There's never a hard and fast rule or answer to this. It truly is a holistic process, HBS won't just accept Indians that studied engineering, they'll accept others as well.

HBS doesn't even care about the pcm part. Best solution would be not take a STEM major and avoid an early career in IT to avoid getting bucketed in the most handicapped pool

IT chod ke kuch bhi lele bhai, i would recommend economics hons, since youre from maths bg and people from econ bg get the best consulting and i banking jobs at du and others but unfortunately most good colleges wont accept you now.
So many of the "Indian" applicants are either from the US or complete their UG from the US.

Same with African (from what I've heard, at least at Harvard).
