly.
How many hectares is grown for each crop and what is the total amount of hectares grown at Franzén and lastly which soil grade is it, and of course what yield is the crops producing. Best regards, Joachim Gahm, growing carrots, potatoes, red beets, cauliflower etc and cereals at the Kristineberg estate in southern Sweden.

how many hecatre do they farm in total ? How do they finance such a growth in a place where land is so expensive ? Outside investors ?

It can be much worse indeed, also in NL. But on these soils with frequent irrigation and very high cost 50t is not enough. In the end it is the margin that counts, not the tonnes.
