I had Nyanners' stream on when I went to sleep and woke up to this conversation and I was like, I routinely nuke hot dogs for an easy lunch. Just put two on a plate and nuke for a minute, don't even have to stick fork holes in them, they won't explode. :)

Almost all hot dogs/sausages are precooked and can be eaten as is. Only thing you are doing after that is basically just heating it up and changing the skin texture depending how you prepare them.

Thats what i do, i microwave it long enough for it to start splitting, then bun it, heat it for 15 seconds, and put condiments on it. I don't use any paper towels, just a plate.

I love how Nyan and Haruka are edited in the thumbnail, but Aethel just has his normal derpy grin

Nothing wrong with microwaving them; it's so fast! Just cut a slit or two into them before putting them on top of a paper towel in the microwave (don't wrap them, that's stupid) to keep them from exploding, and then it only takes like 20-22 seconds to microwave, then you can just stick 'em on a bun, throw on whatever condiments you like, and eat! Then again, my opinion on hot dogs has apparently always been controversial, because even before I started microwaving them, I would only broil them in the toaster oven for like 5 minutes. I don't like them nearly as cooked as most people seem to. People tell me my hot dogs are practically raw, and I say theirs are fucking burnt. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. ¯し(ツ)_/¯

Same, if anything I prefer them raw than cooked and 10-15 secs on the microwave is enough for me

I’ve just realised why I love Aethal and Nyan so much. It’s because they remind me of the same banter Jenna Marbles and Julien Solomita has, and I absolutely love that chemistry

Didn't know people were so passionate about their hotdogs! Don't mind me out here taking notes...

Wrapping it in paper towel can improve the cooking, but I find it sticks to the bun (kind of like TP), and it's just a waste of paper towel. Reduce the cook time, and eat it before the moisture steams off. I don't boil dogs unless I'm cooking them in a dark beer.

@@IRMentat I have made countless hotdogs in the microwave. The paper towel has never once stuck to the hotdog. If it's ever stuck for you, there's something wrong with either your hotdog or your paper towels, or you're heating it way too long.

Microwaving is fine. You just poke holes in the hotdog with a fork so it doesn't explode. Boiling is still the best way to heat them up.

The trick is to cut a slit into them lengthwise beforehand, that way they won't explode.

I have a long bowl you can put water and the hotdog in to microwave.

Honestly, microwaved hotdogs are pretty good and taste way better than boiled hotdogs

The microwave is my oven. 2 hotdogs 50 seconds then I place a hotdog on bread and American cheese then I place BBQ sauce on top of the hot dog or ketchup and mustard.

in desperate times I too microwave hotdogs. The worst part about it, aside from nuking it, is that they split open and lose that satisfying "hotdog snap" when biting into them.

@@berzerkskwid if you dont overcook it and the dog is submerged it will not. You may need to rotate and/or experiment on perfect time for your microwaves. Wattage/age/altititude as usual will impact how your food cooks

I got news for anybody who get hot dogs from a fast food place. They are microwaved

to be fair to the Moose microwaving a Hotdog is not that hard. i actually have a special plate/ box where i can microwave hotdogs and even frozen veggies. my point is Haruka Microwaving a hotdog doesn't sound weird to me at all. i also air fry hotdogs, both microwaved and air fried hotdogs taste amazing and they never give me stomach pain like boiling hotdog does.

I hate this. They don't even give a reason to why it's bad. That's what a microwave is for! To reheat food!

I would never microwave a hotdog unless it's a pogo, that's different. I think it's less of fear of microwaves and more the fact that stuff that can be cooked in a microwave is usually more enjoyable in terms of taste and texture when cooked almost any other way most of the time. Though yes, it's still funny that people are afraid of microwaved food and cellphones as microwave radiation can't give you radiation poisoning.

It has absolutely nothing to do with being afraid of microwaves, it's that microwaves heat things up entirely differently than other sources, so the taste is going to be effected. For some things a microwave is better, for others it's worse.

People in my country do it too, it's not that weird
