I still think you should do the Japanese comedy film Gold Medal Man. Basically, the protagonist is a gifted prodigy as a kid but loses his touch through middle and high school. As an adult, he's pretty much desperate to recapture that same magic from when he was younger. Someone said it's like Japanese Bojack Horseman and...kinda? The protagonist is a bit more optimistic, but that optimism often gets him hurt or in trouble.
