I don't think this song is about Harry's feminine side, I think he is in touch with his feminine side quite a lot and doesn't hide it. I think this song is about a man who lives seemingly good life with a wife and kids, a good job, friends around him, but he isn't happy, so he goes back to a time when he briefly met or saw a girl that in his eyes was perfect, and now that he feels miserable, he imagines what would his life be with her and it's all he can think of, but he pretends he's fine, because he knows how ridiculous it is to want to run away from his 'good' life, throw everything away for a relationship that truly only exists in his mind. The situation, in which we go back to some past romantic relationship, be it even as brief as one meeting, and start fantasizing about a life with them in idealistic terms, when we feel unhappy in our current one, is actually a psychological phenomenon that happens to a lot of people.

@@ivy4209 the lyric "lives for the memory" wouldn't really make sense though. He remembers that woman and no longer has any way of contacting her, therefore shes just in his head. "while he plays pretend", could be that the man imagines the woman being there, pretending. Idk though, it could just be a song about his femininity but a story is always fun to piece together.

Personally, I think this song is about a man who is married with a woman he doesn’t love anymore. Their love is breaking down and he just can think about the person she was in the past, and can’t recognize the woman who’s sleeping with him in the bed because she changed so much. That’s why he talks about pretending, because he doesn’t want anybody to know he doesn’t feel the same thing he felt years ago, don’t want to hurt her or their children but he’s hurting himself with all the suffering he’s passing for being so undisguised about his own wife.

If "she" was about Harry's femininty, the lines "The man drops his kids off at school", and he's thinking of you, like all of us do" wouldn't make sense. Harry is known to write songs from different people's perspectives. Harry himself said that "Sign of the Times" was written from the perspective of a dying mother giving birth to her child and wishing that her child would go on and conquer the world. Hence, I think "She" is about a man falling out of love with his wife, and longing for a romantic relationship with another woman who is in his fantasies.

I THINK you are wrong, not sure. but i think the song is about a married man who doesn’t love her wife anymore, he’s in love with her wife but in the past. i don’t know how to explain it, but her wife has changed and he’s in love with the past version of her wife. so he fantasies with her, he won’t tell her that she doesn’t love her anymore so he doesn’t hurt her feelings and cause they’re kids.... etc i think that’s what the song is about, i’m not a big harry’s fan so not sure.

The girl in the picture has really nice lips lmao

my interpretation of this song; he dreams about this mystery girl and every time he goes to sleep shes there and he cant get her out of his head but hes never seen her in his life exept from his dreams, shes almost haunting him at this point but he loves it.

i think this song is about not being 100% happy with where the person is in their life. i believe they’re thinking back to what could’ve been and imagining someone he once saw and thought was perfect. or i think it could be about thinking back to seeing someone they think is perfect and seeing them now and how they’ve changed and that they don’t recognise them anymore.

harry is great, no doubt but the band is really rocking. amazing music, i just discovered harry's music because I really did not want to listen boy band or anyone who got out , but Harry Styles is pure gold.
