Harriet Tubman also adopted a teen blind girl from the Auburn Orphanage...no one else wanted to "adopt" her, most older orphans were offered as servants/hired hands to families...after a trial period they could bring the orphans back

Carolyn I have been following since I discovered you and your dear Capone in 2015. I was newly 21 and in college living with my grandma and caring for her. Then my mom who struggles with alcoholism was sentenced to 3 years in prison and didn’t come home until 2018. Your videos have been a blessing ever since. I also live in Southern Ohio! I would have freaked out if I randomly saw you and Sadie somewhere! I would have to get a pic with you! Blessings to you and your adventures. Thank you for this channel 😇

👍🤩💝I was cracking up @ 6:10 at that red car parked right next to your RV in that empty parking lot. That kind of stuff happens to me all of the time, people will choose a spot next to me, no matter if it’s an empty parking lot, an empty waiting room, empty coffee shop, no matter the vehicle, car, boat, bus etc. i have accepted the fact that I have such good energy that it makes me a magnet. People just can’t resist. 😂🤣😆💝 Thanks for sharing the Harriett Tubman property/ house in Auburn. I love upstate New York. I love that you add historical info to your videos. Safe travels. 🙏💝

My neighbors across the street and to the left of me, insist on parking right next to my mailbox, in front of my house, even though they have ample space in front of their own homes! Drives me crazy; not just because I don’t understand it, but if my mailman is having a bad day, he will not get out of his truck to deliver my mail and when my own friends and family come to visit, they have to park in front of my neighbors’ houses! It just makes no sense. I think they use my mailbox as their guide of some sort. So, I understand the frustration.

While as a small child I do (almost) remember a summer vacation with my parents to the Five Finger Lake Region. I remember: the beauty of all the shades of green, the breeze on the lakeshore, splashing around in the water, I remember: the drive from Toronto, Ontario and going over (seemingly) huge iron bridges that made our tires 'humm'. I remember: throwing a pair of my running shoes out the window along the highway (why?) Thank you, Carolyn. It's was all many decades ago but your video has brought me back these childhood memories. x0x0x0

LG is nasty in The Lakes as the temperature rises I also believe it causes many health issues so stay clear from it, it seems to be hot everywhere I'm 9,000 ft up and we are at 90° with the breeze on the lake where people are skiing and swimming after a very busy 4th of July weekend🎉 so with the heat and algae in The Lakes we have fire time so far we're blessed here without any fires and many of us continue to pray that we will not have to evacuate this area, I'm a full timer 14 years and I'm actually getting ready to become a renter August 1st in California and then I will be a part-timer again I have some adjusting to do oh and the place is pet friendly we have a lot of trails up here by the PCT that are all pet friendly❤ with doggie bags provided I'm enjoying the history along the way by you and a couple other KZreadrs thank you Carolyn stay cool as much as you possibly can and stay healthy along the way❤ God bless

This was a very interesting video! Thanks for letting us ride along. Are you familiar with Toni Morrison's novel, Beloved? It was based on a real news account about a woman who refused to allow her children to be taken south to become slaves and took tragic measures to ensure it didn't happen. Heartbreaking. As for your parking neighbors, maybe they were feeling insecure in their tiny little car and sidled up next to your rig for comfort or shade. Who knows, but it was probably for a benign reason. I always try to remember that people don't know what they can't see, and most personal boundaries are invisible. You could always move if it bothers you (and I know that's easier said than done in your rig). Know what bothers me? Ugh, standing in line. I can't stand standing in line. That's when I start feeling outside my comfort zone. Anyway, take care out there, Mama.

For groceries, you could get a little $20 cooler and one of those refreezable blue blocks for veggies (like carrots) to have more storage while also keeping enough air circulation in fridge. One thing I recently discovered is those caps you can put on canning jars and use food saver to suck the air out. It's amazing how long stuff lasts when you use that! I just use what I need and redo it. I don't like using the bags and the waste, so the jars have been lovely.

Ah I see Chimney Bluffs in your preview! You are so in my neck of the woods. When I was a kid we used to go to Taughanock Falls all the time and we would hike up the creek to the waterfall. There is Buttermilk Falls and Canandaigua Lake that are gorgeous. Green Lake but not dog friendly. I am heading to Dansville NY to camp at a private camp ground with 7 waterfalls and the water temp is COLD! This summer in NY it has been like Florida weather. Hot and humid. Its ok if you can be in the water or if you have AC. Sonyea National Forest is free camping and Sugar Hill is also free. Lots of beautiful waterfalls in NY.

We stumbled on Harriet Tubman’s house too last year. We got lucky and joined a tour last minute. The museum was good too.

Thank You for showing us all this history about Harriett Tubman and the pretty old houses. Harriett sure was ahead of her time. Amazing how she was making homes for elderly. It’s okay that you were unable to show us the women’s suffrage sights, it’s still appreciated all the other things you took us along to see. 🤗🤗 My daughter went to U.C. Berkeley just like you. She then left to get her doctorate in Chicago. And she said her food wouldn’t last as long. She had lived in CA her whole life and had a hard time getting used to the humidity in Chicago. It took her about two years to get used to it . She would get dehydrated because she wasn’t used to all that humidity. But she loved Chicago but was happy to come back to CA after lol.

In Oregon you can’t own waterfront. You can own up to the high water mark but the waterways and access are all public. That includes rivers, lakes, and beaches. Recently an HOA for homes on a lake here in Oregon was sued because they didn’t provide acceptable access to the lake for the general public. They had to build a dock and bathrooms lol! And you can walk the entire coastline in Oregon and not come across any fences proclaiming it private property. Should be the law in every state!

Hi there! Is there any chance you are stopping in Watkins Glen? It’s a beautiful little village on Seneca Lake…another one of the Finger Lakes. It is known for its beautiful gorges, wineries and Nascar auto racing. There’s also Corning and Ithaca nearby…you have probably heard of them. Regardless of your plans, I hope you enjoy yourself in Upstate!

Have you been to Letchworth State Park in New York? Gorgeous and is reminiscent of the Grand Canyon....in my opinion. Also Ausable Chasm in the Adirondack Park is amazing.

I do something like your dessert. I slice my banana, put it on a tray, melt some dark chocolate chips, and drizzle it on my bananas. Put in my freezer for about 10 mins. Yum! Or I dip my bananas in peanut butter and drizzle chocolate...

I would do that in hopes that your rv would provide shade for my car in the afternoon if parked in the right direction! I certainly wouldn't do it if it were overnight though!

Your dessert looks awesome! We all need some treats. I eat one piece of dark chocolate candy every evening as my treat. Friday night is ice cream night. I exercise most days and you get a lot especially having Sadie. No harm done at all. Even when I go to the grocery store, I never park right next to someone. I can walk a few extra feet. Why would I make it more difficult for someone else and myself to get in and out of a car for one thing. Anymore, IMHO I think so many people are oblivious to others and live in their own world.

So here’s my theory about the little red car that parked right next to you at the Harriet Tubman place: she pulls in she looks around. She sees one vehicle in the lot yours, and thinks I don’t know where I’m supposed to park. But maybe that person knows more than I do.so I’ll just go park next to them.
