Grew up on 106 GTi and saxo VTS, only a few years older than the owner of this one, I still actually have my VTS in the garage, but haven't touched it for 5 years. I am so happy to see that people are still putting money into these absolute gems. Hot hatches may leave the factory with 300bhp now but nothing can really compare to the sub 1 tonne hatches of years gone by, those extra 4/500kg just make them feel too heavy, these kinds of cars can be thrown through corners at ridiculous speeds and feel so light and yet so planted. One day I'll turbo my VTS, one day........

Agree with this I have a fiesta of back in the era with the usual puma swap, lowered n polybushed. Wasn't fast by any means with only 120bhp but the lack of any real metal or weight it outpaced a shit ton of stuff on the twistys I enjoyed driving it more than my current mk1 mps with twice the power

@@Dazza2292 those fezzes with the 1.8 puma lump were serious cars back in the day, I'm only 30 but kids these days don't understand what it's like to drive a 900kg car with 140bhp, it isn't quick, certainly not by today's standards, but the weight size and poise of the chassis makes the car feel fast and handling has become something that isn't considered when buying a car, it's all about bhp and 0-60 I'd have this 106 over a 2019 polo GTi absolutely any day of the week, smiles per hour not miles per hour.

I had a Saxo what a car that was at 17. These cars back in the day were quick for what they were... It was the Saxo 106 Corsa or Fiesta. We all know the 106 or Saxo was the best choice!

Wrote off a Saxo VTS at 17 them was the days. Going down to Safeway’s with a boot full of McDonald’s trays, slinging two under your rear wheels handbrake on and drifting around the car park! 😂

Absolutely love the 106, this looks like a scalextric car the way it corners at the end and flys off down the road. Would love to see some of these cars on the channel compete at a drag strip.

Ill see if my mate will get his out for a feature 106 turbo running 421bhp we pushed along a 700bhp gtr on the way nurburgring few years ago lol

Steve Bullock most 106 Rallye have 16v lump? In Italy the Rallye was also sold as a 1.6 16v.

On these light hatchbacks the smallest power improvements is noticable. Over 300 horses with a good balanced turbo makes them an absolute track weapon.

You always here people (non car guys) talk shit about 106's and saxos etc but done properly LLF proves that just about any car can be an absolute weapon. True car channel!! You can keep your exotics this type of thing is where it's at!! Another top video Ricky 😎

John Tobin, quite possibly but the Speedlines are the original ones made for Peugeot Talbot sport, just as they made lots of the standard wheels for Peugeot/Citroen.

The wheels are Speedline PTS (Peugeot Talbot Sport). They're quit expensive and really rare. I used to have them on my 306 2.0 TCT. I miss it by the way....

I had one of these it was about 160-170 bhp with quite a lot work done to it and that was quick and revved to a little over 9k. Wish I'd never sold it to be honest it was loads of fun.

Literally rebuilding my TU5 engine right now as my cambelt snapped.. this is giving me ideas lol

great video, i had a cammed 106 gti back in the day and it was the most fun i have ever had in a car, would absolutely love one again. i wonder where the atspeed 106 turbo is now running about 450bhp

Love a 106 used to love them when i passed my test. Gtis and Vts were brilliant little cheap cars. Was never a fan of the gear selector, quite sloppy. Just a shame they were tin cans. Saw a few mates more than hurt getting in accidents in them. One died unfortunatly, RIP tom

Had a 306 Gti-6 post face lift back in the day. Squared manifold, cams, edu and all that. When it hit 3000rpm sounded like a Scooby (I had standard s16 back box on the rear). Made my mates teg type r look slow 🤣
