Redknapp sounds a bit like a disappointed dad about the way it's ended, obviously full of praise but you do get the feeling from comments like Bale didn't stay after training that there's a bit of potential missed, which is a scary thought when you consider how good Bale was. Hope he enjoys his retirement regardless, seems like his body gave out and he has other things he wants to do so fair enough.

Being a left footed winger myself, he was my favourite player at his peak, i would try to replicate his higlights down the local recreation ground and fail miserably. But I can't help but feel a little dissapointed by the end of his career. I just think he didn't love the game like some players do. You have some players who are riddled with injuries in their later career and do everything to get on the pitch in their last few seasons cos they love football so much. He just seemed so disinterested the past few years. I think the real madrid have been shocking towards him in the end, but i don't think Bale is innocent in this. People talk about him being professional, but whenever ever you saw him on the bench near the end he was always playing around and didn't look bothered by the results of matches, also the flag thing wasnt great- so to some degree I can see why the fans were pissed at him. I just feel he was such a impressive player there was a perfect sceneario in his later career that never happened at possibly a premier league club, where he was playing 40 games a season under an attack minded manager and scoring 15-20 goals a season in all competitions, alas this never happened.

At the bare minimum, Bale should have a stand named after him at the Cardiff City Stadium. A statue in Cardiff is a must too. Probably Wales' biggest icon of the 21st century so far. To walk away from playing for Wales, probably breaks his heart the most. But what a career. Made Wales, let alone Britain as a whole, proud.

To call him the greatest british player of all time is an insult to some of the greats from the british isles lets be honest stop the fuckery Bale was a top player in his prime but his prime lasted about 4 years .
