    Wow young brett sounds way different than his later face promos. His voice has this confidence and swagger to it. He should never have turned face. He could have been the best heel wrestler there ever was. I love how 90% of these teams from a time when tag teams actually meant something, were foreigners LoL. And I like how brett runs down and attacks all the heels and holds no allegiances to anyone...

    The kids and Canadians loved him too much for him to remain a heel, plus he was the only "true" wrestler in the Federation for many years.

    It was vince's decision to turn hin face, its ok if he turned face as long as he maintained his cocky arrogant shit talk the way they did promos against the nasty boys,rockers and demolition.. Have you seen these promos guys? They were face and Bret was so amazing for being cocky...

    Love your comment. But Vince had to turn Bret face, or at least let's say that was the standard operating procedure for the time. Bret was getting more fan mail than hulk Hogan! If fans love you, you have to be a face. It's what happened to macho, Jake and more than a few others. If as a face, the fans hate you then you have to turn heel. This is what happened with honky tonk and the rock.

    @@XxowendanxX If the anvil had today's modern wrestling training he had I think the ability to be better than he actually was. Today we think wrestlers are more gifted than past ones but I don't think it's true. It was the training and the evolution of the moves, the quality of the ring, etc that makes todays wrestlers APPEAR better than past champions like, for example, the ANvil. THat's my take. As another example... if you call YOURSELF Mr Perfect, that's one thing. When everyone ELSE calls you Mr. Perfect too... that's a completely different equation. I think Kurt Hennig was one of the top 10 most gifted athletes in Wrestling history.

  • @XxowendanxX

    @XxowendanxX

    @@THE_CHOAS_ENGINE I must respectfully disagree. It's a very technocratic view that you have. Could the anvil have been better had there been better training? Both of these guys came up through the wrestling profession at the same time, but the other advanced to far greater heights than the other. It's true that innate ability is only part of the equation. What creates success in any profession or area of life is innate ability, training, desire, and in many cases lifestyle choices. In terms of wrestling, Bret states in his book that success boils down to 3 things: appearance, mic skills, and ability in the ring. This promo was shot at a period of time when less value was placed on wrestling ability. The champion was hulk Hogan, who had an impressive appearance and arguably the best mic skills in history. It's what suited his character. The good guy hero. For him to get in the ring and perform wrist locks and other technical holds would be contrary to the character that he was developing. The importance of technical ability in the business was to happen much later. That's the importance of Bret Hart in wrestling history. He created a hero character who was also a proficient wrestler. As far as I know, the anvil was more interested in doing drugs, living the high life and suing some police officers who roughed him up. He did not have the focus or desire to become one of the all time greats and so we will never truly know if he could have become one. Happy new year to you, BTW

    Let me tell you something, Hart Foundation. When me and my tag team partner, Blathers, get done with you, you're going to be nothing but the Fart Foundation! I'm K.K. Slider, and this is Blathers, who's good at appraising fossils. But even he couldn't appraise your fossilized bones after we break them in half! After our match is over, I'm going to hook you up with a boot. You know, a bootleg? Those industry fat cats try to put a price on my music, but it wants to be free!

    Back when they were doing promos for the survivor series 1987, the Hart foundation was cutting a promo and Anvil said the Islanders are just plain dumb! This was when they were going to be on the same team as the harts! Jimmy and Bret both stopped preening and mugging and looked right at Anvil. I was like whoa doesn't he know they are his teammates? This was very soon after the Islanders' heel turn
